To start off I am not nieve to opiates in the least. I discovered them around the age of 16 and have been using on and off up until now (I am 20). This is (I believe) my 4th time getting clean from opiates.

Currently I am physically addicted and believe I have been using for about 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 months (it's hard to be exact when your so foggy but its probably closer to the latter.) usually daily. Dosage is about 20mg morphine IV for a good maintenance and a slight rush.

I am going to be quitting both out of my own will and because my dad found syringes for the 3rd time or something like that and he (though well deserved) screamed in my face yesterday morning, waking me up at 7:30 am... Not a good way to start the day.

Currently (and luckily as my dad didn't see my stash in the same drawer) I have at my disposal about a half a dub of powdered H (quality varies blah blah) but to clarify I can maintain for 6 hours twice with this. I also have around 50-65 mg of morphine 100ABG, which is probably overall much more potent than the for-mentioned Diacetylmorphine... yeah I can spell fancy!

I work both today at 4:30pm easternUS, and tomorrow, not sure when, at a new job at pizza hut. It's not the most demanding work but I fear dealing with customers while withdrawing would be enough to get on my nerves alot.

After these next two days I then have a 4 day period in which I have nothing on monday, class on tuesday, wednesday, and thursday.. (only taking 3 classes and they arent that strenuous, as i am more worried about my new job.) Then work again on Friday, Sat, and Sun. It's these 3 work days that bother me the most.

I am definately physically addicted but I do not beleive my habit is as bad as it has been in the past (this 3 or so months of use is coming out off a big sobriety period, and my dosages have been well monitored.)
So here is my plan. Ween a bit during these next two days and maybe even save some for the coming work days then just jump off right after work tomorrow (Sunday). During the 4 days, of which 3 contain school, I will take no supplements like loperamide or suboxone and will try very hard to exercise, mostly running. I might try to force myself to the gym and do some weights also. Hopefully, by next Friday I can be well enough that taking 2 or 3 lopermadine 2mg a day will stave off withdrawals for my Friday--Saturday--Sunday work session.

I want your impressions, do you think I can do this and be o.k to work again on friday? Will exercise decrease the withdrawal experience drastically? Tell me what you think.

-With love,
Mangoman.

I would start the loperamide earlier, take higher than normal dose (probably over 20 mg). Get the exercise started before the most severe withdrwal symptoms start, and try and make rigourous and not for a short time). Keep this up as far as you can as withdrwal fully kicks in. Try to eat as normally as possible, plenty of complex carbs, fruit, veg, and protein. Utilise vitamin and other supplements if you have them, in particular Vit B complex, Vit C, DLPA, and Tyrosine.

Have hot baths after each exercise session and try and have an exercise session in the early evening as it may help you sleep.

There are loads of other threads on bluelight that cover withdrawals, that you will find a life saver, read them now!

Good luck

Good luck my friend - and Just to let you know when I was kicking methadone, the most helpful thing for me was Loperamide. It really worked wonders for my w/d. I was in hell, or at least my body felt like it, until I finally decided to try some Loperamide to see what all the hype was about. Before I took it I didn't think it would work at all. But I was wrong, it really decreased my physical withdrawal symptoms by about 50%. It isn't a cure-all wonder-drug, but it is definiately a good medication to have in your toolkit when you're kicking opiates of any kind. Once again, I wish you good luck with your kick! :)

yeah lope helps a ton. exercise does too because you get more energy at times when sick and the feeling afterwards is great.

it can be hard to start exercising but once you get it going you want to keep doing it because you feel much better. dont overdo it with weights though or the soreness will kick your ass.

blood pressure medicine helps more than anything though. if you can get some from a clinic or whatever i strongly adivse you to do it because its the only way you'll sleep

Baclofen, Gabapentin or Pregablin are purported by some to sigmificantly reduce withdrawl symptoms.
ibrought them up with my doctor but he said clonidine was mostly prescribed. and it did take away LOTS of symptoms. sleep like a baby too. no RLS wakin you up every 20 minutes

From my experience, clonidine, didn't take enough of my withdrawal away to also keep the depression away. No matter what way you look at withdrawal from opiates; it is he'll! Anytime I thought or planned to get clean, I was never withdrawing yet when I would make the proclaimation to quit-but I was certain I could be strong enough when it came, to go through with it. But you all know, when it comes, it sucks...and second thoughts of using to feel better, and depression dominate your consciousness. Withdrawal blows, and ever touching an opiate to begin with blows. It steals your natural existence FOREVER; even if you get clean, you are never the same again. Sorry to be raining on everybody's parade. Just pissed at myself when I think about the first time I picked up, and started this whole nonsense. Here's a good proverb for some of you: if you have never done an opiate, heroin, oxy...keep on NOT ever doing it!!! You'll always be better off not having done it. No joke.

Unless your in acute physical pain aye. Shit drains your natural feel goods which don't come back over night. My plan is to replace the using void with excercise and just hope im not a wreck on work friday. I can probably go see about clonodine. The thing about starting loperamide tomorrow is that it (although mild) still is an opiate and will latch onto receptors in my intestines and make the process a tiny bit longer. So I think I'm going to abstain from everything until work on friday.
