The Big & Bearded Post Rock thread v. Relate & Recommend bands

BUMP

Hrsta's "Stem Stem in Electro" is worth checking out if you are a fan of Godspeed or anyone else on the Constellation label:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7j_4fXERpQ

Speaking of post-rock labels, Temporary Residence Limited has a few good ones like Maserati:

For all the Godspeed fans out there, check out Set Fires to Flames which is one of their side projects:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tzPciFJdFA

Their drummer Aidan Girt has a few side projects of his own including Exhaust:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqukojYRJ0A Which is not technically post-rock in the classical sense, but they are on Constellation and have members from Godspeed. Aidan Girt also has a solo project called 1-Speed Bike which is dope for anyone who likes funky beats, but there isn't anything good on YouTube of his, might have to upload some myself.

Finally, someone mentioned Japanese post-rock so here is Mono, they are also on Temporary Residence Limited:

Okay, that's all for now. I hope someone out there in cyberspace checks a few of these artists out and enjoys their music as much as I do.

Nice post Max. Anything by Hrsta is great. I sure wish they would drop something new.

1-speed Bike is great. Such hipster titles to the songs.

I'm going to go with My Bloody Valentine. I don't even think most people in my generation knew about them until the movie "Lost in Translation" came out. I blame my upbringing for knowing it before that.

Their two best albums are:
*Isn't Anything
*Loveless

-XTC & Wine sounds too purposely overdone 60s imo (most of it).

I can't remember if fago.sepia were mentioned (or Russian Circles)
I know nobody mentioned "Strangers Die Every Day", "Enemies" or "Beast, Please Be Still"
"Pretend" are sort of mathy post-rock, as are "Keiko Tsuda" (although these guys are more mathy than pretend imo)
I've got nothing more to add, unless this turns into a math-rock and post-hardcore discussion. Check out "Red In Tooth & Claw" by "BATS" though, fucking awesome album.

Yndi halda

...long ass name only remember this...Silver mt zion....

Red sparowes

Mooncake

Amesoeurs (black metal shoegaze-ish)

Not near my computer so ill add a lot more later, with links :D

^ haha " A Silver Mt. Zion" is the easiest way to find most of their material usually. Although album by album they change the name a bit depending on the circumstances.

Just went through previous pages and almost all the ones I mentioned have already been mentioned, shit lol.

Giraffes? Giraffes! Are pretty dope

The American Dollar, yess fuck yes!
http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=/&gl=US#/watch?v=P3U8rESlMrc Shorter peice but I jizzed on the climax

Cougar- stay famous
Albums good

Piano magic

Seriously aha, the album with '....broken chords...' Is among my favorite albums of the genre, its their first if I'm not mistaken

Yes G?G! are awesome. I love the drumming on the second track on More Skin With Milk-Mouth (although they've already been mentioned I'll let it slide ;))
And if we're gonna start including post-metal then Isis, Neurosis, Callisto, Rosetta, Long Distance Calling, Jakob, Mouth of the Architecht, Pelican, Shape of Despair, Cult of Luna, Burst, etc
But hey, this is about post-rock right?

everyone should witness a silver mt. zion live at least once in their life. i remember getting goosebumps during 'god bless our dead marines' and 'teddy roosevelt's guns' and that's something that very rarely happens.
also i don't know if it qualifies as post-rock, but deep politics by the grails is an amazing album.

I'll have to bust out the ol' Casio, but I'll give it my best shot.

Ha! You might just be gettin your strong on before it's all over then

here a few more albums i'm extremely fond of:
dead fawn - session iii
a whisper in the noise - dry land
russian circles - empross
black math horseman - self-titled
crippled black phoenix - i, vigilante
jesu - silver ep
this will destroy you - tunnel blanket
mono - one more step and you die
