2014-2015 College Basketball thread v. the somethin somethin invitational

any SEC team? please. besides Kentucky the SEC is not scary at all. especially this year when Florida is meh

if KY played in literally any other Power 5 conference this year; their scheddy would be tougher. you wouldn't be so pumped about beating Arkansas as you just were

As in, any SEC team that will be in the tournament. Florida not being one. Did you watch the uk georgia game last night? Any big 12 or acc team would've struggled just as much as we did in that game. If you cant see that you cant see much at all.

Im just saying, if an upper tier team gets matched up with a team like LSU or Georgia and they underestimate them...look out. The SEC is clearly not as talented as the ACC or Big 12, but if a game turns into a dog fight, I'm taking the scrappy sec team any day.

Guess we will just have to wait and see , huh?

Edit: i was pumped when we beat arkansas because they beat us twice last year and have been talking shit ever since. Had nothing to do with anything else.

teams I'm confident in: Gonzaga (for once), Kentucky (duh), Duke, Villanova, Wisconsin, Oregon, Maryland

teams im not confident in: Utah, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Arkansas, Wichita St, Northern Iowa

teams im on the fence about: Virginia, Arizona, Kansas

teams to look out for if they get in: Syracuse, Texas, pretty much any team in the Big 12 actually

^ syracuse is not getting in. They self imposed a tournament ban based on the ncaas investigation. Other than that i pretty much agree with you. I might switch duke and arizona though.

Villanova, Virginia, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa, Witchita St., and Arizona are the only teams I think have a chance at beating Kentucky

I would like to Frank Kamisky win it all

that sucks about syracuse, cant remember a time when they werent in the tournament

Gonzaga is legitimate this year, after years of being over-hyped I think they make the final four

idk its hard to draw conclusions until the bracket comes out

what are you guys thinking about saturdays games? lots of good games on and im thinking about placing some bets but would like to hear what you guys think.

LSU +6½ at Arkansas (anyone think LSU has a good shot at the upset? i heard this game means much more to them than it does to Arkansas, but idk if that should carry too much weight. LSU's road record seems pretty good and most their losses are very close ones. arkansas only has 1 loss at home to ole miss though)

Virginia at Louisville +2.5 (another game much more important to louisville though they have been looking pretty bad lately. dat home underdog tho)

Iowa State -3 at TCU (Iowa State has sucked on the road but TCU's conference record is pretty pathetic. and cyclones coming off big win)

Duke +1½ at North Carolina (big rivalry game so probably should avoid but duke as underdog seems tempting. and didnt Okafor miss some time in their last meeting twisting his ankle?)

Michigan State at Indiana even (indiana's lost their past two home games and pretty much live and die by the three from what ive watched and have no big men. havent watched michigan state though)

idk what im gonna do, if anything.

Your best bet is definitely LSU upsetting Arkansas. I know they are 2nd in the SEC, but like you said LSU needs this more and they are going to come in there thirsting for blood. The way they played against Kentucky (albeit they were at home) was impressive. They are very athletic and have the potential to wear Arkansas down.

I'd go with Virginia over Louisville, but its going to be a close one. Virginia is obviously the superior team, but Louisvilles hurting pretty bad and they will want to seize this home court opportunity. If they focus and the shots fall for them (and Harrel stays out of foul trouble) they could do it...but I think Virginia will overtake them in the end.

Don't touch the Duke Carolina game. You can never predict them. If UNC loses another close game though, especially against Duke, especially at home, somebody better put Tarheel fans on suicide watch.

thanks man.

LSU's gone up to +8 now, but i think id just bet on them winning outright at +325. idk if i'll pull the trigger

Kentucky is about to go undefeated in the regular season.

-The SEC is sending the second most teams to the ncaa tournament behind the ACC
-Fact

Nailed LSU win. Nailed Virginia win until the last 3 seconds lol.

Well loserville exposed Virginia last night. I dont want to see Duke or VA till late in the tourney tbh

damn, woulda went 5/5 but only ended up putting $5 on LSU to win $16. i recorded it and just got around to watching it without knowing the results and damn that was a sick game. 3pt buzzer beater for the win. felt good man. they were winning most the game but i really thought they were gonna give that one away.

They will most likely beat whoever they are up against in the first round of the tournament too.

Oh yeah, idk if any of you watched that Big South game yesterday...but damn. Get used to hearing about coastal carolina for the next few weeks. Thats all im saying. They got bracket buster written all over them. If they get paired up with Duke...hehehe...Im betting they will...

Damn MSU...so close, so far. Would've had it won if the refs had caught that out of bonds play.
