And as I get older, the idea of going to my first festival just seems more and more lame as the years pass.

Festivals are pretty sweet. I can't recommend electric forest enough it's freaking surreal.

^ What this man said, I've heard Electric Forest is better than Bonnaroo
Didn't it start out as Rothbury?

Dude you can't be serious
I want to guide you in to a huge fest someday, plz?

Dude, so serious. I just don't have it in me. I know by sunrise after the first night that I'll want to go home, bad.

^ Aww man, I don't think so
Yeah the day can get hot and boring but when it cools off it's so worth it and get's crazy wild

I'll go to FYF if i want a festival experience

FYF>>>>Coachella easy. Last time I went was 2011, and my friends bailed so I was in that awkward position where I either sell my ticket and cut my losses, or wing it alone. Happily, I winged it, and unencumbered by friends I was able to see 20 bands in a day. I know that sounds excessive, and like it might cheapen things, but The Descendents were my 20th band of the day (I think) and I watched their entire set and felt as great about it as I would seeing them elusively. I'll admit, it did suck leaving after only 25 minutes of Explosions in the Sky, but when it comes to them or the Descendents the choice for me is all too clear. I was able to watch each of the 20 bands for at least 25 minutes a piece out of 45-60 minute sets (only the headliners and subs had 50-60 minute sets, kinda a bummer in and of itself), and most bands I watched for 35-40 minutes. It was actually beyond just a salvageable experience - I really enjoyed myelf to the point I'd never fret over being stuck at a fest solo again.

Unfortunately, this piece of bragging isn't my own - my brother texted me this picture: he got to see The Toy Dolls at Coachella, a band I've been wanting to see since 2002. I'm torn between stoked for him and jealous as fuck:

Lockn Fest is like what bonnaroo was in the beginning. it looks sweet, but that's because, you know, i'm thuper gay for washed up 90's jam bands. but, yea, willie neslon is there too this year.

all that said, i wouldn't go....cuz....festival

Just went to see Letlive perform the other night. Did some mashing and stage diving.
Anyone else know of this band?

the golden days of the festival scene are long over, these days you're not really missing much imho

Didn't it start out as Rothbury?

yessir, i was there in '09 when it was still rothbury. i can't even describe the epicness of that july 4th weekend.

As in I didn't wind up going the other night. My ride ditched me an hour before doors opened :(

Summer Camp Music Festival '14 May 22-25, Widespread Panic June 17, Moe. June 19

of Montreal on the 8th

15 minutes away from the venue, already running a little late. I figure I'll hit up my buddy who does the visuals/lights/projection to see what time they're going to go on. She texts back, and I have plenty of time. Next question winds up being is it sold out? A lack of positively making it to the show had me hold off on buying tickets, and they hadn't been selling out the past few times I went to see them at this particular venue. She texts back that it's sold out. I say shit. Well I can't turn around now. I text her back. Is there any way you can help me out? She responds hold on one second. I get a text back that she snuck a Laika +1 onto the guest list. We get to the venue, breeze through the crowd of people hoping to find scalpers. I see my name scribbled onto the bottom of a printed guest list. I was willing to pay, but got in for free instead. Having friends in my favorite band sure does pay off. I get in, give her a hug and a drawing for being so kind.
I leave satisfied, and feeling important. And of course not without a setlist. Perhaps my 7th consecutive setlist at this point. Great night.
