neurontin ?

I used to have a script for it for insomnia/anxiety. All I ever got from it was a wierd feeling, moderate sleep aid, and a wierd 'electrified' feeling in my legs. As far as I can tell it has no real recreational value.
 
I actually somewhat enjoy gabapentin as a drug taken in doses 900mg and higher. It's not great, but you will become off balanced with some okay mental effects similar to almost say, a weak ambien or benzo and possibly DXM. The first two would make sense I believe as neurontin acts on the GABA receptors similarly to benzos and sleep aids like ambien. Its nothing wonderful and it takes a while to fully kick in. I would recommend eating before taking it as eating increases the bioavailability. My 2 cents


edit: oh and I always thought it was placebo before I decided to try it for fun. Its definately not placebo.
 
anybody ever inject neurontin? feels nice this cold instant watery sensation , no real euphoria but nice with bupe and an anihistamine i stopped though because its very bad fo hte veins lots of fillers in those capsules
 
I take 600mg's of neurontin everyday for nerve pain and i must say it works pretty good for that purpose even though that's a really low dose. Im gonna get the dose upped soon.

When i first started taking it i did feel recreational effect's from it. Very benzo like only more sedating. I used to take it after taking morphine and it would boost the effect's of the morphine quite abit. Morphine also increases the bioavailability of neurontin.

But unfortunately the recreational effect's went away pretty goddamn quick. I dont feel anything from it now really. But it does still go nicely with benzos and opiates. Just make sure that you take it after you take your opiates because neurontin decreases the bioavailability of some opiates if you take it before hand.
 
Try whippets (or nangs or whatever you aussies call them) while on a good sized dose of neurontin. It makes them last about 5x longer. Fun.
 
okkk yeah so, you say you take 900 mg? and this 900 mg puts some of your friends into a drunken stupor? well, thats odd. my friend basically has an unlimited supply of the stuff. 600 mg a pill. once in a while we take it. but we dont take a measly 900 mg. we take like 5-8 pills. and we're barely stoned at all. the first time i did it, it felt like i smoked a quarter of a bowl. LAME. not as great as you try and make it out.
 
It worked great for me. The only draw back was that I started to get very bad headaches and had to stop taking it. Also, when I started on them. My doc started me on a low dose and gradually went up till I hit 600mg 2x a day. It worked great for the pain but the side effects were too much.
 
ok here is a good opinion and non-biased report on neurontin

ok im an opiate addict and have used benzos extensively in the past but not recently so tolerance to that or alcohol is at a minimum....even my opiate tolerance is quite low at the moment.

anyways i have a ton of these 400mg brand name neurontins and was really bored when i read this thread so i decided to try them....read many conflicting reports about effects AND doses but i decided that 800mg would not be too much and is better to start low since i read about people have insomnia and other fucked up shit on high doses which is the opposite of what i wanted i need sleep!!

so i popped the 800mg an hour ago and im starting to feel it....relaxed no euphoria but i feel very much like i took 0.5mg or 1mg of xanax at times...kinda comes in waves!

so ill post back later after more time has passed and let yall know since i wouldnt bullshit about this stuff...im pretty pessimistic too so i dont let placebo effect me.

p.s. recent ingested drugs- none within the last 24 hours but the day before i did take 45mg of oxy with no effects since my tolerance was too high.
 
anyone know if marijuana has any effect on gabapentin? I was prescribed it and have a fair bit lying around as a casualty in a failing war against insomnia. Anyway, I also have a fair bit of bud, if I try the two out I'll post with any results.
 
I got prescribed this by my specialist and all it did was send me to the ER with some nasty ass reactions.
 
ok it felt decent at first yesterday but within 2 hours there was no effects except some minor anti-anxiety feelings....also by hour 4 or so i was kinda paranoid which is really wierd.

so i may try 1200mg next time but i dunno if i get paranoid again im definately gettin rid of the shit....

Neurontin does wonders for my anxiety. I am on a pretty high dose though, 800 mg 4 times daily (3200 mg daily). I'm gonna try to get my doc to prescribe me Lyrica since it's supposedly stronger.

If ya dont mind could possibly indulge on what those side effects were and your dosage .. my docs given it to me for nerve pain as well .
 
Gabapentin's not bad at all as long as you can get some from your grandmother for free. ^_^

Some subtle relaxing effects at 900mg. Double that, and it's pretty nice. I get kind of zoned out with a pleasant body buzz. Good for anxiety, but sub-par for a benzo eater like myself. It does somewhat ward off back pain when I have it. Nowhere near as addictive as benzos, but I have nonetheless heard of people getting quite addicted to GP. One thing about gabapentin is that it is very, very difficult to OD on by itself (the LD50 I can't quite recall but it is ridiculously high) but do your research before you go making cocktails of the stuff.

As a matter of fact, I have felt that weird gabapentin edginess at times too. But with no predictable pattern, I have eaten it in various dosages at least 20 times.

Yes, Gabapentin does have a very high LD50.
A lethal dose of gabapentin was not identified in mice and rats receiving single oral doses as high as 8000 mg/kg. Signs of acute toxicity in animals included ataxia, labored breathing, ptosis, sedation, hypoactivity, or excitation.

Acute oral overdoses of Neurontin up to 49 grams have been reported. In these cases, double vision, slurred speech, drowsiness, lethargy and diarrhea were observed. All patients recovered with supportive care.

Gabapentin can be removed by hemodialysis. Although hemodialysis has not been performed in the few overdose cases reported, it may be indicated by the patient's clinical state or in patients with significant renal impairment.

Also, an important thing to remember when using Gabapentin recreationally is to space out the doses. The higher the dose goes, the less gets absorbed into the body. Also, take it with food since this will increase bioavailability by 14%.

I was browsing Pubmed and came across an abstract about a sustained-release Gabapentin. This would definitely increase bioavailabilty so I would be quite willing to give it a try if it ever came out.
Depomed is developing an extended-release (ER) oral formulation of gabapentin, a GABA receptor agonist commonly used for the treatment of epilepsy and seizures, neuropathic pain and hot flushes. Gabapentin ER is based on the company's proprietary AcuForm drug delivery technology, which is part of the Gastric Retention (GR) family of technologies; this offers improved drug absorption and bioavailability compared with the existing immediate-release formulation of gabapentin (Neurontin), making gabapentin ER suitable for twice-daily dosing.

Interesting you say that. Whenever my brother decides to take some of my gabapentin he always gets an "edge". He also says it makes him crave nicotine much more than usual. Interesting drug it is!

yeah, the edge is there, and it says "take more gabapentin". So I do and then it's fuzzier. But still, I get this general "this is no opiate or benzo" malaise... but some people really, REALLY like it. If it's all I have I'll surely eat a generous quantity.
 
I really love the stuff.

When I first got it, I expected a mild valium sort-o effect. Result: not a mild valium like effect.

At moderate doses it's as if I'm on speed. I chat non-stop, end up super, incredibly euphoric and relaxed at the same time- but compelled to yap the entire time.

At high doses I lose the euphoria and have less of the chattyness. I end up incredibly drunk feeling and don't really enjoy it that high.

A medium dose with a little wobblyness is perfect for doing anything except math.
