Gettin' more interested in reading and learning about drugs then to ingest them

I like reading about it. But reading about stuff I haven't tried leads to curiousity, and reading about stuff I have done leads to cravings lol. (Not always, but you get the idea.)

I mean I love reading about the way drugs work, the NT's they affect, which enzymes are involved and all that stuff. I also love reading different experiences from different people, mostly on psychedelics as their effects can be very subjective.

But it's not as much "fun" as taking a drug with friends. I read so much about it because I like to know the chemistry, and the way it will affect me and my body before I ingest it. I can't enjoy a drug (well, i can but not to the fullest, esp. if it's an RC I haven't heard about or a drug with a bad rep.) if I don't understand its mechanism of action. When I know what I'm taking and how it will/can affect me, I'm alot less "worried" about taking it. (worried isn't the right word, not knowing what to expect can be fun, but knowing more-or-less without having actually experienced it is alot more fun ime.)

I've always wanted to take chemistry classes & shit but I suck at math. How hard would chemistry/pharmacology be for someone who sucks at math? (Not arithmetic, obviously, but when it gets to College Algebra & beyond, I just feel retarded. I also don't put a lot of effort into things I don't understand right away, so that could be part of my problems.) I guess that's why I'm an English major.

Lol. What you're describing sounds so much like my train of thoughts in that regard. I'd study biochemistry in a heartbeat if that was the only subject that'd actually matter. And I've been top of my class for english and french all my life while failing math badly, haha.

The only math you need in chemistry is basic stuff - molar weights, valence levels, balancing equations. I topped my chemistry class in high school while barely scraping through math. The most advanced mathematical knowledge necessary is probably basic algebra, though calculus etc can be useful to predict the results of a chemical reaction. E.g. a reaction that produces heat and proceeds faster in a warm environment will have a curved graph if the reaction rate is plotted, and calculus can give that graph without having to actually conduct the reaction. Planning to actually go ahead and study chemistry of some type (probably biochemistry, I'm obsessed with it) next year, one of those "because I can" things.

And to answer OP's question - I LOVE learning everything possible about drugs, chemicals, plants, you name it, even though my personal experience is limited to less than a dozen incidents.

I personally enjoy both doing and learning about all things drugs. :)

I find all the stuff extremely interesting, one of the main reasons i joined this website.

Theres so much that goes into such little things, and so many things that do so many amazing, crazy things.

Oh oh me too! Its like I've found my group click niche!! I love to read and research drugs. If I'm going to take something I do a lot of reading up on it beforehand. I'm going to order the books suggested and read and discuss. I hope this turns into a mega thread we all can continue our discussions.
