None of this matters, in Brimz's rules you're not allowed a luxury and you're allowed 3 albums, not 8 tracks! 8( RS69 you messed with mind.
 
It's not 8 tracks, 8 artists I posted couldn't decide on albums. I thought he said 8, not 3? Can't be arsed going back and checking either cos I'm heading to sleeps ;)

I also thought he said a luxury aswell. Unless he edited it or my head is completely spannered.

You are stuck on a desert island and are allowed to take with you 8 records a book and a luxury.

The original radio programme allows 8 tracks, a luxury, a book and NO DRUGS (that would be an interesting format change) :D Brimz's version is 3 albums, a book, a drug and no luxury, the tight bastard.

I was confused too ;) but I've already done mine according to my own rules which allow both drugs and luxuries, and as I say, there's no going back.

Fuck it I don't know why I'm policing his thread! I'm taking it all too seriously, lol.
 
Miserable fucker, I'm not going without 8 records, a woman of my choice, still take the pistol with one bullet (for her obviously ;)). I assume brimz would not send me anywhere without checking there was a field of ganja in the middle.

Satellite phone should work at least some of the time and you could solar charge it, this would give you the Internet as well, but since we get no such luxury on Brimz island :(

I went for something with Guitars n melody , Some Hip Hop obviously although that was real hard n i could change my mind every hour on that n something to dance too !

For albums I'd take Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde, The Roots Rising Down, and Jonny L's Saw Tooth. Good mix there.

For the book I'd have to go with The Hobbit. Lord of the Rings is too lengthy and detailed for my scatter brain.

Hmm drugs a tough one. Brain's saying cannabis, but then I'd want baccy and rizla to make a spliff with. Smoking out of a coconut shell doesn't have the same appeal as chilling on a beach with a fat spliff and a bit of Bob blasting out. Fuck it tho, weed it is.

None of mine are unchangeable, ask me on a different day etc. Parliament Live gets in because its a double LP, not because its my favourite George Clinton vinyl. Stone Roses also gets in on length, otherwise I might just take the Fools Gold 12". Kevin Ayres could be Syd Barrett could be Sex Pistols could be Lee Perry/Prince Far-I/Bob Marley etc. Drug was a proper toss-up but maybe its easier to be out of it on weed all the time than opium. I like to shit now and again. Crime and Punishment is 600 pages and, erm, involved. I could equally have chosen a book I have with about 200 beautiful colour pictures of hash/weed/plantations too though.

I would think that Human nature is " survival " .

This thread is as shallow or deep as you want , cos theres plenty of opportunity to think about it beyond the Material things

Would distilling equipment be considered an acceptable luxury or is it just a sneaky way of obtaining an extra drug of choice?

If it's the former then that's my luxury. I'd probably go down an ambient route with the records; Soundtracks For The Blind by Swans, Chill Out by the KLF and whatever Throbbing Gristle I feel like taking at the time. Though I'm pretty sure the answer would be different on any given day.

Weed still edges it, probably.

Not in all cases or situations. For me anyway I could see it being valid for a period of time, but then the truth of utter hopelessness and sheer boredom would drive me to opt out.

SO HARD picking music. All the things I love I can recall every note of, but they still do good things to me when I hear them. Illmatic for example - I know every note and every word and could probably recreate it in my head rocking back and forth on some faraway beach.

Kinks Preservation (double album, I don't like the second LP much but there'd be time for it to grow on me)
Prince 1999 (another double, again I don't get on with all of it)
Something Eno, don't know what.

I'd listen to these all on one day every year then put them away. I'd also want to take some instruments and a generator and set up a little studio but that's probably not allowed.
 
I would definately go down the survival route at first, I would probably spend months trying to escape. However if it came to it I would like to have the option available and the pistol with 1 shot at the ready.

I think anyone suggesting taking MDA, or other euphoric stims would be reaching for it sooner rather than later. I can imagine desert island comedowns are prettys savage.
 
SAm , i think that distilling equipment is no good sorry , mind if you can come up with a way of formulating a substance from natural plants that might be growing go for it .

N before y'all say , NO theirs not any opium Poppies i checked;)

Jancrow , pick yer favourite strain . As i mentioned Cannabis cultivation may be possible as its a Sunny island .
