Yeah, lots of people simply prefer the semi-synthetics over opiate alkaloids and I count myself among them.
Whereas pruritis (itchiness) is exceedingly common as a side effect with sufficient doses, this probably only affects single digits of morphine users so it's not listed as frequently as other side effects that are far more common.
I can only imagine this side effect must be fairly rare, though I'm still surprised I couldn't find it specifically referred to online, and wonder from other folks responses whether maybe some different folks experience this same sensation, just in other areas of their body (which seems strange but who knows?). I also wonder if this for me is possibly just an intense version of the "pins and needles" effect, being that I really have never heard that effect explained in a way I felt I could relate to, I always imagined it meant a tingly prickly feeling all over, which I can't say I've ever noticed....
I must say, I find it fascinating the idea behind how you say some folks simply prefer the semi-synthetics over the natural compounds, I wonder how much different if at all heroin would feel, considering it is semi-synthetic, though then you have all of that "pro-drug" business with it converting into mostly morphine in the end.
I can't lie, I love science and learning in general. It fascinates me how human anatomy and physiology is laid out, and how drugs can exert their effect (though I know relatively little technical info at the moment, and much is not even understood as of now by anyone anywhere). It is amazing how drugs of all types work, and equally interesting how they can act differently on different people. Naturally my insatiable curiosity called me to start experimenting with the drugs that you can feel, the ones that affect your mind, and it's been a chemical infatuation ever since. After some fairly rough lessons in life and experiencing enough of the negativity, I am trying now to have a more mature approach as a handle on things, and return to my original intention of experimenting in the proper manner if at all and not for the sole sake of "partying", as well as really learning and understanding my stuff, which is the reason for this thread. I appreciate the information I have gleaned off of all the responses, and would be excited to hear anything additional.
As for the off topic personal info, I threw that in there so anyone might better understand my angle and why I am making a deal out of something relatively minor, pure curiosity and the desire to learn/understand......
