Do you have an alltime favorite movie?

Its All Gone Pete Tong comes to mind. I'm sure there's more than one favorite movie of mine, but that is one movie I always enjoy watching... no matter how many times I've seen it. Its just a really good story, I love the soundtrack, and I love Paul Kaye in it. It is cheesy but it makes me happy.

swooped up The Tenant, haven't watched it yet, but if loulou speaks highly of it, i gotta check it out.

i was actually thinking of watching Its All Gone Pete Tong recently, when i first saw it i was consumed with this pipe dream of moving to Ibiza.

if any asks now, i can easily say 2001: a space odyssey is my alltime fav. just brilliant plus i believe in ancient aliens, and ima kubrick fanboy, so 2001 is like pr0n to me.

Reading this thread made me feel like it was 2004. Finally that Bush/Cheney bumper sticker makes sense again.

Favorite movie? It changes on irregular basis.

Maybe 'North by Northwest' or 'Enter the Dragon'...'The Royal Tenenbaums'...

Oh god, I'm afraid of commitment.

I don't really know. How can you tell which one is your favorite? It's like when people ask me what my favorite song is - how can I choose just one? I can think of at least a dozen films that could be "favorites", but I'll be damned if I can pick just one.

^ so list a few of them and tell us why they are, at some point in time, your 'favourite' movie...

But that's not in the spirit of the thread. I think if you can pick one movie as your "all-time favorite", you need to see more movies.

at gunpoint, i'd say Bottle Rocket and feel alright about it. it has the soft, saturated aesthetic of the 60s technicolor films i adore. it's hilarious yet innocent. it has a romantic sub-plot i swoon at despite not finding the actress completely beautiful--which is a big challenge between movies and me. the characters are great, and because it is his first feature film, they do not feel like anderson's recyclables. nothing about it comes off as contrived--the grace of a film that is supposed to be. it's there to look pretty and tell you a fun, sad story.

lots of films mentioned in this thread that at some point i have thought of as "my favorite." when i was younger i always had a favorite movie. and it was my favorite by miles.

Baraka. Seen it 50+ times and look forward to the sequel which is out now.

But that's not in the spirit of the thread.
i disagree. from the op: "I can't say what my alltime favorite is...I have a favorite romantic movie, favorite action...actually what am I saying..as soon as I think about it, I realize that my favorites switch depending on the day and mood I am in, and when I try to say a genre favorite I babble off about six titles..."
I think if you can pick one movie as your "all-time favorite", you need to see more movies.
i tend to agree.

touché...

i have seen a metric shit ton of movies. the fact that i have one favourite is a testament to that movie's greatness, not the fact that i need to see more movies. :)

Aliens, hands-down. I've probably seen almost twenty times, and each viewing is almost as good as the first time. In fact, I think it's best action movie ever made, and have yet to see another one that can make you feel like you've been wrung dry at the end, like it was too much of a good thing

I've seen Aliens so many times it is not even funny. I could quote it line for line without even missing a step lol

Yeah to pick one would be impossible, too many different genres. So heres 3 that arent similiar for the most part

Goodfellas
Dumb and Dumber
South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut

I was hesitant to say the SP movie at first but I still quote that movie to this day. And the songs were actually pretty catchy.

Another good movie from the South Park guys is Baseketball

I'm terrible at picking favorites. If forced to, I'd say A Clockwork Orange. It's beautifully shot, has a killer soundtrack, and actually managed to be better than the book (an incredible feat, because the book is brilliant). Kubrick is a genius. And I have a thing for dark movies.

Close runners-up - Requiem for a Dream, American Psycho, Trainspotting, Grave of the Fireflies, Apocalypse Now

Difficult. Might have to go with Oldboy.

In very close 2nd, 3rd and 4th - Mulholland Drive, True Romance and American Psycho.

Ace Ventura Pet Detective part 2 When Nature Calls

<3 Jim Carey

Also for the cliche ones that I love:
Requiem, Fear and Loating, Spun, Boogie Nights

fargo

the woodchipper scene is overrated, sadly that seems to be the movie signature moment
the exaggerated accents are awesome
despite being mostly hilarious, some extremely disturbing scenes

my favorite scene is when the police officer interviews the bartender shoveling his driveway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oy2HfixB9_8

love the 'i said, he says, i say, he says, i say, he says' story telling style
'looks like she's gonna turn cold tomorra'
