Discard everything except these few truths: we can live
only in the present moment, in this brief now; all the rest
of our life is dead and buried or shrouded in uncertainty.
Short is the life we lead, and small our patch of earth.

"Man lives consciously for himself, but is an unconscious instrument in the attainment of the historic, universal aims of humanity." - Tolstoy

I've always liked "Elm" by Plath.

Oh, thank you for posting that! You know how you once were moved beyond comprehension by a poem but then forgot about it for years and years? (Maybe you haven't lived long enough for that LOL!) Well, I loved this poem, once upon a time and have forgotten all about it and haven't even read Plath in years, but reading it here today it filled me just as completely as ever so thank you!<3

"The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over."

Hunter s. Thompson

Rudyard Kipling from Tommy Atkins said:
You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck him out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An' Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool -- you bet that Tommy sees!

Yeah, that's basically how it goes, he put it excellently.l

“To look life in the face, always, to look life in the face, and to know it for what it is...at last, to love it for what it is, and then to put it away.” - Virginia Woolf

This hope is so hopeful to me, very inspiring.

"I always wanted to go again. You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn't like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it." - Grandma from movie Parenthood.

This quote is so true.

"If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear."
- George Orwell

That sums things up nicely. Someone has every right to be offended by what I say, but they have no right at all to tell me that I should not say that which offends.

IRL, that is, of course ;)

"Take my advice, I'm not gonna use it."

Basically the story of my life - albeit I'm trying to change thats these day.

I'm the same way, I need to be upfront with people and it usually is the truth about things they do not want to hear. I always appreciate the same given back to me but find it is harder for most others to do so.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there.” ~Jalal ad-Din Rumi

Wrote this the other day:
Sectio divina - the never ending math equation.

My blood pumps faster; my pupils become enlarged; my perception is widened. What pumps my blood may lower your blood pressure. What I perceive through my eyes is my reality; albeit you have eyes as well - we all just need to use a monocle.

"Where's my prozac?"

“Wherever fate demands me... I will go.” ~Gertudis Gomez de Avellan
