The reason that progress has been made so fast is because so many people were working in tandem. I work in biomedical sciences and a lot of lab based people have been seconded tot covid stuff. Fuck entire cancer research labs have been repurposed. We've never had a situation like it, the majority of (at least here in uk) biomedical researchers working on the same problem, its logical that progress is swift.

I agree we wont know about the long term impact but diz has addressed that already.

Exactly, even my lab has taken on covid vaccine testing. There’s no wonder it’s progressed as fast. We are in a different world and the tech is there.

Like chin up said, in the UK and Ireland there are joint efforts in most labs in regards to covid vaccine and testing. I actually don’t think I know of a lab that’s not involved in some way. That’s why it’s progressed so much.

Think about, how were we able to make a vaccine for a novel virus within few weeks after it was first discovered. That’s just not how vaccines are created, ever!

I have read studies into it and there are cases of organ failure and long term lung issues.

I will be taking a vaccine for sure.
