Hope to hear a trip report afterwards, there is not nearly enough trip reports on this amazing substance
Not enough material for a trip report, so I'll just post my quick thoughts from this weekend's experiment here.
Took 55mg. The comeup was a lot more difficult than I expected. I was jittery/cold/nauseous/uncomfortable for about 45 minutes of coming up (my comeups on all psychedelics can be uncomfortable to a certain extent, but this one was particularly bad / hard to ignore). I meditated for about 30 minutes of the comeup, hoping it would help, and it did, but only towards the end. If I was a more experienced meditator, I might have fared better, but as it is I was no match for the restlessness that came over me.
Once the trip settled in, there was no more discomfort. Despite wanting to test the erotic side of this drug, I knew that my wife would be busy the entire time cooking (for guests coming later), so I was on my own. Instead I listened to music, including a first listen of Belle & Sebastian's newest album,
Write About Love. True to promises, 2C-D is awesome with music. Sound felt distorted/wobbly, but in a way that exaggerated and enhanced the style. It felt like the music was "holographic" - existing in 3D space around me. I followed along with the written lyrics as I listened to the music, and interpretations of these songs brought the experience to another level. These songs are masterful and somehow manage to pack a ruthless commentary (ex. about certain lifestyles), into the most gentle and unassuming of packages. The contrast here reminded me of the method of psychedelic drugs themselves: the lessons are harsh, but the delivery is benevolent. Also, at least two of the songs on the album are downright hilarious; I almost started choking from laughter.
Visually, the drug was somewhat underwhelming. Unlike on other psychedelics, it seems that I wasn't intuitively attracted to the visuals, even though there was a significant (if hard to define) distortion everywhere. The OEVs seemed somewhat unique to me compared to other psychedelics. Rather than things multiplying at the macro level like usual, instead it seemed that materials exhibited this multiplicity at the micro-level. Many times I was caught looking at something and feeling that the material that comprised it was denser than normal - as if there were more atoms than usual packed into the same space. Looking at a glass gave me the feel that the glass was tense and might spontaneously crack.
The head-space was very psychedelic, but also seemed somewhat neutral. It reminded me more of 2c-e than of any other psychedelic I've done (but it's been about a year since I did 2c-e, so I could be off). As usual for me, weed was necessary to bring out the best of the experience.
Overall a great experience but I need to repeat it - I still don't think I got a full feel of the effects. I am tempted to try this one at a concert (as others have suggested) but am worried about the harsh comeup.
