Let me begin by saying that I have a huge tolerance to all medication; OTC, prescribed, and recs.
I have family members that are the same way.
Anytime I have messed with drugs around people that have a lot of experience, they always comment that I must have worked up to that dose over a long time.... they are shocked
when I tell them its my first time or that I have only done it 5 times in my life.
If I use drugs consistently at all, the effects rapidly decrease in a matter of days, to the point that it is foolish to even try again, I need months off to feel anything.
On to my question....
I am prescribed 300mg a day of Oxycodone. I still get pain relief, but I only got high from them the first month of use. I don't mind that, I am just glad to have my pain managed.
However, ever since I have been on this medication I have had even more tolerance to other drugs.
I have fooled with coke on and off over the last few months. Maybe 2-3 days in a row once a month. I noticed that the first line or two would be great, and then it was like nothing after that.
I tried crystal meth the other day (only done it 5 times in the last ten years). I barely felt it at all, despite my heart rate and BP increasing. I was also able to stay awake, but had almost no euphoria.
I am thinking that I have completely depleted my dopamine levels. I have read that oxycontin does that over time. Since I have been on it so long and I no longer get euphoria from it, I assume that is
what happened. Further supporting my theory is that cocaine and meth work primarily on dopamine (right?), and since the oxy has depleted those levels, then the coke and meth have nothing to work
with.
Does anyone agree with my theory? Or does anyone have any other explanation?
