☮ Social ☮ The Big & Dandy Movies for Tripping Thread

Yellow Submarine (if u watch it remember to turn it off before the cartoon ends but after the trippy bit so u dont get the beatles wanking all over it with their soppy bollocks PC ending)
The Fountain (First choice for a trip film tbf)
The Fall (a must, seriously watch this film!)
Apocalypse Now (saw it a coupla days ago on psilacetin, absolutley amazng)
The Matrix (kinda standard and generic but nice, use it as a comng down film id say)
The Darjeeling Limited (the sole reason i ended up in india on 2c-e!)
Avatar (absolutely beautiful!)
Spirited Away (i never watch anime sober, but because its cartoons its more accentuated with visuals ive noticed)
Donnie Darko (it'll make u think)
Then very simple films like billy madison or a comedy usually get me pretty happy
the final frontier i havnt crossed yet is horror, i went close enough to that with Fear and Loathing, kinda wanna try it again with a simpler compound like 2cc tho, get something like the ring going (any suggestions?

One movie comes to mind:

ERASERHEAD .... uhh yeah, the greatest film ever made; seriously, david lynch captured something in that movie that is nameless and timeless.

... although I've never watched it, or any other full movie while high on lsd. I really love being outside, sometimes I'll watch a little bit of something during or after the comedown tho. I watched a few episodes of 30 rock recently after peaking and coming down, and it was quite enjoyable; sitcoms in general seem to relax me, the characters are comforting and soothing, as is the plot. Wonder what that says about me...

Yeah I got a thing for tina fey:)

YES! This is just great... also fantastic tripping! That "Man of Constant Sorrow" song (a genuine very old bluegrass song) is just too great, is it not?

Just about anything Cohen brothers will be amazing on acid. How about "Adaptation", and oh yea one must not forget "Being John Malkovitch" which will utterly have your brain doing somersaults!

John Malkovitch & Adaptation would probably be pretty cool, but the music it what really puts O Brother over the top, IMO

I can't help thinking that watching tv while tripping is a waste of time. Maybe to help me get through a particularly uncomfortable coming up phase.

Anyway, my vote goes to microcosmos:

It's a french movie/documentary about bugs and insects doing their thing. There's no complicated story you would struggle to understand while under the influence of some psychedelic, just mesmerizing shots of the weird/insane world under the microscope. There's one segment where a caterpillers metamorphosis into a butterfly is documented. I watched that on 4g of p. azureszens. That scene haunted me yeas afterward.

I don't want to derail...but I'm in search of a particular movie.

It came up in a similar thread (which I can never find) and was mentioned with movies like holy mountain, baraka, and koyanisqatsi. A lot of people said it was perfect to watch on Ketamine because there were a lot of trap doors, and gravity changing hole type stuff. Someone posted a screenshot and it was a man who looked sort of like a goat with a lot of blood on him. Anyway, I've been dying to watch it on ket but can't figure out what it is.

Anyway, my suggestions for LSD would be something bright and colorful. Planet Earth on blu-ray after a long trip is incredible. I also really like kid's movies(3d animated ones), they have nice lessons and are really pretty. I would save the movies for coming down though, peaking you can lose interest a lot.

Altered States is a personal favorite of mine. Made in 1980, so it may be a bit harder to find..however, very well worth it. Depicts the exploits of a Harvard scientist while he fights to bridge the gap between his working life and his personal life, all the while being consumed by the compounding effects of his Ayahuasca experience(s). Never watched it tripping, however I should!

Cat Soup
Mind Game
Noiseman Sound Insect

Gurren Lagann The Movie: Childhood's End & The Lights in the Sky are Stars
Dead Leaves

I find that most movies that are directed towards children are enjoyable to watch while on LSD. Such as disney movies, as due to how LSD can sometimes affect emotion I find that these kinds of movies allow you to get absorbed and attached in tense parts but enjoy the film and have a positive mindset after.

Yellow Submarine has treated me very well. Parts like the song "It's All Too Much" are just glorious. I wish I had the Grateful Dead DVD, I've seen it years ago and would love to watch it tripping/on the comedown. Coraline and Fern Gully have also been good ones.

family guy would be pretty cool to watch. or perhaps donnie darko

The movie Four rooms, its got a scene from tarintino in it that is classic. Totally wacky laugh your ass of scenes, and really funny shit to trip to. HIGHly reccomended :)

probably already said but donny darko

i really liked watching the underworld series when i was tripping. that vampire viktor that was resurected looked so gross and disgusting when i was fucked up on 2ct2 one time and then mushrooms another time that it made me laugh my ass off both times and kate beckinsale looked so hot drooool.

freddy krueger might be good too. i watched fredy krueger on some ecstacy of all drugs and it really tripped me out. i was feeling good but something about the movie was real creepy on E at the same time. where id watch it sober and it would be kinda campy

honestly though just pick any trippy, funny, scary or w/e movie you might like tripping and watch it and it'll probably be a good time

theres at least 20 movies ive already seen that id love to watch while tripping

i really wanna do acid or 2ce and watch that movie Devil thats coming out.

I've got three movis from netflix to watch while tripping hopefully this weekend...I think I will start to watch them, in this order, starting somewhere shortly before the effects start to reach for the peak.

1. ODDSAC by Animal Collective and Danny Perez
2. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus by Terry Gilliam
3. Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch

I dunno if I will actually have it in me to watch 3 movies in a row, but if I do, then that's the plan. Probably I will watch ODDSAC and feel blown out and have to lie on the floor in silence listening to the peaceful incidental sounds of the night for several hours lol. If that happens then I just have to trip again until I have them all watched :)
