[Mega] Picture Thread ver. We Got Trees To Bring You To Yo' Knees

It is ok, got a little bit sun burnt over Feb and March we had a few weeks of +40C weather and I'm guessing the other yellowing of the leaves is from under fertilizing. As for the weed on the street in Au. Mostly indoor indicas and hybrids then in Autumn you get a flush of outdoor bush grown stuff which tends to look very similar to what we've grown in those pics. From what I've heard most of the older more traditional growers were getting stuff from Thailand and Southern Asia so I'm guessing thats where the genetics come from although I have heard of people getting seeds from as far off as Africa, the Middle east and Europe. Usually the bag seed you get grows pretty vigorously because it has acclimatized to the hot conditions. These days I have met indoor growers who are growing strains from Cali, Netherlands and even New Zealand.

The finished product. It needs some manicuring and probably could have been left for a week or so more but as is that's about 5g

Nah didnt bother with a cutting plenty more seeds where that came from. The high is pretty mellow but definitely "up". Perhaps if we'd left it a bit longer we would have got a bit more thc out of it but it's strong enough for me. I don't really love strongly psychadelic sativas. I am actually preferring smoking the power plant (indica pheno) that I grew last year, although its a bit stronger it seems to have more of a relaxing effect. That one I should have cloned... oh well live and learn. I tried to get it to seed using frozen pollen but had no luck.

You know I was going to say it looks pretty similar to some of the landrace strains I've seen from India.

As for the pollen, did you dessicate it first? Usually you need to dry it out thoroughly using something like silica dessicant. A really reliable way to store it is to get a plastic drinking straw sealed one end with a flame, fill with pollen mixed 1:10 with flour and then plugged with cotton wool in the other end and store in a jar with silica dessicant in a small container with holes in it so the moisture can get in. Once it's dried you then can store it in the freezer without worrying about the cells being ruptured by ice crystals. You can also store seeds this way for decades.

Anyway I wish I lived in a climate where I could grow sats. That would be a dream come true for me.

Nah didnt desicate it just let it dry for a few days and just chucked it in a film cannister. Obviously this is not the way to go. I will try it your way if I find myself needing to do it in future.

Yeah no idea what kind of strain it is. I don't even know the dealer to ask them to ask the grower. Just some friends scored some weed that had a few seeds in it and they said they really liked it so I thought I would give it a go. I did find one male flower on it so it has hermaphrodite tendencies, this didn't cause any problem as none of the bud is seeded and it got to an advanced enough level of flowering to harvest. Perhaps if I had left it for longer it may have popped out a few more male flowers and developed seeds. I didn't want to lose what minimal bud there was so I plucked the flower before it opened and luckily didn't find another.

^ the reason I'm so skeptical is because there really is no other plant (apart from hemp) that looks so strikingly similar to cannabis. It's a no brainer to me.

If you can find one other plant that looks so similar you'll convince me, but there really isn't.
I don't mean to raise an old arguement, but I can answer this question.

Cannabis Sativa is not the only plant with serrated leaves. -____-

edit: as a matter a fact, I got one of these pictures off that other forum you posted Neko's plant in, they have a whole thread about plants that look like cannabis but are not. It's called "list-plants-look-like-marijuana", I don't know the policy on linking directly to other forums so you'll have to search for it.

^ I still haven't seen any that look as close to cannabis as neko's photo. Apart neko here I've had about 20 growers say that the cannabis plant in nekos pic is in fact cannabis and none say otherwise which just confirms what I thought, but you can only argue a point so much before it becomes pointless and you have to just agree to disagree.

None of the plants in those photos have leaves that are serrated, compound palmate leaves and alternating phyllotaxy, all of which are hallmarks of cannabis (especially all when all traits are present at the same time). In fact there are too many traits of that plant unique to cannabis for it to be anything else, especially when you consider the morphology of the plant. Anyone who's been growing for years and has been around cannabis day in and day out will tell you it's cannabis which makes me very surprised that neko would say otherwise (no offence intended) and is why I wondered whether it might have been a joke. I think the strange growth pattern described as the plant aged was probably due to a mutation or some other explanation, but the fact remains that in my honest opinion it is cannabis (or is at least from the species cannabis sativa L.).

And just to be clear, it's not only the fact the leaflets are serrated that gives it away. Like I said, if anyone can show me a plant that is as convincing as the one in the photo, I'll believe it. None of those plants are and there aren't any others I have seen, ever.

I would like to believe there are plants that close in appearance to cannabis but I'm not aware of any. If there were it would be very useful.

edit: fair enough if you're not trying to raise the whole question of whether it's cannabis or not and are just wanting to post cannabis lookalikes. Sorry if i misinterpreted. I don't mean to cause an argument I'm just expressing my views. The plant is dead anyway so I guess that's that.

Nice! Can't wait to taste that Black Jack myself, i'll probably yield about an ounce. How many weeks in flowering are yours?

Also, do you mind emptying your inbox please? :)

That was 6 weeks when I took that pic. Unfortunately it started to succumb to botrytis (grey mould) though.

Sorry I had emptied my inbox but not my sent messages folder. It's cleared now.

This whole is it cannabis debate was interesting to me, and so I did some of my own research and wanted to post back.

Those plants are looking sexy.

I see. I've just been trying to find something a bit closer to cannabis and the best I could find where pics like this:

Talking of plants that look like cannabis, I actually just recently on another forum (Mr Nice forums) saw a photo of a Jamaican lambsbread plant that really genuinely didn't look anything like a cannabis plant. In fact some people actually said at first they didn't believe it was cannabis! I don't know if you've heard of ducksfoot cannabis, but it's a leaf mutation that's been passed down from cannabis generation to generation and preserved. Below are some pics of ducksfoot cannabis. Crazy isn't it?

^ Do you find the Black Jack are smelling like bubblegum? If that's the strain you were talking about, it's exactly the scent I was thinking about but couldn't put my finger on it. It smells so sweet and now that I have just sniffed it again, I definitely find it smells like a fruity bubblegum ! It will probably smell a bit different after being dried and cured.

Does it taste similar as well?

^ well if I actually compared to it to real bubblegum it doesn't smell like it but I know what you mean. It's a sweet pleasant sort of smell vaguely reminiscent of bubblegum but I don't know whether that's more my imagination or not. It definitely is pleasant though.

AE FTW!!!!....
Nothing new there though...
lol.

As for plants looking like weed, I've seen a few that at a glance, look very similar to marijuana, but , when looking closely, the differences become obvious. I'll have to find this photo you all speak of and have to judge it myself :/

But that first picture , with duckfoot, I could tell it was weed only because of how the plant was growing in the photo. Unlike the second photo, there's nothing but the leaf, and I would have quite a hard time saying what it was if I didn't already know.

That Ducksfoot is some weird looking shit. There's another type of mutant cannabis someone posted over in Aussie Drug Discussion which looks nothing like cannabis either. Both would be awesome for stealth.

AE you were asking about sativas in Australia so I thought I would post someone elses pic from Queensland. I wouldnt say this was your average outdoor grow down under but you can see what is possible. Credit to an ICM member for the pic. 2012 Outdoor Malawian Sativa Grow East Coast of Australia

^ absolutely stunning! I'm really interested in african strains. Ace do a malawi strain as do Seedsman, who's strain is bred from an almost mythical malawi gold parent iirc. If I were going to get a malawi strain World of Seeds would be the last breeder to buy it from. The pic for their supposed malawi strain looks more like a skunk strain than a malawi landrace.

Back in the day you used to be able to get malawi gold 'cobs' wrapped in bark (they were called this because they obviously looked somewhat like corn on the cob) which when smoked people say was very uplifting, energizing and psychedelic. Below is some malawi gold cob porn:
