I accidently got a small amount of Choline Bitartrate in my eye while I was pulling part a capsule that suddenly broke when it opened. I removed my contact lenses after about 15 minutes after searching online, and used a eyeball washing "cup" with deionized water for about 3-4 minutes since I don't have an eye washing station at home, lol.
My vision in my right eye was slightly blurry before removing my contacts, now it seems fine, but the eye is irritated. There is very mild stinging, and feels like something is in my eye. Choline is highly water soluble, and the eyeball is like a sponge. I'm kind of worried, but I'm not about to go to the hospital on a Saturday over this...
Reading online shows that Choline Bitartrate, aka 2-(Hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium bitartrate, is a serious eye irritant, and it is recommended to"Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.... In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
Thanks for the help!
