I read most of the quran whilst v psycotic and it made alot more sense than when i read it before

Yeah, but 'their' would usually only be used if you hadn't explicitly referred to Madonna already. As soon as you have, then convention leans heavily toward the use of 'her'.

You sir, need to know when it's best to stop clutching at straws. And I need to recognise the hypocrisy in me reminding you it's only the internet. ;)

It's not incorrect to refer to the singular with the plural though. That isn't clutching at straws. I regularly use 'their' when refering to one person, especially when I am talking about 'their' work.

Yes, but context is everything. What's acceptable in one context is downright bizarre in another.

If I said "Here's Madonna. Would you like to say hello to their?" it's obviously wrong, even though by what you've argued above it's supposedly perfectly acceptable.

You just don't see how silly you make yourself look sometimes, pursuing these spurious arguments. Which I know I'm doing now, but only because your sense of gleeful triumph was so misplaced that I found myself weighing in. Silly? Probably.

I'm glad you got involved in this while I was busy laughing at NT on that chat thing lol. It saved me from doing it. MSB, you're wrong. You're partly correct but overall you're wrong. Can't be arsed going into why though :)
