we didn't fall out over it, and he won't be getting a card.

He won't be upset.

My mother will claim he's upset.

She's not right in the head.

He's a 60 odd year old man, he likes a pint now and then, he's retired...he couldn't give a fuck whether his middle aged son sends him a shitty card with a watercolour print of a vintage motor car on it.

I am always getting chastised for not sending cards for anything. What is the point? Seriously? It's going to get binned after 3 days on the mantel piece. And it's not even nice to look at for those 3 days.

Hmmm... that childlabour sent home to mummy-dearest stuff sounds like 100% marketing bullshit to me. Wiki says it's a recent American invention... but similar traditions have existed in most cultures since forever. More a case of making a plethora of similar folk traditions with a plethora of regional variantion a single commercial opportunity by replacing 'em with a catchy two word phrase and a mawkish picture beneath, Hallmark-friendly version.

I tend to agree that such sentiments only mean anything when spontanteously given and actually meant.

No fathers day prezzie for my dad, hes a complete cock

Step dad will be getting something though, hes class

ultimately its all kinda bollocks though, might as well show appreciation all the time instead of slapping presents around

I do agree with the commerical bollocks side of it all for sure, but personally I like cards - I stick em up in my kitchen for years, I prefer getting a good card to a present. It's something I can keep and look back at, or decorate my house with. This depends on it either a) meaning something or b) being really purdy though ;)

I do make an effort to show my appreciation to my mum on mothers day - probably should more often TBH but at least that is as good a time as any to do it, even if I'm not going to buy an overpriced bouquet of carnations and a teddy. Fathers day I ignore as my dad would laugh if I tried to do anything for it ;)

I like getting cards too - never chuck out a card sent with <3

But can't stand bloody themed ones. A well-chosen card picked out to personally please the person its meant for with a personal message rather than some horrid oversenitmental shite poem is always nice to receive.

^in-fucking-deed.

Hand made ones are the best, got some awesome trippy ones from friends over the years inc one involving Pacman, ladybirds and copious glitter <3

I have no clue what date my parents birthdays are, or mothers/fathers day.

Apparently my little sister had an interview for a passport recently and they were suss of her because, alongside her trademark monosyllabic responses to any question ever, she couldn't tell them either parent's date of birth, mine (though I'd be shocked if she remembered she has a sister), her postcode or where we'd lived prior. That and her being suspiciously tanned and whatnot and Mum was raving down the phone to me when they got out about how they could have 'ended up in Guantanamo' haha <3

But aye, not one for father's day or mother's day but I always feel like I should do summat. But then again surely it's better to do random stuff than do it on a set date because you feel you have to? Don't think me dad would mind if I forgot father's day but I'd have felt bad this year cos I've not seen the bugger in over six months and I do quite miss him

edit: lol @ that pic :D

Haha, look who's reappeared! What's happening? You not up a mountain or some shit?

I was still awake, but was nowhere near t'internet. I had an excursion planned but had to phone my pal about 8pm & let her shout at me down the phone as my excuse for not going to either Subby or Chambre was "I'm wearing shorts, I can't be fucked going home to get jeans & I've just spent all my money on Buckfast, clubs are not happening, peace!" when I'd promised all day I was definitely going & that I was definitely not going to be in too bad a state, I was fucking ruined. Ended up back at my maw's sitting in the garden getting a scoop, waking my maw up every 10 minutes by causing a ruckus, my mate's bird spewed on my stairs at about 5am then freaked out & went home crying lol. Successful day out all round really lol.

Edit - I've just realised I have absolutely no hangover. This is not a good thing. It means it's still on it's way, there's no chance I'm getting away with the amount of alcohol I drank yesterday without a punishing hangover at some point.

Ha ha, you are a fucking riot sir!

Nah, was away for most of the bank holiday weekend so felt like I needed a wee rest. Was planning on getting off my chops instead, but fell asleep at about 10. Probably for the best seeing as some roaster from Waitrose turned up at my door at 10am to deliver my shopping.

Blimey O'Reilly this 'ere oxy is moorish 8o

Up to 30mg now and itchy shnozzer has become itchy Shambles in general. That last 10mg also introduced an element of tingledom. All shiver-me-tingles up the spine and also - most notably - a distinctly tightened and tingled ballbag. You could strike matches on it.

^ Very jealous, tis one of my faves!! Good daytime opiate I always thought. Or any time opiate. Very moreish tho..

Lazy afternoon chez effie, attempted to shower but water cold so lazing on sofa.. trying to get energy to move as want to see friends but may fail. Had a tiring week.

Hehe @ tightened and tingled ballbag :D

We do them all now for who is left, father's day Mother's day (hard day for Mrs atm as she lost her mum to cancer a few years back) and birthday's, doubt I'd remember but Mrs atm is good at such things. The kids always make their cards and the Grandparents treasure such things, I never by anything other than blank cards and always try to find at least a few personal words, a little pointless since even I struggle to read my handwriting :)

It isn't a big deal if people don't but its an opportunity to show a bit of appreciation if you feel inclined.

My first go on 'em meself. Longterm hankering panned out well cos there's a potentially fairly large and likely ongoing (for a while at least) supply of UK scripted oxy (both IR and ER - Napp brand) and fent patches suddenly become available. Nicely priced too. I paid a tenner and 13 5mg diazzies for 280mg of OxyNorm which seems a decent deal to me. Dunno about the OxyContin though. He wants a quid a pill and they're only the 10mg ones. Gonna snaffle his Norms first methinks as he wants a quid each for those too. Dunno why he priced 'em the same really. Other than he gets 'em for nowt and doesn't like opies. Good news for me then =D

^ That is an excellent deal indeed! Enjoy Shambly :) <3

Still lazing here. May get dressed soon, may not.

quid apiece seems cheap shambles...

i wouldn't bother, cos i don't like it, so it's not worth it, but i think thats less than the "going rate"
