In my mind. The choices are many, the consequences
What would he possibly do to help me? I admit I'm addicted, severely, to benzos and opiates. I doubt methadone would be an option because my probation officer is a dick! Hell, I tore a ligament, ruptured another, tore muscle, broke capsules and hit my ankle bones so hard they're bruised yet this cock took my Percs and said "try tylenol". WTF?! So yeah, I'd guess methadone isn't gonna be a choice. I just know I need help and quick! Thank you!

EDIT: I put it the wrong way, what could he do? What options are there for addiction?

Any doctor, with their compulsive paranoia about lawsuits and such, would likely cut you off of any addicting medications if you told him/her you were an addict. Also, I was on methadone for years, and got it at a methadone clinic, never a regular doctor.

Well, for a benzodiazepine addiction, they could do a taper. The taper would probably incorporate diazepam, but every doctor has their choice of what they like to taper with for benzos. Diazepam tapers are not supposed to be very rapid, they are more of a drawn out thing. At least that is what would be best. For opiate addiction, methadone or buprenorphine could be part of a maintenance program, or even an opioid taper program. Another option is naltrexone, and opiate-antagonist, which can be taken daily in pill form, but is also offered under the brand name Vivitrol as a once-monthly IM injection. Either way, naltrexone will block the effects of an opiate, and possibly help with cravings.

Whoa whoa whoa, your PO took away your meds? You can sue for that because that asshole's not a Dr and doesn't know what's best for you. And second, did he take the Percocets and put them in his desk or pocket? You need to tell a police officer, or your Dr. about this ASAP. I bet your PO is having a hell of a time with your percs right now IMO. He fucked up BIGTIME. You need to tell a cop that your PO stole your meds and get a lawsuit going.

Ugh, well hell I don't wanna just be cut cold. I'm tryin to avoid wd's. I don't know what to do now. I know the next poster mentioned a few meds but your post has me concerned I won't get any help.

I know I don't have the will power to taper myself. Hell, I've bought about 30 or so benzos to help me get thru till my next script and guess what...I have to buy more today already :/

He came to my house and said he wanted to count them, which was fine bc the right amount was missin. Well, after he had them he says "you know you're not allowed on narcotics durin probation" and (ready for this??) DUMPED THEM INTO A BAGGIE!!!! I shit you not. I've called the director, waitin to hear back. And this was like my 5th script! He never had a problem with it before.

Your doctor will refer you to a certified drug counselor. You may be admitted for inpatient treatment to withdrawl. As far as your PO taking meds away that were prescribed by a physician for legitimate pain, I'd report him to his supervisor.

Oh shit.

I'm sorry if I seem to be digging into your personal life, but was it court ordered that you're not allowed to be prescribed any narcotics? When I was on probation for selling Valiums, I was allowed my Tylenol with Codeine and my .5 Ativan along with all the other meds I needed and my PO never counted my pills, nor opened up the bottle. Just wrote down the prescription name and number and we just continued with the rest of our visit.

I'm willing to bet he's high as fuck right now. Demand a drug test for opiates and if he's not prescribed, he's down for the count.

This truly upsets me and i'm so sorry you have to deal with this bullshit, but something needs to be done about that.

Did he have the baggie on his person? If he did, it seems like he just came over to STEAL your medication that you NEED.

Yep time to hire a lawyer and sue the fuck outta the county probation department try to get his ass on tape admitting that he took your meds cause you want more evidence then his word vs yours. As for your addiction I dont think your PO can stop you from getting on maintenance unless your on some drug court program where you waived all your constitutinal rights.

Actually it was quite the opposite. The judge ordered me to take all meds prescribed to me. Which I told the director in my message. He also decided to call my dr and told him do not give me anything but Tramadol. I'm on Tramadol now, which suck btw. But get this my psych and pcp said takin Tramadol could cause me serotoin (sp) poisioning because I'm on Effexor XR 375 mgs. But hell, what am I suppose to do? I've been in a cast up to my knee since Dec 3rd tryin to avoid surgery. And yes, he had the baggie. There was another po with him who said "man, just come out unnannounced and count them so it's basically monitored". But nooo my po wanted them and I thought all along what you do, that fucker is gettin high on my shit! The only thing I don't know os if I can really do something bc the judge said take ALL meds given to me but the po papers say no narcotics. However I know PLENTY of people, same po, that are on morphine, oxycotin, you name it and they get no shyt. I guess the director will let me know if I have any options. I also wonder why he didn't take the bottle :/ This is all around fucked up!

Yeah I agree. Next time he comes over, have a hidden video camera set up and when he asks to see your pills, let him look at them, and if he puts them in another baggie, start asking questions about why he's coming to your house stealing your medication. Maybe throw a little fit too.

This is beyond fucked up. It's sadistic of your PO to be stealing your pain pills THAT YOU NEED. Please take our advice and asses this situation.

TRAMADOL WHILE ON EFFEXOR?!? That's a free ticket to the ungodly Serotonin-Syndrome. He's trying to kill you in my eyes. Evil, sadist fucker he is. I'm so sorry you have to go through with this, dear. He jacked your pills for himself. Can you drive? Report him ASAP!!!

*UPDATE* I just got a call from the director. She had my file and...drum roll...it wasn't documented he took anything from me. She's on her way to go speak with him and said she'll call me back.
And I had a witness, a really good one, my teenagers in home therapist. Big smile. Pardon my language but mr po be fucked!

Haven't read all posts, but I will ask this:

Are you using your meds from doc recreationally or taking them as directed with maybe an extra here or there?

There is a difference b/w medically addicted (which is normal and expected by most doctors) and recreational/habitual use.

Actually I had got clean in '10 and never touched any opiates till Dec '11 when I messed up my ankle. And to be honest it was sort of rec. Let me explain...If I was hurtin, I'd take as prescribed. If I hadn't needed any durin that day/night I'd take all extras for fun.

Here's something I just thought of...I googled signs of SS since I'm on Tramadol and Effexor. My last pcp appt, about a week or so after startin the Tramadol, I found out my kidneys aren't functionin very well. That was determined by a urine test. He followed up with blood work and I got the call my blood work looked bad and I need to go back in this upcomin week to dicuss it. Could the Tramadol with the Effexor be causin this?

Good thing you called the director. Now his ass will be fired AND on probation!!!! :D

And yes it could very well be what's causing your kidney problem. Tramadol is an SNRI and Effexor is an SSRI so they both have impact on your Serotonin levels in your brain. Too much is way bad. Is there any way you could be dealing with the pain without tramadol? Maybe a friend could "gift" you some opiates?
