Benzos Valium withdrawal

I just think you're playing a very dangerous game for no real reason. There is nothing wrong with benzodiazepines. Most people don't have horrible withdrawal, most people have mild withdrawal, if any. And when I say most, I'm talking 95 to 99%.

Your probably right,

my benzos weren’t prescribed
i see my doctor 1/3 I’ll see how I am doing, and possibly talk to him.

i have a buddy, my source , been on valium for a decade? He ain’t never going off of them. He also is on suboxone.
I laugh, cause he takes 2 of the most addictive drugs legally, and he is somewhat normal, cant work, no social skills, ect. but doesn’t do dope or drink.

here I am making excuses, to keep drinking, telling myself I am better off than him, but am I?

question: I took 3mg Xanax in three weeks. During these three weeks, I also took 60 mg valium, and drank every day.
Would the xXanax leave my system first, and than just have the Valium in my system? Or does it not work that way

also, since alcohol plays on the same GABA-a receptors does that just delay the benzos leaving my system?
i was Going off of the half life’s of the two benzos.

The Xanax would definitely be out of your system.

Are you saying that you only took 60 mg of Valium and 3 mg of Xanax total for 3 weeks?

If that's the case, you have no benzodiazepine withdrawal, That's literally 3 mg a day of Valium which is a joke and isn't going to cause you to be having withdrawal.

And 3 mg of Xanax is a good dose to help you with alcohol withdrawal for one day.

well, a little more. I was given and took 4.5 mg xanax, total from 11/28– 12/26. I know, remember, some of the days I took the Xanax.
they were .25mgs and I never abused them or the Valium. Over the same period I took 100 mg valium and abused alcohol every night (12 pack Guinness stout)

days I know I did and did not take Xanax
12/16 .5mg Xanax —- 5mg valium —- alcohol
12/17, 18 No benzos—— alcohol
12/19 5mg valium—— alcohol
12/20 no benzo——- alcohol
12/21 5 mg valium—— alcohol
12/22 .5mg Xanax —-5mg Valium —- alcohol
12/23. No benzo—- alcohol
12/24 .25mg Xanax—- 7.5 mg valium ——- no alcohol
12/25 10 mg Valium ———- no alcohol
12/26 .25 mg Xanax last day of any benzo usage. 7.5 mg valium ——— no alcohol
12/27- 12/31 ——— no benzo
( 12/30– 12 pack beer.)

45 mg valium and 1.5 mg Xanax from 12/16 - 12/31——- 16 days total , this included my withdrawal from alcohol weekend. 12/24-12/26

so, 55 mg Valium and 3 mg Xanax from 11/28– 12/15— 18 days

before 11/28 I did not take any benzo for 19 days. 55 mg valium ( alcohol withdrawal) in 4-5 days in early November. Same thing in October, 50 mg , 5-6 days( alcohol withdrawal)

I am a alcoholic, who got caught up in December taking a Valium or Xanax before work and than drinking afterwards.

before that I only used valium 4-5 days , 40-55 mg total, a month for my alcohol withdrawal.
I use the benzo, then stay off the sauce for 5, 7 sometimes 14 days than start drinking and repeat with the 50 mg Valium over 4-5 days. I been on that monthly cycle since June.

june- November 40- 50 mg valium a month, 4 days a month so 4 days on, 26 off, there abouts
december. 100 mg valium and 4.5 mg Xanax total, but used almost every day

Yeah, you're not withdrawing from benzodiazepines you're in alcohol withdrawal.

Yeah, you're not withdrawing from benzodiazepines you're in alcohol withdrawal.
If I could get on a low dose benzo, valium 2mg, as needed maybe 2x a day 4x a week I would stop drinking.
I enjoy what a benzo provides me socially, its better than drinking

Yeah, you're not withdrawing from benzodiazepines you're in alcohol withdrawal.
So my benzo use, isn’t something to worry about? Cause I am starting day six withdrawal them, and I know those horrible withdrawals kick in later

You haven't taken enough benzos to have withdrawal, especially with your alcohol abuse.

If you have any withdrawal is going to be because you stop drinking.

Go to your doctor on Monday or Tuesday, get a good prescription for benzos or go in the hospital and get detoxed.

update-
I went 21 days since my last Valium, I was put on 25 mg naltrexone last Monday for AUD. That drug fucked me up! I took it for two days, had such horrible side effects, I stopped. I took 7mg of Valium over two days, and have tapered my alcohol to 6 beers, 4 beers and 2 beers this last week to today. I have had minor withdrawal, and am either gonna jump or stay at 2-3 beers for another week until that Valium is out of my system.

I realized I was still having benzo withdrawal, it sounds crazy, but after reading the Ashton manual and peoples experiences on BenzoBuddies and elsewhere, I had a lot of tho symptoms. Originally I thought they were unrelated To my benzo and alcohol use.

this zap that went into my left chest, shoulder area, I thought was a cardiovascular issue, it wasn’t. My BP, heart rate, stress tests, ekg, other tests came out perfect.
my dizziness I thought was a BP med issue, it’s not! with less drinking, I barely take BP meds.

I was caught up in Valium withdrawal for months now. Now that I know how horrible Valium is, I am going to Stop using.
I also feel good where I am with my alcohol use right now.

Dude, you're not having benzo withdrawal.

You literally took 40 to 50 mg for a whole entire month. Not per day just over the entire month. That's not even 2 mg a day and you didn't even take it every day. You only took it for 4 days. 26 days you didn't. You don't get benzodiazepine addiction or withdrawal from that kind of dosing. It's in your head.

You're having alcohol withdrawal.

Even tapering alcohol down you're going to suffer exactly the symptoms that you are suffering, from alcohol withdrawal.

I've been where you're at. You are in a dangerous place with respect to alcohol withdrawal. The zaps, the pains, everything you're describing is alcohol withdrawal.

The little bit of benzos that you're taking is helping with your alcohol withdrawal. You're drinking is not helping with your benzo withdrawal.

7 mg over 2 days of Valium is barely enough to register any effects. 2 mg is the threshold dose for there to be any effects.

I'm telling you that you are not in benzo withdrawal. You didn't take enough benzos to get into benzo withdrawal.

I am not saying full blown withdrawal but I do have protracted symptoms from taking valium for at least 6 months, 50 mg spread over 4-5 days every month, than December was 5 mg average everyday.

48 hour half life/ 200 hour half life on valium! That’s crazy shit!

these are side effects I NEVER had with alcohol withdrawal. My brain feels dull at times, I forget often, vertigo like issues, headaches!, I never had headaches before in my life, the zapping, tinnitus, insomnia and rebound anxiety. Yes, the last three overlap with MY alcohol withdrawal in the past And I am not downplaying my AUD. it does have something to do with my problems.

I know my AUD is serious, i was just mentioning, like many others have told me, that mixing alcohol withdrawal and benzodiazepin withdrawal is serious business. I am dealing with shit I never went through with straight alcohol. I used and relied on benzos for a crutch to my alcoholism for too long!

i used Ativan last January- March as a crutch for my drinking as well. Than Valium June- Present.
.

valium is such a cleaner drug than alcohol, it doesn’t fuck with every aspect of your body, organs, heart, etc but it does , in my opinion, mess with your brain a hell of a lot more. The withdrawal is long and dragged out and it’s just a horrible little pill.

on a side note— I feel good, there isn’t any MAJOR issue going on, both my “ withdrawals” are chugging along, and I am motivated to be free of both these drugs, we can debate which one is worse for u and withdrawal wise, I know where I stand.

I appreciate all your advice, I know you been through the same shit, I respect that and look forward to yours and others responses on my issues

And I'm still trying to tell you that you're not having benzo withdrawal. You're having alcohol withdrawal.

Those are insignificant amounts of Valium the way you spread them out.

But the amount of alcohol that you were drinking was ridiculously high, and you've dropped a significant number of drinks.

Tan Definitely taper Valium and alcohol the best that you can, especially if you're trying to cut down/quit them at once.

Withdrawing from things that work on GABA receptors (booze, benzos, phenibut, etc.) is even more dangerous than kicking something like heroin or crack.

It seems like you have a pretty good plan in place, so just stick to it and I'm sure that you'll be fine.
Thanks
It’s going good.
I cut the valium out at the end of December (26th) but did take a low dose last week. (7mg)
I also have been reducing the booze from a 12 pack nightly to no more than 6 a night, Thats been a 8 day reduction and half of those days less than six Beers

my plan is to not drink heavily, get this Valium out of my system, and let those horrible side effects subside. I than will focus on reducing the beer even more.
I was told if you never drink more than 4 12oz beers a night, it’s hard to get withdrawal, or if you take days off between drinking the same can be said. I would love to get to that point, rewire my brain, be able to have a few, be normal again. Or maybe I can’t and abstinence is my only solution. I Just know, I will never take benzos for more than a few days in a year ever again!

You keep wanting to make it about benzos when it's all about the alcohol brother.

Keep trying to deflect the fact that you have a major alcohol issue and see where it takes you. Dropping from a 12 pack to a six pack in eight days is insane.

I am not deflecting — nobody knows my situation better than myself. I know what’s at stake, and the toll alcohol has and does play on me physically. Tapering down the alcohol, or a reduction, is a huge plus for me, will it last, we will see. Removing valium from my system is another plus. why abuse / use two drugs when I don’t need to. I could understand if I was just gonna use a benzo and no alcohol but as of this last year, all I did was add a benzo “addiction” to a bad AUD.

I been through intermediate alcohol withdrawal hundreds of times. It’s 4-5 days, without using benzos, of pretty severe side effects. Some are the same as benzo withdrawal but than again it’s completely different!
what I am experiencing or did experience was nothing I have ever been through With past alcohol withdrawal. it all came together once I started reading about Valium withdrawal symptoms, half-lifes and protracted symptoms. I knew right away, I was suffering from more than just alcohol withdrawal. It just took me a year to figure that out.

nothing but respect
I love reading and hearing about people’s own struggles and how they overcame them, adapted or are still fighting to live the life they want
