^ are you speaking of the U.S. or German version?

but Funny Games, yes, really.

both actually. since the us version was a shot-for-shot remake of the german version, with the only thing changing being the actors and language.

just not my cup of tea i suppose. especially not as a thriller

^ yeah, thats understandable. I had mixed feelings about the German version immediately following my first viewing of it but then I couldn't stop thinking about it and it really grew on me.

As far as it not being a thriller to you, well, I didn't know what was going to happen in the film. So for me it wasn't "totally obvious what was going to happen," so it was still a thriller for me, and a pretty good one at that. I really love the director though too, Michael Haneke, I've seen his Cache, which was just awesome, and The Piano Teacher which was just weird and relatively disturbing, so I appreciated the movie experience of Funny Games as a whole.

I have the U.S. version requested at my local library so in about a week I estimate I will be able to see that version too. I'm quite interested to see it since it is a shot-by-shot remake. Plus Michael Pitt, Naomi Watts and Tim Roth are completely awesome actors.
