'Blunt' joke at drive-through leads to arrest of Burger King customer

to the guy that said smoking in driving is wrong there is a news article in this section that actually say marijuana decreases traffic accidents compared to alcohol. whether that means weed is safer to drive on or that stoners just dont leave the house as much im not sure. i know that i can drive fine when stoned.

It is true that people crash less often when stoned than when drunk, but that is not a fair comparison.
Compared to sober drivers, stoned drivers have slower reaction times, and they are generally less successful drivers.
Therefore, I generally agree with the idea that people should not drive while stoned.

(That said, I have had experiences when I simply had to drive, but I was incredibly tired. Smoking weed helped me by giving me mental energy. I was probably a better driver, at that point, stoned, than I would have been sober. But drinking a large coffee probably would have been safer.)

You guys seem to be making a huge amount of assumptions on the character and thought processes of the employees involved, namely that the BK employees were naive and they should know better etc. But as was mentioned, they run fast food, they probably deal with weed a lot. I suspect the situation was less of 'Oh no, I smell marijuana, call 911 immediately!', and more 'Right, this guys taking the piss, I don't wanna deal with this shit call the cops'.

The driver was already gone though. The BK employee called the police with the license plate number, so it's not like they called the cops so that they didn't have to deal with a high customer. It was over and done with, and they still decided to call the police to report the stoner.

I think the employees are uptight tattletales and the customer was an idiot. I don't really relate to, or pity, either one of them. Personally, even if my own urine and rap sheet were clean, I would never snitch to any authorities about someone I knew was using drugs (although I might have a word with them, in private, if I felt they were posing a danger to someone else with their use). But nor would I ever advertise my drug use, period. There's just nothing to be gained by doing either deed.

I'm still surprised over the fact that food industry people could have this sort of attitude. One time, I was leaving work, and my manager was smoking a joint on the sidewalk and called me over. We talked for a few minutes and he seemed as though he was completely ignorant to the fact that he was smoking a joint in public. I'm pretty sure at that point he was aware that I was a pothead at the time though.

Also, I use to go and "help out" an entire taco bell-the manager and the employees. They would give me free food and soda and we would all get stoned in the taco bell at the table made for small groups while people outside wondered why anyone was allowed to eat in the dining area past the time it closes. The manager also told me that if I needed a job, I should feel free to apply. This all started cause a buddy that worked there hmu about the issue of them lacking pot one night.

I miss those times sometimes.

I'm not kidding. I know this may sound like bs but all of this really happened.

^ I fully believe you. My friend who worked at pizza hut said they would hide lines of crushed percocets under the keyboards, have "team meetings" in the walk in freezer, their corporate person of whatev would show up, give them all adderall, and have them clean the shit out of the store before inspections. AND I know somebody who works at taco bell, it gets pretty dead there during the week, so they get to climb up on the roof to smoke.

I believe it as well. Every single person I know who has worked in fast-food restaurants has mentioned how drug use was considered to be 'normal' by their colleagues. That's what makes this news story so incredible.

If you saw someone who was very drunk and driving a car, would you try to stop them?
Not saying that drunk and high (stoned) are equivalent dangers (see my previous post for my thoughts on this), but it is true that it can be dangerous to drive while very high. And, due to the drug war, people don't always have access to reliable information, so they might falsely believe that driving while drunk is the same as driving while high.

the charge is a felony. oops! shawn probably learned not to tell random people he uses drugs from this experience. unfortunately now he will be required to.

To pot it bluntly, these guys were bowling for trouble; this joint really had it out for them, and I guess they got nipped in the bud, and their plants went up in smoke; it was kind of a sticky-icky situation to be in, and now they've blazed a trail off a cliff; the whole thing was kind of half-baked, really.

I'll keep my day job.

Fucking disgraceful, i bet they dont call the cops on all those drunk drivers who pass the drive through wreaking of alcohol on theyre way home from the local bar! Still these stoners are fucking stupid too...it makes u wonder if BK knows that theyre success and the whole idea of the drive through is thanks to the marijuana smoking community.

That's a shame. With wit like that you could write for 2 1/2 Men.

I always tend to read these articles in the voice of that guy with crystal white teeth and hair, the guy that looks like hes made of playdough and he does the voice over on polices wildest chases etc

edit I FOUND HIM

Now evertime you read a USA police report you have to do the same.

This BK is only a 20 minute drive away from my home, and lit up our local news stations as if it were a murder-suicide for three fucking days. A god-damned 32 year old acted stupid, and got ratted on. Great, when can we hear about the weather? Somebody is getting a potato in their exhaust tonight, and one less customer.

I would argue that being tired or having a low IQ has more of an impact on driving performance than smoking weed does. But stupid people get licenses all the time, and I can't think of any cases of a cop asking a driver if they got the medically recommended 8 hours of sleep last night. There is no doubt in my mind that I'm a better driver stoned than half the sober drivers on the road. So to restrict my driving for being stoned, but not because the guy next to me for being an idiot makes no sense.

But anyway, everybody use *67 and call (904) 532-2000 and thank them for making the world a better place.

i hate people who report shit like this

i understand reporting robbery, assault, car accidents, etc w/e

yea the man acted carelessly and probably deserved to get caught, but nosey ppl annoy me
