not heard much about the Rum diarys, gonna look into it. baffles me why Senna was only shown once in cinemas as far as im aware of, yet loads of over rated over the top CGI shite gets shown for months, when senna was fucking amazing. definitely didnt get the credit it deserved

came out in the UK 11th of November. Chap at work gave me a copy of it a few weeks ago, just opened it for the first time now and the quality is dogshit :(

edit: as crackhead mentions, fucking cam release. I'm sure my mate said it was decent quality but I now have doubts about his eye sight.

edit edit: I'm surprised how much I enjoyed senna considering how much I hate F1

yeah ive lent it to a few people who dont like F1, they find F1 boring etc, but found the film amazing. i love motorsports, cars etc but find F1 boring as fuck. love old rally footage etc Group B rally, they should make a proper documentary about that, would be good
 
Bunraku is quality crackhead saw it ages ago, half way between Kill Bill and Sin City. Never knew that about the Rum Diary's, will try downloading.

Well, started ok, not the best but I was watching it cos it was not too bad.

Got a bit strange about halfway through when it totally diverted off anything I had expected. The ending was one of the worst I have ever seen in any movie. I genuinely don't like always seeing a happy ending, but this was far too weird. Ends with the guy killing his kid (unawares it is his kid) because he's been duped. Little to no worthwhile conclusion other than a few faces that featured earlier in the movie. Fucking sick movie. Whoever made that should have their head looked at, weirdos.

I really liked rum diary (the book's better, but the film is still well worth seeing) It got slated a lot by people were expecting to see fear and loathing 2: donny jepps gonzo adventures in drug land. They even squeezed in an acid scene into the film that wasn't in the book to appease these people, it's pretty much like if tolken wrote a really good crime novella and it got slated because there weren't enough orcs in it.

You can't spoil something that's already shit. It takes a severe nosedive half way through the film.

That's exactly what I've said. Although I've not seen it yet, I've said that I suspect all the people saying it's shite have been expecting F&L round 2. Which The Rum Diary is definitely not. I reckon if you liked the book they'd need to have proper fucked it to make you not like the film. Johnny Depp actually IS Hunter Thompson, it's frightening.

Aye, it takes a mad twist halfway through the film but you just blasted out the ending. The bit that make you go "OOOOFT!" at the end. Now everyone that's read your post already knows that's going to happen. Bad form, that's all. Even if you think the film is shite you should still NSFW major spoilers like that.

I'm gonna have to watch it again, that's two people in the past week that have told me they thought it was pish. Both me & my mate who went to see it at the cinema thought it was great, the only bad bit was when the credits rolled & we were like "What the fuck?? Is that the end? Surely not!!".

We were jaked though. Totally burst on a comedown from the night before, sitting in the cinema at midnight on a Saturday drinking a bottle of Buckfast lol.

Anyone suggest any films for tonight? I'm stumped been looking at top 100's on download sites but I've either seen them all or just don't fancy them.

Rhys Ifans as the infamous drug smuggler Howard Marks.

Very interesting film IMO. <3 Fascinating story. =D Ifans seems to be a 100 % ideally perfect fit for the role. David Thewlis is also awesome as the larger than life IRA loon with whom the smuggler becomes involved. A must see film.
 
^ 'Drive' was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Kind of reminded me of Pulp Fiction or Boogie Nights, absolute masterpiece of a film, had a bit of everything. Can't recommend that highly enough!
