How does the AVG bother you? I've had it for a few years and it's been no problem. Once you get used to it you know that sometimes when you download a file you'll need to temporarily disable it, if not I'll get a wee warning. Other than that it's only if it's a 'critical' update, apart from that I never see the thing unless looking at my hidden icons thing in Windows 7.

That alongside Spybot S&D and I'm sorted, although any rare occasion I've had a virus I've to get some sort of external application made specifically for that virus, but that's happened once in about two years.

Last week's rubbish is still sat festering in me bathroom cos I got it "wrong" last week. This means I either have to sort and wash it "correctly" before this morning's collection or keep it. And given they only collect half the stuff one week and half the stuff the next I get to keep half for another week either way. Fuck that. Blazin' bonfire or moulderin' midden mid-cul-de-sac it is.

I'm fekin with you on the green collection Sham, but round my way they have the fekin cheek to have 3 bins, one for non recyclable waste, one for recycling stuff and another for green stuff (grass cutting etc. ) and we get alternate weeks on the recycle non recycle stuff.

We've got 3. Green one for normal shite, blue one for recycling shite - They get picked up on alternate weeks. Then we've got this pishy wee red one for glass that seems to get picked up randomly about once a month. I'm fucked if I know when it's supposed to get picked up so have to put it out all the time if it's full, only to find it still full after they've emptied the other one.

I pretty much just throw everything in the green one (or glass in the red one), I don't fuck with the blue one. I don't know exactly what's allowed in it. My auntie got big stickers plastered all over hers like "THIS HEATHEN DOES NOT RECYCLE! BURN THE WITCH!" because she just fired all her general rubbish in the blue one once the green one was full hahaha.

MSE is what I run on my Win 7 machines and its been fine, you might want to do a backup of any stuff you want then reformat and load up the OS from scratch then ensure you have MSE loaded, works fro me. That way you will be rid of any residual shite from all the other AV loads. Maybe a job to save for day 1 of a stim run.

I go the other way on recycling, anything I think should be recycled and is clean (ish) goes in the extra big recycle bin, food waste and total shite goes in the black bin. Fek knows what the real benefit of it all is but its not a big job so I've got into the habit and even over 2 weeks the black bin is rarely more than half full and that's with 2 adults and 2 kids in the house.

We haven't had the bin police round our way yet and I'd eat my own arse before I'd pay a fine for having the wrong stuff in the wrong bin

CCleaner is definitely a good one to have installed, doesn't search out viruses etc but can find endless shite that you've never even thought of. Run it once every few days, usually clears out about 100mb or so. Sorts defunct registry entries out too etc.

As for AV, I use Kaspersky most the time, Dad gets cheapo licenses somehow, about a tenner for a year and it's always been good. Lapsed recently though and I haven't had chance to give him a call. Use that or AVG really, don't tend to touch owt else after watching my mate gimp her PC beyond belief by installing all those 'ANTI VIRUS 2007' things which promptly gave her PC AIDS. Not had anything dodgy myself in aaaaages.

Also that recycling thing is fucking mad, think we have three bins at our new place and that's bad enough. At the moment, cos it's halls, we just have two bins in the kitchen, one for paper and one for any other shite and two outside for glass and bottles.

Angry at how shit Facebook is being, why does it show me a full size and perfectly clear picture on my screen when I view it but when I save it on to the computer and view it it's a tiny imagine and when I zoom in it's blurry as fuck. Also when I upload it to a pic upload website at a bigger size, it's all blurry.

How do I get a full size, non blurry pic, from Facebook?

angry at myself for getting in trouble with payday loans again after my last trip to portsmouth turned out to be way more expensive than I had planned and then having practically a whole month with no cash left when I got back I had to payday loan it up and that turned out to be a mistake too as I could have survived barely on what I had but I could have. Bought stupid things that I didn't need too which pissed me off even more, I wish I could self exclude from them or something like that.

Lost my bankcard too, so if the new one doesn't arrive by next friday I won't be able to pay my rent on time as I'll need it to get another payday loan in order to cover the rent, it's getting out of hand again, need to "taper" off them again like I did before, It helped last time getting an £800 rebate in one of my paypackets, that's not going to happen this time though.

Angry too for not telling anyone that I was in trouble with my money as it only led to me hiding things more and getting into more trouble.

Angry for doing MXE last night, too much of it which caused me to miss my booked unrefundable unchangeable coach tickets leading me to have to beg my dad to borrow more money to get a train down for another wedding today.

Finally angry that my mums cancer is worse than expected, stage 3 throat cancer, is in her tonsils, another part of the throat and one lymph node or something like that, still waiting for results to hear if it is Oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas or Hodgkins Lymphoma or non, or whatever the right terms are. Means she will have to have more agressive treatments that her insurance won't totally cover, so gonna get working on some sort of Save Mugabe's Mum website sort of thing this weekend.

Just angry at myself and the world at the moment.

There are some bright lights though which I may post in the snoo thread when I finally get to portsmouth today.

I'm using Ubuntu now, and it works great - easy to use and all, so if windoze does eventually fuck up, I'd recommend that Shambles.
In the meantime, try these 3 things (easy to use and install, and only run when you want them to look for summat...

1. CCleaner - will clear out a load of temp files that might be slowing you down (will also clear cookies, so make sure you have saved your passwords for the sites you use, so you can log back in)

2. Malware Bytes - as the name suggests

3. Spybot Search & Destroy - ditto (just unclick the Tea Timer option, else it will run in the background all the time

Once you've ran all 3, I'd just go back to using Microsoft Security Essentials, and you should be ok - rinse and repeat if you get any more issues in the future...

Oh and if you're having problems installing or updating any of the above, it's likely there's some malware interfering with your shizz - let us know if that's the case

The firewall seemed to either fuck stuff or fail too. Still not gotten rid of the last dregs of it. Same goes for all the other AV software I've tried. How the fuckity fuck do you uninstall stuff on Windoze?!? (Stuff that doesn't want to be uninstalled that is - generic uninstallers, CCleaner, Revo, various other uninstallers don't touch the fuckers )

Given nowt is actually affecting me day to day other than annoyance at things telling me things are affecting me (presumably in ways I can't see with eyes) I couldn't give much of a shite tbh. Was having a bad day cos I had to try to replace the previous AV with a new one. Again. Should've just torrented a cracked one straight off cos the freebies are utter wank

That's odd mate! It should be free. No idea what's up there but I know the feeling with trying to get an anti-virus off Windows, I remember years ago when Norton AV was fairly popular and my dad had it on the PC. The firewall fucked up everything and you couldn't install it without looking about everywhere for any wee remaining files.

I'm quite good at working computers and just general common sense with what links to click and files to download. So I found that Spybot+AVG is fine for me (unless they aren't detecting something) and I have Malware Bytes just in case. I couldn't really recommend any other Anti-Virus as it's been years since I've tried another, I had Nod32 a few years back but don't think it was really suitable for a personal computer. But people comment that it's still really robust and performance wise up there at the top, if you can get a copy it might be worth a shot.

How do you feel about going from Linux > Windows? I've always struggled to do the opposite, I think it's because I've just gotten so familiar with Windows over the years that anytime I try and do it I just really see no point. People seem to enjoy having to setup everything manually and consider it good for people experienced with computers, but I don't. The latest Ubuntu looks really nice though, I could see it becoming a real staple OS if it could just get the popularity. I just don't know too much about the distros either, there is a fair few to sift through. Maybe if I didn't have so many files either.

How do you feel about going from Linux > Windows?

Should first point out that I was very much an XP man for years before even knowing what a Linux was. Then me XP got reamed and had to use a Linux fixit CD to fixit and saw the light

Secondly, in answer to your question, I mostly feel irritated to the nth degree every moment I'm using me lappy for owt other than browsing BL or watching stuff. Which is - frankly - the vast majority of what I do anyway. However, anything to do with files, installations, (attempts at) uninstallations, software stuff in general and the like is pure hell. I really don't understand how it is that Windoze is seen as the "user friendly" option cos it just plain isn't. Horrendous piece of shite that overcomplicates everything that should be a doddle and underinforms on anything that need informing of. Pure wank. If I weren't still in shock at having a legal MS thing it'd've been fucked off within a week.

Will likely be back to Ubuntu (or similar) fairly soon. Already fiddling with 'em on VirtuaBox so only a matter of time and patience really. Also have loads Windoze-format files now - is not a problem for switching to Linux cos Linux can use MS files without issue. It's only a problem if you want to use Linux files on MS software really. If you fancy a dabble just download Ubuntu (probably easiest one to play with at first) burn it to CD and run it off that. No need to touch Windoze or install Ubuntu unless you really want to - can just run it off the CD as and when you like to see if you get on with it.

In AV news, me weekly scheduled scan just finished. Apparently have a gazillion (well, 543 8)) new issues. Some of which may even be genuine. Who knows? One raised a smirk due to being labelled "NobTittyCuntWankArses". Sounds like summat I'd call a file when peeved but is apparently a registry thang which I wouldn't have a clue about. Cos Windoze is so fuckin' inpenetrable

Also, Norton came preinstalled on me lappy and I've never yet shifted the last of it. Nor any other AV I've tried since. Fuck I miss the simpicity of just ticking a box to un/install whatever software I wanted
