Skrillex? What do you guys think?

I hate that so many people seem to hate Skrillex just because he's so popular. I hate to say it but I bet a lot more people in the underground crowd would like him if he wasn't so popular. I don't think being mainstream is reason enough to not like an artist. I saw the same thing happen with Muse. That said, I do like me some Skrillex but I also enjoy Excision, Doctor P , Zeds Dead and others as well.

well these guys produce annoying shit as well. imo with producers like them, it's all about who can make the nastiest wobble sound, which i find kind of boring....
 
i personally HATE shrillex and don't think he is doing very good tings for electronic music.

Errr, it sounds exactly like electro; electro being an abbreviation of electro house.

Almost all commercial dance music these days is hugely influenced by the electro house fad of 2005/6.

The worst thing I've ever noticed happening to dance music TBH.

Fucking hate the stuff.
 
No idea what he's like as a person, but I really enjoyed Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Generic or not, the melody line/grinding contrast really does it for me. Not sure if that would get me into the hipster club. Then again, I've always listened to weird and sometimes monumentally "embarrassing" music, often off playlists that are so confused I label them with seizure warnings.
 
He's ok. I don't mind a few of his songs but it just shits me that everyone knows him as "dubstep". When really he is nothing of the sort.
He is a bunch of wack transformer-style samples mashed together. Not to mention he uses the same samples in literally every song.

I don't hate Skrillex. I've seen him perform and enjoyed his music in 2010, before he started to release the same sounds over and over.

I do hate how people think of him as the vanguard of dubstep. Hearing someone say "I love dubstep!" (meaning Skrillex only) is grating.

In his defense, he is a damn good showman. Might have something to do wiht the fact that he's been a rockstar since he was 13...
Musically, however, I can't really think of anything positive to say. He's terrible. As many have said, SAME FUCKING SAMPLES over and over. Very obvious to me that very little time is put into his tracks. You want some real dubstep/drumstep w/e, check out xKore's most recent EP!

Everyone hates on Skrillex just because his association with dubstep. I don't really care too much about his music, but his production is absolutely amazing, as most would know if they're in to production. I saw him live and was thoroughly unimpressed at electric forest, but he's not a dj, hes a producer. Most of his songs are electro which really is the only thing that bothers me with everyone thinking theyre "dUbh3adz!" when all they listen to is skrillex...smh at dub scrubs. But, hes not a bad guy, and his music isnt terrible, his electro is pretty bangin to listen to when other djs drop it live, imo

xkore is fuckin dope, but thats just not true at all, skrillex puts more time in to his production than most producers..he just cant dj for SHIT...pre-mixing for shows, what a scrub lol
 
I like rocking out to Skrillex after a nice bowl of shardy. In my opinion, he has only 3 decent songs. The rest all sound the same, it gets boring after awhile. I don't hate him. I do prefer some old school FFTL. That was Sonny Moore at his best.
Dr. Philth is my favorite though. "Mrs. Blackbird" and "Diazepam" are pretty good.

And, IMO, everyone hates on Skrillex just because it's the 'cool' thing to do.
 
oh man.. i was at an event this weekend and I got to hear some idiot teenager go on about how skrillex invented dubstep. Was fucking hilarious but I really hope he was just trolling us.

dont like brostep for more than 2.5 minutes at a time, plus I gotta be rolling and baked and only after not hearing it for at least 70 years. Ive found that no matter how i try to listen to it the ROA is always anal.
