Yes but the thing with bulking then cutting is you are not going to be eating that much for any prolonged period of time are you. It's a 2 month job then cut the calories and do more cardio after ie cutting. If you want to gain weight/size aswell as strength this way is FAR more effective than working every group of muscles daily and eating standard 3 meals a day as Btl O Rough Jack is suggesting. We're on 2 totally different planets what you are talking about, exercising over the course of a day would help with stamina and endurance yes, but it is certainly not going to help with getting bigger and stronger.

And your crack with getting personal basically shows what an idiot you are. I'm a scally but your the one who resorts to name calling or saying you'll kick my ass in a boxing match hahaha epic!!

I NEVER suggested eating 3 square meals a day will get you ANYWHERE(I didn't even mention eating 3 meals a day). I wake up at 5 am, don't eat for around 2 hours while getting ready, then after that I eat every 2 to 3 hours, Until about 7:30/8:30PM when I have my last meal. There's no NEED to get bigger(narcisstic and makes you slower) because you will be much stronger and have endurance.

You only have half a clue what you're talking about..because you want to look like a bigger boy.

WHat I'm saying is it's better for you to skip the bulking period and go straight to getting cut cut cut - you will naturally bulk up a bit anyways...and you will have done it the healthy way, without excessively stressing your body out.

Dee Dee: Not once have I said that your training doesn't work, obviously it does. It's just not what I'm looking for because it would take way longer/less time effective. Where did I ever once suggest sports science doesn't work? Quote please? I've not bothered to get personal or insult your training methods once, which it seems you've resorted to. My training programme is drawn up by a bodybuilder/rugby player/marathon cyclist lol, I think it's very safe to say the guy knows what he's talking about. He's usually £20 for an hours session but does a free workout with me once a week on his day off, which is a bit of a mix of cardio and weights.

Yes obviously I could stick to less food and more cardio, but I wouldn't be gaining anything like as rapidly. The idea of the bulking then cutting is quite simple, gain more mass then go back to toning the mass. 99% of bodybuilders do it this way. If not they would never get to nearly the size they are in their lifetimes.

As I've already said I'm not interested in being 16 stone, nor am I interested in running any marathons really. Just want to look my best, be strong, tough and play the odd game of football etc.

Codders - The guy's a rocket (Edit - I wasn't referring to dee_dee, I meant the other guy. The one that wants to fight lol). He was PMing me all sorts of pish because I lightly took the piss out him for saying his 20 bag of weed had loads of "THC" stuck to the bag.

Fuck knows why this boy is obsessed with your diet not being healthy. You don't see him in the heroin, ketamine, weed threads etc telling people that what they're doing is unhealthy :?
 
Your diet isn't too bad RS, I don't understand all this pasta and rice talk though. The way I understand it protein is the building block you want more of, carbs are there to burn so you don't burn through your muscles, and fats are there to keep everything running smoothly (hormone production, joint protection, recovery etc.) and to help your metabolism. So you want just above the bare minimum of carbs necessary to keep your energy levels up, and to stop muscle wastage. These should be eaten in the form of complex carbs over breakfast, for slow release energy over the day. With some simple carbs pre and post workout to keep your energy levels up, to aid recovery, and to make sure your insulin stays steady. So you are right to be having porridge for breakfast, but i'd give the toast and banana a miss til after the workout. Switch the eggs and toast for eggs and beans and you're onto a winner. And I wouldn't eat too many carbs beyond about 6 pm at night because you're not going to burn them off before bed, so instead of rice with tea i'd probably have a salad or like dee_dee said some sweet potato. At your current weight you want 250-300 grams of protein per day, split over the 6-8 meals. I'd make your last shake a casein one too.

I don't understand dirty bulking. It used to amaze me seeing people walking straight out of the gym to eat a fucking mega bucket, or downing a double bulking shake or some shit. On the otherside I don't understand people like jack who want to enforce their diets and goals on other people. There is nothing wrong with wanting to turn yourself into a gorilla, or skin and bones for that matter. My ideal would be the size Christian Bale was when he played Patrick Bateman.

Crackhead, I know haha. I was finding it quite funny in all honesty. There's pretty much always one on here who tries to argue then can't so they get personal, it's pretty pathetic really. He's probably about 30 aswell which makes it even worse.

MSB, I know about the eggs thing. So far I've had 4 today 1 boiled and 3 scrambled, with beans and 2 bits of homemade wholemeal seeded bread toasted. Tastey! The carbs are very good for bulking so long as your burning them, mainly because there's more calories in them. When I start cutting back I'll be laying off the carbs and eating things like prawn salads, chicken salads etc, just now it's better having the pasta in them aswell for bulking purposes. With the eggs I just whack 1 in my nightime shake anyway just for peace of mind lol.

I'm not that keen on protein shakes I've said before they make me spew sometimes if I drink them too soon before the gym, it's a nasty whitey aswell cos they taste wrechid when your spewing them back up the way I can assure you. Evil. I usually try and make sure I have 1 of the myprotein.co.uk whey impact protein shakes an hour before the gym, and one for immediately after. If I can be fucked I make a homemade one to take after, but usually just the stuff off the net.

Agree on the dirty bulking try to avoid eating out altogether unless it's in a restaurant. Sometimes I'll eat those morissons salad boxes if anyone knows what I'm on about, where you can pick and mix yourself what your having, no idea if they are good for you or not, I'd suspect probably not tbh.

Youll be suprised, I think youll find the pasta, rice and bean salads you find on those counters contain alot more fat, sugar and salt than what youd expect, but its not like your eating it for every meal I would imagine.

I personally like to control my sugar and salt intake so I try to prepare and eat my own food at home as much as possible, apart from the odd occasion I go out to a resturant (like this coming Friday), and even then im still annoyingly going through the menu with a fine toothcomb, lol.

No more like once a week/fortnight. I know they are probably full of preservatives which puts me off. The pasta and rice I have at home I cook myself and everything that goes in it.

I agree with the cook it yourself thing. If you look at the % of your RDA fat or saturated fat even worse most shop bought samwiches or pasta boxes are about 35-40% of your saturated fat. Bogging.

Scotsman, I've still got about 3kgs off a 5kg bag of unflavoured whey protein, the stuff is just not very nice to drink at all. I'd rather sacrafice it and take the flavoured stuff tbh.

I know to 'improve' aesthetically, i get that ... from what i see just walking around Tescos, most guys in my town just exercise their biceps to fuck (dis-proportioned to a ridiculous amount), wear a wife-beater to show em off, get a spray tan .. but you look past their arms and that tight t shirt, and the rest of them looks simply stupid as a whole.

why does bulk make you feel confident? what's wrong with being average or normal on the body side? can't see where bulk builds confidence [edit] I'm not saying it doesn't, but just wondering how you think it appeals to wimmenz .. since that seems to be what you're doing it for ... which again, i have no issue with, but don't really understand it

the more you bulk, the smaller your cock looks in comparison, and I don't think you need any more hindrances in that department ;p

Ha, I picked up weights for the first time in a couple of months today, got to get back on that for strength and I could do with improving my flexibility too, feeling frickin' old.

I arranged to meet some neighbours out last night for a couple of hours in some really sh*te high street club type thing they was going to.

I had some women pulling my t shirt off and showing all there friends and generally trying to molest me.

im not going to lie, i quite enjoy the attention, i mean why not, if you care and work hard at something its nice to get some recognition, even if its from naff pissed up hen party type slappers, lol.

i kept having to remind them, wrong sex love for starters...

I think that type of bulk attracts the wrong type of women (in my opinion, maybe RS likes them? lol). Usually those blokes just end up with a thick as fuck peroxide blonde on their arm, which suits them down to the ground.

I can see why getting bigger contributes to confidence. Personally I get a confidence boost from strength, so i'd feel better if I was 12st and could bench 120kg than I would if I was 15st and could bench 100kg. I think it's something to do with the fact that the stronger you get the less of a threat other men are. I don't think many women understand this, and I don't think all men do either?
