Tramadol and Codeine Problems

I'm not sure if this is the right place to come for help, but I am not really sure who to ask. I have tried my Doctor (who is very good) but this seems to be outside of his area of expertise.

I have a bad back and do many things to help but the thing that helps the most is to take both Codeine and Tramadol (so 60mg codeine and 50mg Tramadol) dineat the same time. Tramadol particularly works brilliantly for the pain but with the combination, I can have a completely normal life. Maybe even better than normal, as I have more energy and feel great.

The problem is that after taking it, I can't have sex for about 48 hours. I can deal with the other side effects (nausea), but that one pretty much is as bad as dealing with pain itself.

The only drugs I know of to help this problem (Viagra/Cialis) are prohibitively expensive in my country and not covered by insurance and/or government health care. Thus are prohibitively expensive.

Has anyone else experienced these sorts of problems and/or able to give me any advice?

Yup just had this experiance myself - helping me get off the opiates because... well... no matter what anyone says opiates aren't beter than sex. Unless maybe if it's pure oxy or H and mixed with coke, which is pretty fucking good, but to give up sex for it?...

You know you've only got two options - you switch to non-opiate painkillers and do the withdrawal (you're on a low dose anyway... well for us recreational users) and deal with the pain or you buy the Viagra. Where on earth are you that you can't get cheaper generaics anyway? I don't know the exact rules for talking about sources on this forum but I bet you could order it online even if you lived halfway up a mountain on a little island in the midddle of the pacific...

Pure truth. But funny.

I guess all drugs have different effects on everyone but it seems to be the Tramadol that causes most of the issues. I think it is the SSNRI effects. After all, Tramadol/Antidepressants are used off label for being premature. After a long period of using both Tram and Codeine it took nearly 2 weeks before sex was good again. Unfortionately codeine alone does nothing much for me, I don't know why (maybe because the back pain is more nervy?).

I tried it again to see if I could take a small dose and get away with it but was surprised to see it had the same effect. I have even tried only taking it in the morning (to play sport) but it seems to effect that system for a long time (of the order of a day) so you can't even have sex 12 hours later.

Does anyone know if you can adapt to this side effect (after all, you become tolerant to the constipation and euphoria well before the analgesia)?

As far as I know, they don't have generic viagra/cialis in this big island country/continent in the middle of the pacific, if anyone knows any different......? They are both roughly 15-20 dollars a tablet here (which makes for an expensive night). I'm not sure how well drugs bought online get through customs since everything would have to go through an airport.

As for withdrawal, It's not that bad from my sort of doses but I just feel demotivated for ages after stopping taking tramadol, that stuff is like a wonder drug. I just get really achey and sore in all my muscles and can't play sport well without it. I am not interested in using it to get high, just for pain relief, so only take therapeutic doses.

Any advice would be massively appreciated, I can't even find the right person or specialist to talk to. My doctor doesn't seem to be able to help me. I don't think he has had a patient have such bad sexual side effects from these sort of drugs before. The only thing he suggested was to not use them to confirm that was the problem (which I did).

Opiates in general tend to drive the libido down and even if you are horny, sometimes they just make your body too numb for you to feel anything down below. Or worst yet is when you can get it up and can have sex for a while but just cant finish the race. Its a terrible, terrible joke that somebody <insert religion here/or not> is playing on us. Sorry to hear. Get your back corrected if you can and get off the opies. Thats about your best option.

Viagra/Cialis can be bad for a person who does not need it. It can increase your chances of having that woody that just wont go down no matter what you do. Thats what I have been told by medical professionals (no, I was not seeking viagra/cialis or other penis pills).

Hope you get it figured out.

In the meantime you can always try a nitric oxide supplement. Nitric can help get ya up and saluting.
