Teen Charged With Running Mushroom Drug Factory

I don't know how it is where you live but saying only a quarter of a pound sounds rediculous. I have seen kids life's get ruined just for getting caught with an 1/8 on them. As soon as you cross some state lines it's like a different country. And them saying the booms were packaged for sale is just dumb. He could have just bought them and they were still in the original bag. The story should have been more about him selling weed than growing booms. It also didn't mention finding any equipment you need to grow them such as incubaitors. They just found spores which if anything is intent to grow but I was under the impression that the spores weren't illegal

This is a mushroom "factory" in the same way that a plastic soda bottle containing some pseudo ephedrine tablets and solvent is a meth "lab". It makes the public think the law enforcement effort is worthwhile instead of a waste of money and it gets better media ratings and generates more advertising dollars.

You have your opinion and I respect that but on another forum, I'm familiar with a grower that got caught with 500 plants and is looking at probation with no jail time.

Its awful that anyones life would get ruined over any weed and yes, a qp is much larger than an eighth but there also places where a qp or more is a normal stash.

Read CaptainHeroin's post for example.

At the end of the day, this is a harmless plant and any government prosecuting those who choose to use it should really have a change of policies. Prosecuting marijuana users wastes money and time while there are real criminals on the loose. In some places, such as Chicago, the police are starting to accept that they simply can't afford to do it anymore.

so an 18year old KID has his life thrown into shambles over less that a pound of pot? LESS THAN A POUND! annual pot production is some few hundred or few thousands TONS annually. This KID is getting a record (he though it was hard finding a job before? pffft!) over less than a pound, fuck, less than a half a pound at that.

I hope whoever books him gets to read this.

You didn't make a single fucking difference for anyone except the kid.
You didn't prevent harm to anyone and you caused it to this kid.
I hope when your old an gray YOU get booked for smoking on MMJ.

Completely agree - so ridiculous that words fail me!

It's just like how when they find a guy with like 500g or 1kg of mimosa bark trying to make a piddly few grams of DMT they call it a "DMT lab". Makes it sound like they're actually doing some "good" and busting big timers instead of just ruining some sole, isolated dude's life.
QFFT. They're trying to raise their collar. Get a promotion. Sound like heroes in the paper. Feeding their hungry ego's.
