My last tv show DVD purchase was the first two seasons of The Wire and I got bored watching the pilot so it kind of discouraged me from watching the rest :( WIRE fans, please encourage me again ;)

Ok-- I have to add Little Miss Sunshine to previous list...not sure about genre...arthouse/drama/comedy.

Anyways, I couldn't believe how much I loved it. Didn't think I would...I love how the H junkie grandpa is such an adorable, loving character, and not depicted as a total scumbag.....its a nice change.

I disagree with the "classic" being listed on here because, for one, it implies that classics are a genre in itself. About half the movies I mentioned are classics. However, if someone wants a token classic movie in their collection, I'd recommend The Petrified Forest.

*Sci-Fi Flash Gordon
*Stand up I'm still waiting for Andrew Dice Clay's HBO specials...
*True Stories 24 Hour Party People

I'll add a couple...

Western The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. Or maybe The Searchers
Musical Singing In The Rain. If you got the scratch, the Busby Berkley box set.

This was very hard ....

^Funny Games? Really??

It's not a thriller if it's totally obvious what is going to happen. The audience can pretty much not be "thrilled" at that point.

(But then again, it's also my most hated movie ever, so what do I know ;))
