Television The Walking Dead

I'm not so sure I'm a big fan of that one guy getting accidentally shot by the girl. and then he doesn't even die? a bit of a creative cop-out, right?

but I'm glad to see the zombies in the barn :) some great scenarios should be in order with that right there

When you get one of The Boondock Saints in a show, you cannot kill him off until the last season. Norman Reedus is one of the highest profile actors on the show, if not the highest profile. I knew he wasn't going to die simply because of this.

If Sophie doesn't come back then her mother needs to die as well, however. She serves no purpose to the group. While the blonde girl is at least attempting to become a team player and a useful member (failing, but trying, with the possibility of becoming a future badass) Sophie's mother is complete dead weight.

this little girl shit was getting on my nerves but at least they are using it to show shane and ricks clash.

That plot was pissing me off, especially as they used it to remain in one setting for what has to be 5 episodes now, right? The setting is finally interesting now that we have been alerted to the fact that the nice old animal doctor is actually a moralistic dictator who keeps a stable full of zombies.

Mark my words, there will be a showdown between the two camps. I believe some of the old man's guys or girls will switch over to Rick's team to catalyze it (I'm thinking the most likely choice is the girl who fucks the Asian kid), and we will see just how power hungry this sweet looking old man is when "his people" begin to become "Rick's people." He will do something fucked up, but what it is is hard to guess. Perhaps he throws traitors into the zombie stable? Is that fucked up thing around because they have something against killing the dead, or does it exist as a way to keep his followers loyal? The loyalty idea makes sense to me due to his overzealousness to rid his community of the new guys as quickly as possible. Perhaps he didn't want the new guys to become aware of this insanity, and in turn make "his people" realize how insane these living conditions really are, after all the work he must have done to get them to accept such a horrible thing in the traumatic wake of the apocalypse?

in the sneak peak for next week episode it looks like shane lets her die. god i fuckin hope so. not even good looking just a fuckin bitch.
or for those who haven't seen it they are in a position where a walker is coming at her and shane has his gun on the walker. she cant load a bullet in the chamber and shane lowers his gun as the walker closes in on her.

I really hope the blonde chick gets eaten soon.
Sofia's mom might be dead weight but at least she isn't harmful to the group.
The blonde chick is either crying, flipping out, or fucking up all the time.
They should have had her sister rip her throat out last season when she changed.

For some reason I think they are trying to turn her into one of the more competent members. She fucks up a lot at first and then saves everybody's life at the end. It's a pretty typical plot, and the one I feel is coming. Also, she may save everybody's life (or at least Dale's, as she owes him a life-debt) at the expense of her own some time towards the end of a season.

Or she becomes such a fuck up that somebody in the group kills her (looking at you, Shane :X )

She is definitely the best looking girl on the show. She isn't great looking, but farmer girl is kind of plain, and Rick's wife is like a stick figure with no titties or ass, or even cute eyeballs. Every show needs some kind of eye candy.

I didn't see that preview but i'm going to take a guess and say that she survives that attack somehow. Then she returns to the camp, aware of just how sociopathic shane has become.

Oh shit!

Which is exactly what yelled out when Darryl fell down that embankment a second time. That whole part of the show that focused on him this episode stands out as the best this season, IMO. I was on the edge of my couch throughout the whole thing (and actually refusing to answer texts!). Best episode this season, I think.

Personally, I prefer to keep many a ho in my stable, not zombies. Any chance those are their bitten loved ones?

So, I was somewhat sympathetic with Shane, before, and his critical decision. I believe he truly wanted to save Carl and "win over" Lori. But now? He's fully loco and needs to be independent.

And blondie with the shitty aim? She's a lost cause. Why does Dale take her under his wing so much? Axl, is it her that you're referring to in the Dale hook-up? He is the only one who can stand her! (while they were discussing the tagging of Darryl, there was definitely a "look")

One last thing: Lori's pregnancy. My timeline is way on this show. Obviously the big dilemma here is that she's not sure if it's Rick's or Shane's, right? (I mean, how long has it been since Rick joined up with them?)

Ax

good one :)

and you pretty much got the Dale thing figured out. and yeah, most likely we will never know if the baby is Shane's or Rick's

as much as I like Norman Reedus, I would've been okay with him to die. a big plot-point of the show should be like in the comic, where "no one is safe." literally, so many side and main characters die on a whim, it's crazy. but realistic. thought they were going to shock us here, but they just fell into that poor writing trick of "we didn't shoot him in the face, just skimmed him is all"

re: Andrea. honestly, Andrea is the most disappointing character of them all to me. Andrea is a special case in the comics. she evolves SO MUCH from when her sister died to the bad-ass gunslinger that she is today. looks like she is not going to go that route, to say the least, in the TV series

I don't know why Shane is so hung up on her. I know there are no replacements around, but i'd rather get my best mate back than get to keep her... They hadn't built up their relationship on screen enough before Rick returned for the possessiveness story line to be anything but plain annoying. As far as i'm concerned they just banged for a few months in secret. So what? She's hardly anything special - in terms of looks or personality. The 'redneck' guy is brilliant. I would happily see the rest of them die so he can go off alone and we can see some adventure.

AXL, I haven't read the comic but I like your comment on 'no one being safe'. That is what I loved the most about the first season, but now they are staggering the deaths because they know they've got to make it run for dozens of seasons and that's what's killing it. I think we lost more characters in the first 6 episodes than we're gonna lose in the next 3 seasons... (and no i'm not counting random country bumpkins who get killed, i'm talking about the fact that in the first season we lost about half of the crew)

I'm pretty sure that the walkers in the barn are relatives/neighbors of the vet. He told Rick that he thought there would be a cure at some point so it's possible he thinks they can be brought back.

^ yep, good observation. things should be getting messy here pretty soon. the farmer, Hershel, is a character who is punished the most in the entire comics. since he is a devout Christian and all-around good Southerner, his Jesus Christ pose must be something fierce

I post on a couple forums about the Walking Dead. this has been brought up as a possible spoiler for the missing little girl (Sophia):

After watching season 1 (no experience with s2 yet, ignoring the endless spoilers on this thread), I gotta say I was disappointed with this show. It's SOOOOOOO sappy and melodramatic, it just sucked every ounce of believability out of the characters. Zombies are my bag, but it's the characters that make or brake a story.

I agree with you there. The comics were way better at the "no one is safe" theme. So far I like the series but I agree that more random deaths would be more in keeping with what I think the series is all about.

amen, bro, amen. they need to kill some more people HERE!

I wish I could like the series like yourself, a fellow reader of the comics (woo! issue 91! insane!)

but right now I can only give it an okay. thank God for Hershel and his zombies - I hope they do that one right :)

^Yeah I was really surprised why they didn't kill off Shane. All I kept thinking was WHY HASN'T THE KID SHOT HIM YET!!!!! lol

But I like the series mainly because IMO its done a good job of transferring the comic book to the screen the idea that the original comic writer had in mind. And that is following a group of survivors after what most zombie movies end with to see how they cope further down the road. I mean most zombie movies end after a singular crisis and thats that. Here we actually get to see what goes down from one crisis to the next and I dig that.

Honestly, they dont have enough characters to kill anyone off. Think about it. They need basically everyone for one reason or another. Shane can't die because he is the antagonist force now, the bad guy. Really the only disposable characters are the main ones, and that makes for quite a paradox...I dunno. It's an interesting show but yeah in retrospect it seems like it was slapped together rather quickly.
