Good Documentaries v. is that a doc?

'Citizenfour'

In January 2013, Laura Poitras started receiving anonymous encrypted e-mails from "CITIZENFOUR," who claimed to have evidence of illegal covert surveillance programs run by the NSA in collaboration with other intelligence agencies worldwide. Five months later, she and reporters Glenn Greenwald and Ewen MacAskill flew to Hong Kong for the first of many meetings with the man who turned out to be Edward Snowden. She brought her camera with her. The resulting film is history unfolding before our eyes.

Have you any idea where I can watch this? I've looked about and can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm starting to think the NSA is suppressing it somehow :sus:

Excellent, thanks Don!

Looks like a phenomenal website as well. I think I've found a new thing to be doing while I'm supposed to be working - if I lose my job in the next few weeks I'll be sure to let you know as you'd be 100% responsible =D

I delegate all blame to felix, as he showed me. I'm sure the blame chain goes further still. We'll see who he tars :)

Two things I've watched recently are Camp 14 and McConkey.

Camp 14 is about a guy who was born in a North Korean concentration camp. Obviously it is pretty brutal but a fascinating watch. Boggles the mind to think these things exist in this day and age. McConkey is great documentary about an extreme skier/base jumper/all round mentalist. Definitely worth a watch if that sort of thing floats your boat...

Camp 14 is pretty grim stuff. I bought the book a couple of years back when I was obsessed with NK. To some extent, I still am. There's just never enough info!

thinking of a change in life style maybe go ride a camel and kill religious scum just to prove the fact they cant even read their own holy books right and slaughter each other in the same gods name sounds like a plan :)

Haha. It sounds like that episode of 'Captain Planet' based in Belfast. For some reason, Belfast was a desert with Camels. The plot was that the Catholics and Protestants each had a nuclear bomb.

aw Bless you foolsgold. Sounds like you are still suffering. I genuinely hope you plough your way out of this mire of hatred.

The battle is not against flesh and blood.

If you like your nature programmes, I'd highly recommend watching Alaska - Earths Frozen Kingdom. Has a nice mix of nature & human element as well.

Also Bright Lights, Brilliant Minds: A Tale of Three Cities. The first episode is available until Friday. Quite a fascinating look at the history of the cultures in these cities during different times (Vienna 1908, Paris 1928 & New York 1951) & how they influenced the world at large. One snippet of particular interest was that Freud, Trotsky & Hitler all frequented the same café in Vienna in 1908!
