I have strict age standards. That I want to break, but can't.

Well Alasdair whats the difference between someone whos 17 and 364 days old and 18 going to buy a pack of smokes? the law is the law. 4 years younger if the girl is over 18, no big deal. If shes under 18, you could have problems. Could. All depends on the girl

there's a mathematic equation for all that.. it's your age divided by 2 + 7...
so for me it's 26 / 2 = 13 + 7 = 20.. I wouldn't date someone 19 being 26

What is this equation based on? I too can assign an equation to it.

I am going to say Age times the cubic root of Avogadro's number raised to e.

so for me its 25x [cubic root of 6.0221415 × 1023] 2.71828 =????

Does that make it an absolute correct fact, only for the reason I have declared it so?

It's probably made up, or a number equation for a moral standard. It works pretty good actually (based on my moral values anyway...)

Level of maturity is not necessarily dependent upon age. I have met 17 year old girls who are more mature than some 30 something year olds I know. Whether or not you get involved with someone is something that should be decided by more important factors than age imo.

Most sane people feel this way, but unfortunately the law doesn't abide the insignificant detail that is sane thinking.

Well see, YOU gave a reason of some sort. That it works with your subjective morals. That might not be universal, but it's a reason. The person posting it offered zero in the way of why anyone should consider it.

Anyone around 17/18 I consider to be a young adult, but there maturity is whats important, and how you click with them. I dated a women 10 years older than me for 2 years, the age gap caused issues.

The age gap extends the older you get, her limit was 6 years younger but she made an exception for me. My personal limit would be 3/4 years younger.

It's weird but, I feel like girls my age are too mature for me. I'm 21 but I'm a kid at heart. But trust me, I have strict goals and serious obligations that I attend to, I just don't take life that seriously at all, so I will never think twice about having fun. I work with this chick that's 20 and pretty hot. One of my managers is 29 and he was asking her out the other day... I found it really odd. Me and this girl flirt and stuff, but I feel like girls her age almost are ready to settle down. I would totally bang her, but I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with her. She takes life too seriously. I never want to get married, I don't want kids, I just want to work make my money get my degree and party. Maybe that will change one day, but I don't see it changing any time soon. I'll probably still be like this when I hit 30. I want to completely rape this life, and get as much fun I possibly can out of it before I croak.

A good formula to go by for age differences is take half your age and add 7. It makes sense in most situations.

100/2=50 50+7=57. 57% of the persons age is the lower bound given.
1/2=.5 .5+7=7.5. 750% of the persons age is the lower bound given.

That's a hell of a spread.

Alternately, between a 100 year old and a 75 year old there exists a 25% difference in age. Between a 15 year old and 20 year old there also exists a 25% difference. But the absolute difference is greater between the older set, to the point that the difference between the older pair exceeds the age of the oldest member in the younger set. So is a 25%? difference okay? If yes then that implies it is okay in both cases. Is a 25 year difference okay? Is a 5 year difference okay? Can you give me a generalized solution that will solve for all cases?

Of course, a model of a physical system should be such that it represents that physical system accurately and is able to give testable and repeatable predictions about the state of that system. In this case, it would suggest that if you find an event of a "successful" relationship which outside the bounds predicted by the model, then the model is invalid.

Lmao, I love how you guys got mathematically involved in this. That is exactly how I am. I am so literal and strictly statistical it's crazy. Maybe it's a form of OCD? My mom was diagnosed with OCD.

I'm 25 and have in the past few instances dated girls aged 19, 24, 37, and 46. There is a 17-year old that I know who I feel may be more ready for a relationship than the 46-year old. Age in and of itself does not mean much.

I work in a brig and we have prisoners in here for that.

^ Well your state is has the age of consent set at 18, which is pretty much indefensible...
