Luke 19:43

"For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side,"

Woe unto them I say.

"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." ---Ghandi

Truer words were never spoken.
That is because Christians were and still are "only human", whereas Christ is not.

Christians endeavor to walk in His steps, none are fully successful. That's why He became man, to redeem us.

Well, it's been my experience that very few so-called Christians understand this.
Yes, I've known a handful of true Christians and they are wonderful people. The other thousand or so I've encountered are fucking assholes.
YMMV

Too much greed and corruption for ideals to actually take any real form, IMO/E.
Hence the more things change the more they stay the same.
Human (some? ) are an "entitled" ass species if ya ask me.

I agree with you that that is exactly what's happening. I have experiences that are similar. I'll make no apologies for those who are Christian in name only. Further, I do not care what any other individual believes, that is their affair alone.

In fact it doesn't change the basic fact that they are not Christ only following Him, it is pretty much in line with what He said many times over.

I think that is kinda deep.
I mean they call on him everyday and go to church but maybe producing the wrong fruit or becoming weeds?
I get it, though. Dont use my name in a scam or there may be consequences (without prior knowledge of any hypothetical endeavor).
Just sayin' dont play the playa, right?
=D

From what I've observed it seems like many Christians fundamentally lack understanding of some of the basic moralistic teachings of the bible or what Jesus said.

14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me;
my justice was like a robe and a turban.
15 I was eyes to the blind
and feet to the lame.
16 I was a father to the needy,
and I searched out the cause of him whom I did not know.
17 I broke the fangs of the unrighteous
and made him drop his prey from his teeth.
18 Then I thought, ‘I shall die in my nest,
and I shall multiply my days as the sand,
19 my roots spread out to the waters,
with the dew all night on my branches,
20 my glory fresh with me,
and my bow ever new in my hand."

Job 29:14-20

Unlike Krishna and other spiritual stories I was always under the impression that Christ becoming human is what made his journey more important. Lived a human life complete with all it's temptations and sorrow. But on another level he did seemed advanced. Yet I have never heard anything more human than when Christ asked God to take this cup from him. Almost like please don't let me have to be nailed to a cross. But he knew he had too go through with it. Sort of like us and whatever lies before us. On Monday mornings I ask God please don't let me do another Monday. :) But I always have too. In ways we all get nailed to a cross daily. Seems to be the journey and the lesson is forgiving and letting go. Like Christ.

Hypocrisy is one of the biggest sins there is. I learned that through politics. It is the opposite of the Golden Rule.

I am an odd duck when it comes to the story of Jesus. For me I believe every bit of it happened. Not just a story or myth.

The Lord Answers Job

38

1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
2 “Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Dress for action[a] like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 On what were its bases sunk,
or who laid its cornerstone,
7 when the morning stars sang together
and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 “Or who shut in the sea with doors
when it burst out from the womb,
9 when I made clouds its garment
and thick darkness its swaddling band,
10 and prescribed limits for it
and set bars and doors,
11 and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,
and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?
12 “Have you commanded the morning since your days began,
and caused the dawn to know its place,
13 that it might take hold of the skirts of the earth,
and the wicked be shaken out of it?
14 It is changed like clay under the seal,
and its features stand out like a garment.
15 From the wicked their light is withheld,
and their uplifted arm is broken.
16 “Have you entered into the springs of the sea,
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you,
or have you seen the gates of deep darkness?
18 Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?
Declare, if you know all this.
19 “Where is the way to the dwelling of light,
and where is the place of darkness,
20 that you may take it to its territory
and that you may discern the paths to its home?
21 You know, for you were born then,
and the number of your days is great!
22 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow,
or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,
23 which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
for the day of battle and war?
24 What is the way to the place where the light is distributed,
or where the east wind is scattered upon the earth?
25 “Who has cleft a channel for the torrents of rain
and a way for the thunderbolt,
26 to bring rain on a land where no man is,
on the desert in which there is no man,
27 to satisfy the waste and desolate land,
and to make the ground sprout with grass?
28 “Has the rain a father,
or who has begotten the drops of dew?
29 From whose womb did the ice come forth,
and who has given birth to the frost of heaven?
30 The waters become hard like stone,
and the face of the deep is frozen.
31 “Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades
or loose the cords of Orion?
32 Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth[b] in their season,
or can you guide the Bear with its children?
33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens?
Can you establish their rule on the earth?
34 “Can you lift up your voice to the clouds,
that a flood of waters may cover you?
35 Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go
and say to you, ‘Here we are’?
36 Who has put wisdom in the inward parts[c]
or given understanding to the mind?[d]
37 Who can number the clouds by wisdom?
Or who can tilt the waterskins of the heavens,
38 when the dust runs into a mass
and the clods stick fast together?
39 “Can you hunt the prey for the lion,
or satisfy the appetite of the young lions,
40 when they crouch in their dens
or lie in wait in their thicket?
41 Who provides for the raven its prey,
when its young ones cry to God for help,
and wander about for lack of food?

The Book of Job is probably the oldest book in the Bible, evidence in the form of manuscripts and fragments predate the pentateuch or Torah

My last girlfriend was one of the few true Christians I've ever known. She was non-judgmental, she was a former crackwhore(her term, not mine), she was bisexual and felt no guilt about it, she knew I was an atheist and never ever tried to argue or convert me. She was 100% liberal on all social issues. An amazing and wonderful woman. Sadly, it's very rare.
I will always love that gal.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

Romans, 7, 14-15 :" We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do."

It is probably King David, but definitely from the book of Psalms:
Psalm 56:3

1 Be merciful to me, my God, for my enemies are in hot pursuit; all day long they press their attack.

2 My adversaries pursue me all day long; in their pride many are attacking me.

3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

4 In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

5 All day long they twist my words; all their schemes are for my ruin.

"Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else."
- 1 Thessalonians 5:15
