People have been dropping left and right in western Canada from MDMA over the last month or so. Nobody seems to be totally sure what's going on, my suspicion is a cutting agent that is either causing allergic reactions or simply dangerous under the wrong circumstances (PMA, etc).

VANCOUVER — A third young person from Metro Vancouver has fallen victim from a reaction to the drug Ecstasy in less than a month.

Police said Monday that a 22-year-old woman was with friends at a house party early Sunday morning when the partying turned tragic.

BC Ambulance Service paramedics and firefighters with the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service provided emergency treatment on the woman around 6 a.m. but she later died in hospital.

Police say the victim, who was not identified, willingly ingested the drugs. Several of her friends also took the same drug but did not have a reaction, according to a police statement.

Vancouver police issued another warning to people using Ecstasy about the drug’s “inherent risks” as well as warning drug users who have used and don’t feel well to seek medical attention immediately.

The past few weeks have seen a rash of ecstasy-related fatalities in both the Lower Mainland and Calgary.

The drug left a 17-year-old girl from Abbotsford, B.C., dead and a 24-year-old woman from the same Fraser Valley community in hospital in critical condition.

And in Calgary, authorities issued similar warnings about the drug after the deaths of at least three people in that city.

“People need to be aware of the extreme danger of ingesting this drug,” said Dr. Judy MacDonald, medical officer of health for Alberta Health Service’s Calgary zone.

The caution came after three ecstasy-related deaths, including two young men in the days leading up to Christmas, and dozens of alarming ER visits.

The deaths came less than a month after a Calgary teen overdosed on Ecstasy at a house party. Alex Kristof, a Grade 11 student at Queen Elizabeth High School, was taken to the hospital after taking the drug. He died there a few days later, on Nov. 30.

Since April, Calgary emergency and urgent care departments have treated more than 100 people for ecstasy-related health concerns.

She was gonna be a lawyer... what a fucking tragic waste of life. R.I.P.

Aye, a very sad story indeed. My sincerest condolences to her family. These are times when - for example - you wish you could rewind the clock, meet up with her and flush that pill down the toilet. It's happened to a lot of us unfortunately, myself included.

If anyone residing in the Vancouver area who's planning on rolling is reading this, I beg you, please invest some money in an ecstasy testing kit - it may save your life. There will always be another party. Dancesafe.org sells kits for a good price and the proceeds are going to a good cause. Afaik, they are based on the west coast (U.S.A) and your kit should arrive within 2 weeks at the most if you're north of the border (2 weeks is what it took for my order and I live in southern Ontario. Don't take chances with your health because you may only get one when it comes to street drugs - and your health comes first above everything else. If it helps motivate you to get your very own kit, think of your family - whether it's your parents, or your wife and kids - having to bury you at - possibly - a very young age. The friends and fun times can wait - your health cannot.

Also, as someone who's been following these incidents in the news for the last few weeks, I'd like to state that the Vancouver police have been surprisingly accurate in their portrayal of MDMA to the media, in terms of its effects, risks, and chemical composition. Obviously some journalists have gotten their anti-drug agendas published, but I can't recall reading any direct VPD quotes that were overblown or fear-mongering, which is (in my opinion) a breath of fresh air in a world where cops are throwing pot smokers in jail for years.

SAD. I wonder if testing kits would identify the dangerous impurities? If there's some PMA or some other kind of other toxic bi-product of MDMA synthesis, then the test would probably come out looking relatively clean anyway UNLESS you have a kit that is designed to test for said impurities. To my understanding, Reagent test kits test for the presence of some popular cuts/fakes, but that's really it. If you test a pill/powder, and the test turns dark purple, there could still be other things in there, just simply mixed in with some good MDMA. I could be wrong though.

Does anyone know how much she took? ROA? Other meds/drugs she was on? It's fishy that lots of people took the MDMA, but only one person fell ill. Was it determined to be an overdose? Poly drug use? If the molly really was fatally-toxic, why didn't everyone get sick? I'm highly un-informed about the person or the situation, however this screams OD/poly drug or otherwise indirectly related to the MDMA use, not directly, otherwise you would've had groups of sick/dying people from that same party, not just one girl. Just my humble opinion...

First time extreme allergic reaction? There where 2 deaths in london not so long ago, both at the same event, everyone started crying impure or some sort of strange chemicals in with the MDMA, it turned out both the incidents where not related and it was just 2 horrible coincidences, MDMA and nothing else it tested as..my condolences anyway

not sure about the BC deaths, but in Calgary, AB - one of they kids who died had consumed 8 PILLS!!! Reports say that there were others at the party who only consumed 1 pill and had to be treated by medical staff.

I do recall last summer testing a certain pill using the Marquis reagent which briefly turned orange (possibly indicating meth) followed by a change to a dark purple (kind of like the pupil animation in your avatar), which would also possibly indicate mdma.

I do realize that's not very precise - say - compared to Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) but it's a start.

If you're worried about PMA, the best reagent to test for that would probably be Mandelin. Also, there's a newer reagent available now which specifically tests for Phenylpiperazines (MCPP/BZP/TFMPP) as well as others which test for unusual ecstasy adulterants such as cocaine and lsd and even the recent popular RCs such as MDPV, etc. Pillreports' affiliate offers these ones for sale at - imo - a very reasonable price.

One more thing, some people have told me that the reason they don't buy the kits is because they don't have a credit card. You could always go buy a prepaid Visa/MC/Amex. They sell them here in values ranging from $20 to $250 last I seen and they are usually sold at chain drug/grocery/super stores as well as Payday Loan companies such as MoneyMart.

Hope this helps.

Wow this is sooo sad. Ecstasy is suppose to be an amazing experience filled with love, happiness and positive energy filling the room and people are straight DROPPING DEAD. All i know is if i took some ecstasy and started to feel sick from it when im suppose to be experiencing rushes of pleasure and euphoria pulsing up and down my body...i would definitely seek help.

I wonder if the 'MDMA' was actually an RC.....or cut heavily with one? In this day and age of MDPV, mephedrone, 2C-x's, all these crazy RC's that are flooding the market, I have not a single doubt that LOTS of people push 'molly' that is actually some cheap/unsafe/untested RC... I bought pressed pills one time that I could swear was actually a 2C-x + caffeine. Same exact OEV/CEV effects as 2C-i, except with EXTREME jitters and anxiety. Sucked balls...

This is what triggered me to buy a test kit immediately. When I tested these particular pressed pills, the test didn't turn any color at all. Scary to think what the fuck I could have taken...

Canada - Ecstasy laced with meth blamed in 5 Calgary deaths

"The street drug ecstasy that was responsible for five recent Calgary-area overdose deaths was laced with other, more potent compounds, according to toxicology results."

The headline made me angry... neither MDMA nor methamphetamine were the cause of these people's deaths. I suppose PMMA wasn't enough of a buzzword to make it to the headline. 8)

well at least they didnt just say mdma has killed again! like so many other articles would have said. the point here is adulterants are what is responsible for most of the ecstasy related deaths. meth is one of those adulterants that is often responsible whether or not it was in this case how can you be sure?

why dont these articles ever post toxicology reports? the ones that do usually point to adulterants. also what site can you get the test kit that identifies pipes? i am very interested

Jesus, that's eight bodies in western Canada over the past, what, month? I wonder if the Vancouver deaths were PMMA too,
