Joint Rolling - European vs. American Methods

I have always used Club papers from France (ever since I burnt 5 different papers by themselves) & the Club had about 70% less ash than
any of the other brands. Another tip for new rollers - roll the paper all the way up, then back down 7-8 times to form the paper -
place a large pinch (of sweet leaf) on each end (so the middle is empty) start rolloing the formed paper up & back down a few times & the reefer will
even out across the length If you use the clubs you have to lick a narrow strip across the top & tear it off to form a jagged edge
re-lick the jagged edge (or it will not stick) twist ends into tiny points & yer' set ! I usually set mine on top of my amplifier for a few minutes
so it burns evenly w/o running...

i'm american but i've always put tobacco in my joints, and occasionally in my bong mixes as well. maybe it's because i'm a cigarette smoker but i prefer smoking it mixed rather than pure. i generally like to use rolling tobacco in my joints rather than cigarette tobacco.

another thing i noticed about german smokers is that when they're rolling, they like to have a piece of paper folded once (so it makes a V shape) to hold the tobacco and weed and they use the paper to pour the mix into their rolling paper. don't know if this is true for all germans but a german bartender once told me it's a very "german" thing :P

We had a thread about european vs. american joint rolling techniques, but I can't find it...

I'm from Canada and I have never rolled with tobacco. I actually had never heard of people doing that until a few years ago. I don't smoke weed anymore, but when I did I used a pipe. I'm terrible at rolling and pipes are just easier..

In germany the prefered way seems to be:
thing longpapes
filter called "tip" here, basicly rolled up cardboard
always mixed with tobacco about 50/50 or 60/40 in the favor of weed.

It's the way I do it and everyone I ever met beside the occasional freaked out hippie talking about the government trying to control us with tobacco and therefore smoking pure.

The pros for me are: with the tobacco in it's WAY easier to roll. It burns way better, especially if you have some not so good weed which is pretty moist or dense.
Also the taste is better for me (I'm a cigarette smoker btw.) and nothing gets wasted, most of the time i put in an extra tobacco base, so i can stop smoking the joint before the filter without having wasted anything substancial...

A lot of my friends from Ontario will roll with Tobacco but here it's pretty much unheard of. They also don't usually roll with just a single paper either. They also call an "Eighth" a "Half-Quarter", I thought that was strange.

The only thing I do different when I roll a joint is I won't lick the glue and then finish the joint. Instead, I'll finish rolling the joint, lick my lower lip, and run it across the top of the glue part to seal it.

OUCH!!! Mixing tobacco in a bong?? Isn't that harsh as hell?? Being an American, I never mix tobacco with weed.. even when I used to smoke cigs I never did that. I think it is the pure taste of weed that I and most people I know prefer.. it's so tasty and rolling or cig tobacco isn't as sweet and pungent.

Anyway, I still have heard of people doing it but NEVER have I heard of mixing tobacco in a bong. I feel like that would just straight up burn your esophagus.

By the way, it's my 28th birthday today, no big deal...

^Tricky at first but when it's mastered, you don't need to worry about getting the right sized roach for your joint, and the roach gives the paper some stability when rolling.

Here in Canada we usually roll tobacco into our joints, but then again we are part of the Commonwealth :P. I occasionally put some in with my bong packs as well, but I've never met anyone else who does this.
actually tobacco in joints is more of a montreal thing then canadian, theaverage smoker in ottawa will prefer a joint without tobacco, even if they are ciggarette smokers,
the filter/tip thing i really love about canada, rolling what we call here "jamaican style" (some people call it american) is something i hate,

We had a thread about european vs. american joint rolling techniques, but I can't find it...

I remember that thread. Tried looking for it about a week ago and couldn't find it. Was a good thread.

In Toronto, most people I know roll with roaches. Among my group of friends, if we roll it's either a kingsizew, a Randy (rolling paper with built-in wire to hold as roach clip) or a Rand-L (Randy with a zig-zag). Normally we mix tobacco, but the odd time we'll roll a pure. If we're smoking bong, it's split between batch-bowls (weed+tobacco), pure bowls or poppers (metal screw-off downstem. screw off top bowl, grab a chip of tobacco and push it in the top of the cylinder. pack weed on top. clear in one hit, makes "popping" sound when you clear hence the name. Heard of others doing them in the UK as "shotties", Ontario and select other places in Canada and US). I personally will go for anything depending on my mood. I'm not a cigarette smoker, but most of the time I do prefer smoking with tobacco because I find that the weed smoke is too harsh and the tobacco smokes smooths it out. Also I feel they synergise well, and actually makes tobacco somewhat enjoyable to smoke(to me - hate smell/taste of tobacco).

i have a friend from huntsville, and they call their poppers dazers

I always use tobacco for the roach, and however much tobacco I need in the meat to fill it out nicely with however much weed I'm planing on smoking. Folks always called my style a "euro". I hate paper roaches.

^I like it. I generally roll spliffs with about 80% weed, give or take 10% and the rest tobacco, and I use good rolling tobacco, usually Bali Shag. Everyone has different tastes.

The first spliffs I smoked seemed way harsh to me, but I got used to it and now I find them smoother. If you already smoke tobacco then it probably won't seem very harsh. Most of the smoke is still weed in a spliff.

I'm American, I like tobacco in my joints most of the time these days. I sometimes mix tobacco with a bong bowl. The harshness depends on the bong. I have a big bong with about a 2 ft neck and a big chamber, so hitting bowls with tobacco is pretty harsh. A friend of mine has a smaller bong with almost no chamber, and it's much less harsh through that thing.

I still smoke tobacco with weed through my bong sometimes. It's pretty harsh but not so bad once you get used to it, and it provides a very strong tobacco rush and effect. And I find tobacco potentiates weed nicely. Plus it makes bowls last longer, I can mix in a pinch of tobacco to a medium sized bowl to make it a big bowl, and get a few more hits out of it.

Happy birthday

a good joint:
is nothing but herb. tobacco ruins the taste.
has a filter at the end
is a perfect cylinder, not conical.
the end (not the filter) should be packed full of herb to the end, not twisted into a nipple, or for transport it should be folded over.

Maybe in the shitty part of canada...

the only thing that trully bugs me about with tobacco, is your suppose to hold your hoot in, hows that work out when you have tobacco smoke in there???? and when you cough isnt it a little more sour than sweet iv never in my life smoked weed with tobacco kinda interested but at the same time a bit leary , someone tell me its worth my time il go roll one up right meowww
Meh, if you have a whole spliff to yourself or just a couple of folks, hit it like a cig you really fucking need and you'll get nicely toasted by the end of it. I started just smoking mine like cigs, so I could smoke and walk around town as long as the foot traffic ain't to heavy.

Bold faced lies, sir!

^rolling your joints cylindrical ruins the taste in the last 1/3.

EDIT: Didn't have time explaining why.

Basicly the resin collects in the course of smoking the joint. Ofcourse it collects at the bottom making the last end taste like ass and making the hit alot harsher. Now if you roll conical less material is burned at the end of the joint, causing the joint to taste less like ass at the end. So the assy-ness of the resin and the reduced assy-ness of the cone balance each other it out making the end taste like mild ass...(the end always tastes a little bit like ass tho...can't do anything about that)

^Also, I think that tobacco in joints has several bonuses-

It complements the taste of herb (a matter of taste)
It enhances the effects (same as above)
It makes the joint burn better (spliffs rarely have runs and almost always burn perfectly evenly, like a blunt would)
It makes your weed go further, joints take less weed to roll if 20% of the joint is tobacco.

I don't care about filters in my joints, I've never known why they were better. I can roll much better without a roach then with one myself.

I don't know what he was talking about with the "don't twist the tip" thing, I see no reason why not to do that if the end is empty.

Rolling with Garcia y Vegas..need help please..first timer!!

hello all, i'm new to these Vegas site but i have been rolling blunts for almost 10 years now...the kinds i roll the most are the Swisher Sweets, whether they be original, grape, blueberry, etc...I also roll white owl's with ease but those cigarillos are the easiest ones to roll and i never have problems with..now i went to my local head shop and picked up two packages of "Garcia y Vega" cigars..each package has 5 cigars in it..one of the packages says "Garcia y Vega miniatures" and the other one says Garcia y Vega Cigarillos so i had a couple questions before i open these. first of all what is the difference between the regular garcia y vega cigarllos and the garcia y vega cigarillos? also about 95% of sites i see online, people are saying how tough they are to roll but if you roll them they last very long and are very good quality to roll your herb in..i would greatly appreciate it if anyone can explain the garcia y vegas to me, how they roll, and what makes them better than other cigars to roll herb with, also people say they are very hard to "break down" aka split open..any help is appreciated thanks guys
