i just finished watching season 1 and was really impressed. i have a lot of questions so i expect i'll read the books next, as i have no idea when season 2 is planned on hbo.

On the only episode I've seen on the show a guy sucked another guy's dick(seriously). WTF?

I loved the show so I gave the books a try. I'm half-way through book two right now and holy fuck they are fantastic. I stopped reading Fantasy series after I turned 13 (I used to love Robert Jordan, but his shit got stale after book 6 and I put it down, entered a Tom Clancy phase for a bit, and now I only read real literature, with a little Iain M. Banks sci-fi on the side) but holy fuck these are fantastic. Tyrion would be my favorite character if he wasn't a detestable Lannister (actually I like my Dany and Jon Snow more, but the little half-man is the shit). These books actually qualify as real reading, unlike most fantasy. I wouldn't recommend it to my children, especially if I had twins (wouldn't want them getting the wrong idea now ;) )

I wouldn't mind if my twins became royalty and pushed a kid out a window as much as I would be pissed about them fucking each other. You can't recommend incest and the rape of a 13 year old girl to your 10 year old kid. He can have all the regular violence and regular fucking he wants, but at a certain point it goes too far.

Jamie Lannister is a fabulous character, and so is Tyrion, and for that matter, so is Tywin. I think you'll come to recant that 'fuck all Lannisters' thing later.
 
There are so many loose ends, but I was actually talking about GoT yesterday. To me, all I need to know is:

(spoilers all the way through book five, i think, they are all just questions, no deaths or anything are revealed)

Is Tyrion the third head of the Targaryen dragon? What was Brienne's word? Is Jon Snow The Prince That Shall Be Promised? Is Cersei executed like a Lannister or does she rot in hell? Who does Varys want on the Throne?


you could answer all those questions in one Tyrion chapter and we'd be good to go.

to answer your question, EW, no. I doubt the person they got to be Theon will make it far enough. I think he'll be recast, honestly. Assuming HBO wants to go all out and film every single one of these books. I could do with 7 seasons of Throne Game.

Presumably, since "valonqar" means "younger sibling", Tyrion, or more likely, Jamie (he's technically younger, being born second) will kill her.

But only after she sees her children crowned, then have [death?] shrouds.

Two children have been crowned. The third will probably be crowned by Dorne, IMO. I'm not sure about he shrouds though. After all, prophecy has mislead on death before, and this one is intentionally vague. So far, one child has died.

I'm guessing Dany is the younger and more beautiful that will cast her down, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it was something else (a child of the forest, perhaps?)
 
Here's an interesting prophecy:

Tyrion is obvious: "A small man with a big shadow".

The dragons though. Assuming they are Targaryens...

"true and false" hints at either a false Targaryen (Aegon being fake), or a Targaryen betrayal.

"light and dark" hints at Targaryens being on different sides.

But the weirdest: "young and old". All the dragons are young. Dany, Aegon, the R+L=J theory, and the three actual dragons. The only old dragon is dead - Aemon. Except one: Bloodraven.

So, anyone want to predict this prophecy?

Presumably, he's the fake one. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it's too obvious, so Martin has someone else be fake.
 
Yea my dad seems to love this show. I have watched it a few times and I think it is a great show.

I like the fact that Boromir from LOTR is in it.

then who the fuck else? rumors fly that Tyrion is the third head of the dragon and not a real Lannister, OR that he's the only REAL Lannister and Jamie/Cersei are bastard Targs. I want to see what happens with Oberon's Sand Snakes. I liked The Red Viper, and thought it was fucked that that Mountain killed him. Is there some other rumor about who the fake Targ is from those crazy westeros boards, EW? Viserys, Dany and old blind Aegon(??) on The Wall who Jon sends away. I don't see that many options for rouge Targs running around. I'm frustrated with the Targ storyline as it is, I've become more interested in the Greyjoy one as of late. Here's to hoping you are right and there is some crazy twist that's gonna come out of all that crap. Dany is disappointing me lately :(
 
Here's a crazy twist.

In the book Game of Thrones, when Robert and Ned are talking about Robert's kingdom, Robert tells Ned something like how Ned should have been king, and Ned's response is that Robert had the better claim.

Er??? What was Ned's claim to the throne?

As for fake Targs...

Targs who have legitimate Targ bloodlines (aka, Aegon, if he's real, some of the R+L=J theories as well) aren't fake, but only the Blackfyre male line is said to have died out (is Aegon a Blackfyre?), or perhaps a real Targ whose actions are fake?
