still off my tts on 6-apb and booze. dropped another bomb earlier, probably wise but sod it

made a few mistakes last night.. no good

The wee voice in my head reads it in a pure tuechter accent. I love the way it switches between different characters POV, or is sometimes in 3rd person, eg one chapter will be written from Sick Boy's POV & in Sick Boy's words, then the next chapter will be Renton etc. After a while you can pick up within the first line or two of a chapter which character it is that is telling the story & the voice in your head changes slightly. Like, Begbie's patter is written completely differently from Spud's

Aye it's great how you can tell within the first few lines which character is now telling the story. Need to get this new one ASAP.

just before i go.... i love the 1 stop shop nature of bl. for all your internet needs, or rather for all your recreational , and everything else needs....need film, need a book need a joke. just bored? everything is here.

spade, did my dad stop and ask you for directions? its funny i was talkng to a mate of mine who doesnt know my dad and told him my dad had gone over the border for a few days. my mate went on to say does he drive this car? and my dad had stopped him for help with the sat nav... ive had several small world / small area experiences this week the others can wait till later

im off to the bath. would anyone pay me to do a dissertation or thesis on irvine welsh?

crackhead...you could go on mastermind with it as your specialist subject and youd fly the general knowledge. "occupation?" "part-time crack-heid"

No offence dan but you always seem to make out like your less of a fiend than the rest of us. The fact is your not really, for example you say you never do drugs during week nights, you used to post constantly about your thursday MXE experiances etc. Just an observation.

What mistakes did you make then? Anything of any comedy value?

What are you on about?

I can't believe you've never read any of his books man. Trainspotting is probably the best place to start.

Aye, need to get that changed I think. Kappa has mentioned a couple of times I need to get a few of his books. I guess the prospect of not being able to follow it kinda put me off, but as this won't be the case I'm gonna hit up amazon now and get a few ordered.

firstly, anyone in need of tickets to friday and sunday of Hardrock Calling? 13th/15th ... I've got tickets to the Soundgarden/Iggy Pop day on the friday and the Paul Simon one on the sunday, both won via pepsi comps

secondly, anyone know any good rare book dealers? not amazon or ebay, preferably a dealer with a specific client base or someone who knows where to sell rare or specialised books? My sis is disabled and is one of those competition nuts, spending most of her free time entering comps because she can't get around much. she wins tons - ipads, itouches ps3s, xboxs, the lot.

Last year she won a rare WWII book that's possibly worth a mint and I said not to put it on ebay, would be best via a dealer. any help in finding the best way to sell it for a decent price would be appreciate <3

^ what he said, dealers need to earn a living and will take a cut.
With e-bay you're hoping that there will be two people desperate about buying it and will outbid each other...the amount of times I have seen that happen when the final bid ends up being more than you could buy the item brand new in the shop all due to a bidding war.
Also search for items where the bidding has ended if you're lucky a similar item might have been sold to give you a clue about price.

Take it to the right auction, place the right reserve on it, and pay them your insertion fees. Or you can try your luck and put it on ebay with no reserve.

@ Marmz one of my brother friends is a book dealer, if you PM me the details of the book I'll see if I can get it over to him, it will probably be easier if I just get the blokes Email as my brother doesn't check his very often but his partner always answers texts.

I tend to agree with B&W I've sold a shed load of stuff on Ebay including collectables, not books TBH but I sold a large coin collection bit by bit a while back and a few medals and got a good price.

It's worth getting a valuation, but dealers are looking for a good margin whereas you can cut out the middle man on Ebay, a valuation would allow you to set a reserve if you decided to go that way.

agreed generally, but it's really rare, and doesn't have a bidding history on ebay. looking for a link or info for the item now. will post if I find it

@ B & W: emailing that geezer as soon as I get my link and relevant ISBN off my sis. cheers

I did all this last year but didn't keep notes unfortunately, and didn't get round to selling then due to hospital stuffs going on at the time

will PM you with details as soon as sis texts me with the ISBN, cheers loads

@ Arnold: that's kinda why I really think I'm better off with a dealer tbh. I don't mind paying a fee ... that's no issue. it's the kind of thing dealers have a queue for really. taking into consideration ebays fees normally amount to 20% ish incl paypal.

If I find a dealer with a waiting list it might just mean I get a better price. not all serious collectors look at ebay
