Joint Rolling - European vs. American Methods

I took a leaf outta our American friends' book when rolling joints, and stopped rolling with tobacco. I still roll cones but not massively coned.

Always ALWAYS used zig-zag roach tips, and often wet my lips then put the whole joint in my mouth and pull it out (lips pursed) fairly quick - this provides a slow even burn.

I can't STAND joints with tobacco in them anymore, it makes me feel sick at worst, and at best leaves me with a grim taste in my mouth - I've rolled this way for the past 5 years.

I will admit tobacco makes a joint burn better, but it makes the high more sedative, makes it taste like shit, aaaaaaand provides you with a horrible addiction to nicotine (mmm nice ;) ).

I'm starting to roll more cylindrical than coned the more I grow up, and I usually roll toothpicks if I;'m smoking by myself, and big fat Bob Marley joints if with a group of blazers.

^How do you go about "toasting" your tobacco, out of curiosity?
I toast my cigs for rolling hash joints, you run a flame over the cig, moving it back and forth and rolling it, it makes it much drier and leads to a nicer smoke imo. Some people say it removes nicotine, but that's bullshit.

Sorry Vadar I didn't mean to sound patronising. I meant if you type into google 'joint rolling methods' and then 'site:www.bluelight.ru' it searches within Bluelight and gives you a much better search result than you could get using the forum search engine.

+1

Didn't know that thanks man

Oh and as for my joint rolling technique, Start with elements rolling papers and a rolling paper tip of your choice(I use raw or elements). I put the crutch on the left side, fill it with bud in a kind of cone shape, and roll from left to right. When I get to the end, I switch my fingers up, tuck the paper, and roll upwards until its tight enough. Then lick, seal, twist, and light up.

Yeah, it does. Don't worry, I wasn't patronised, and I don't take offence easily.

Toasting doesn't vaporize nicotine but it sure does vape out some nasty parfumes and other shit that the tobacco industry puts in their stuff. When you toast a cigarette and smell the smoke from the toasting it almost spells like candy :'D I use pueblo rolling tobacco without additives etc. so thats not a concern for me.

For a hash joint, I prefer a toasted cigarette because it's drier than any rolling baccy. American Spirits are additive free, when I've got money and can afford to be a real purist I use only those and Highland papers. Pueblo is nice with weed though.

^That's interesting, I smoke spliffs all the time so I oughta try toasting the tobacco sometime. Any way to toast rolling tobacco? I use Bali Shag for spliffs typically and don't buy cigarettes since I got a hookah (soooo much better) so all I got is rolling tobacco.

Here's something interesting you adventurous spliff smokers might dig- try using tobacco from a clove cigarette (now called clove "cigars" in USA but they're still cigs) for a spliff. I've been doing it quite a bit recently and really like it. It's smoother than regular tobacco because burnt cloves release eugenol which is a local anesthetic, so for those that find spliffs too harsh clove laden tobacco might help. Plus the joint crackles when you smoke and tastes highly spicy, like cloves oddly enough.

I don't smoke cigs, I buy them just to skin up with. You can toast up rolling baccy on a bit of foil, but I wouldn't bother. I've not tried it with clove, but I've smoked spliffs made with menthols, and it's OK, but I pay a lot of money for tasty draw, why would I ruin that flavour?

I've done menthol spliffs myself. I mostly smoke Mexican schwag, so a little non-weed flavor doesn't hurt, definitely not top dollar stuff. I've never thought of it before but do you Brits get crappy weed like we do in the states? I never hear British peeps talking about schwag and brick weed.

I used to buy cloves, empty them, and then mix about 50-50 with weed and repack. They were useful for smoking in public because the smell of the cloves would help cover the smell of the weed.

We get African weed, which is seedy bricked up rubbish. We also get Thai, which is much better, but I don't really like it. The really terrible stuff is "soapbar", horribly adulterated hash, literally has little bits of plastic carrier bag in it.

(this is in my experience only) I've found most (80%+?) of the weed for sale around my parts to be of pretty high quality, it's good but compared to some of the shit you guys from cali/etc can get. It's probably average at best!

Saying that though, i've seen some terrible terrible plants on offer before. Crap weed is everywhere, just like good weed. :)

& be glad you don't have soap bar, srsly.

Years living in Europe means I have a distinct "English" style to my roll. If given the option I mix with tobacco because I like a relaxed spliff session with no time limit. For me it is more civilized and relaxing to take our time to smoke and watch a sunset without having to suck it quickly and pass it on. In Australia it is more about bongs and pipes which I personally find gross. I'd much prefer to take the time to construct a nice spliff as a sign of craftsmanship.

Yeah I've noticed that too, after smoking a clove spliff the room I smoked it in will smell like cloves much more than it smells like weed.

Vader- Sounds like African weed is similar to Mexican weed here, bricked and seeded. I usually get Mexican weed cause it's an incredible amount cheaper, allowing me to smoke joints and blunts all day even on a meager budget.

I've heard of soapbar on here before, stuff sounds way nasty.

The Thai "weed"-"sticks" that used to come through during the 70's & early 80's was quite nice, what happened ?
Iget "Michoacan" once in a while - quite fresh w/o compactor smashed seeds, not bad at all lots of red & orange trichomes, predominantly sativa -a little (tarry) but overall worth every
decently priced $...most hipsters would call it shwag...whatever, they buy their quarter oz's for the same price I can get an full oz. of this for...

That's what I'm talkin bout man! A lot of Mexican weed is good stuff. Probably 80 or 90% of the Mexi I get is like you describe- green with lots of red hairs and whole (viable might I add) seeds. The closer you are to the border the better the schwag is it seems, and I'm in central Tx so it's pretty damn good in this area.

Plus, I pay about 8-15 times less for schwag than I would for higher grade weed, and I'm poor.

I've come to like schwag a lot, even when I buy chronic I'll use get a dime or two of schwag to go along with it, dank just doesn't do it for me at night time, gotta have that heavy, cloudy schwag high.

Protip- the seeds from Mexican weed produce plants that grow very tall and produce very nice weed that is seemingly 1/4-1/2 red hairs on the buds. And the strain is bred for high yields so you can easily end up with 4-8 oz of weed from one plant. Unfortunately I can't grow now and haven't been able to in a while, but if you do grow Mexican weed is super easy to grow.
