Astrology Discussion: Natal Charts

^Linda Goodman never wanted her chart posted, but given that in the modern world birth data is freely available and easily obtained I don't see your point about not posting charts.

I agree that Sun Signs is a classic.

I disagree that the Nodes should be disregarded. The position of mine in my chart explains a lot about the path my life has taken. Why do you think the Nodes should be disregarded?

I have a few more observations about some of these charts that I'll get into when I have more time- I did want to respond to that. A natal chart is merely a roadmap; what path people take is up to them.

*bump*

I don't know as much about transits and progressions but a few days ago a very nice one started for me. Since Pluto in my first in my natal chart opposes my Sun, this is an especially beneficial transit.

This is from the "Forecast" section of astro.com.

Pluto trine Sun: On your behalf

Mid February 2005 until beginning of December 2006: At this time in your life you have a strong sense of having survived heavy challenges in the past and of having reached a level where you can be effective. And indeed you can if you make an effort. This influence can bring you rewards on a silver platter, even if you insist on being totally passive, but it is far better to work positively with the energies that are operating on your behalf. You are able to express yourself more powerfully and completely to others now than at almost any other time. Others see you as a powerful and effective individual, and they respect you for it.

Obviously this is a good time for personal advancement. You may be given power in an organization, in business or in government to help bring about reforms and changes in the system. Yet you will be seen not as a revolutionary but as someone who can get things done. Your relationships with people in power over you is likely to be excellent, and your advancement may result at least partly from their favor.

On the more personal level, this influence can bring positive change into your life that does not disrupt, but allows you to evolve and grow. You can gain tremendous insights into yourself at this time and make successful efforts to change if you want to. Your physical body is in good condition under these influences and unusually able to throw off illness and heal itself. You should take advantage of your increased physical vigor and involve yourself in some form of physical education, such as conventional body- building exercises or a discipline like yoga. Yoga is particularly good for you because it involves the mind and spirit as well as the body. You should not compartmentalize yourself into two units - mind and body - because now you can see your essential unity and can make good use of that insight.

When I read this, it suddenly made sense why I am all of a sudden very interested in starting yoga classes and why I am feeling much more sexual and magnetic... I was at a pub with a straight guy friend and had at least 2 guys buying BOTH of us drinks, and I looked an absolute sloppy mess, soaked with rain.

It also appears that transiting Pluto is sextiling my Mars-Node-Jupiter stellium because I suddenly feel a LOT better about my job, I'm being entrusted with more important matters and I feel a lot less trapped. I'd have to confirm that with the math, though. I feel more powerful and in control of my moods than I have in awhile, and that's a good thing regardless.

Transits are really interesting stuff... I am continuing to study and learn in some of the very small amount of spare time I have.

I wish I knew as much about this as all of you seem to know! I'll post mine and maybe some of you can tell me about it. :)

^Kimmy, if you want to send me a PM with your birth data I'll host your chart on my page or you can upload it to your gallery. astro doesn't allow remote linking for more than like 48 hrs.

I'm surprised how much learning about astrology is making me grow. It is indeed a fun pet project. :)

Mine looks relatively simple, but the order of the day usually is conflict:

Btw, can anyone point me to a site with detailed info on astrology?

^ I recommend anything by Linda Goodman or Alan Leo bookwise. As I stated above, I've learned the most by studying celebrity natal charts since you have an idea of biographical data. For basics, start with these lessons, they're helpful in learning the nomenclature: http://astrologystudent.50megs.com/

I'll try to find the tutorial I took awhile back; wish I had saved the bookmark, it's not like a Virgo Rising to forget something like that. ;)

Wow Tylerdurden.... I would NOT want to piss you off... that stellium (cluster) of planets in Sag and Mars sitting right on your Midheaven (MC- highest point in the sky) in Capricorn... temper, temper! You can use that to your advantage in a lot of ways, though, and your Aquarius moon trining Pluto gives a basic goodness and idealistic nature... basically, the ability to use that energy for good.

I bet you are highly sensual (not nec. just sex, I mean a lover of food, beauty, sensation) with Taurus rising, and more than a bit of a risk taker. Your Neptune placement suggests that you'd be interested in astrology, the occult and other mysteries, and it's well-aspected, so if you like astrology, you probably have a natural aptitude for it.

As for conflict... well all those squares (red lines) from your Moon (emotions) to your Venus, Uranus, Mercury and Sun indicate that pretty unambiguously, and Taurus rising is notoriously hardheaded.

Get an outlet for your temper and the old rule about counting to 10 sounds trite, but with a chart like this, it's essential. There is a lot of power here. How you use it is up to you. :)

^^^^
Thanks a ton for the insight! It's too true, I've always considered my bursts of anger a bit of a joke, since it takes a lot to blow my top, i'll bear that in mind, I can get rather wild at times. :)

I had a passing interest in the occult and astrology a while back, this thread has awakened that interest again, I'll be checking out that link!

Okay, I have a question.

I've pretty much grasped the fundamentals of astrology, but I'm confused a bit here and perhaps someone can clarify. If I wished to gain further insight into, for instance, my South Node in Pisces in the 5th house -- would it be indicated by where in my natal chart the ruler of Pisces (Neptune) is placed (in Sag in the 2nd house)? Or where the ruler of the 5th house (the Sun) is placed (in Scorpio in the 1st house)? Or both?

Davian- right click and save your chart when you pull it up on Astrodienst, then upload it to the Bluelight gallery or your preferred image host. (Astrodienst doesn't keep them up for more than a couple days). PM me if you need any help.

rewiired - I've recently had a similar question. I think Jamshyd or someone more versed in chart rulership aspects than I might be best able to answer it... hope he sees this. To put forth my understanding, though, Mercury is my 1st house ruler since it rules my Virgo Ascendant, and Neptune is my 7th house ruler since it rules my Pisces DC. This makes sense with my personality as I come across as fairly grounded yet I tend to attract the more dreamy type as partners.

Applying the same logic, Pluto would be the ruler of your 1st house (Scorpio rising) and Venus would be the ruler of your Taurus 7th house. But I can see where it could go "the other way around" as you put it... hopefully someone can clarify. I haven't studied the Nodes enough to really comment on that but I also have my NN in 11th and SN in 5th, though mine are in Leo/Aqu. From what I understand it makes friendships very important and brings very influential people into one's life (that has certainly been true for me) yet makes love affairs weaker? That's a giant overgeneralization; see here for a much more comprehensive explanation.

Here is Pure_XTC's chart:

I'll comment on it in my next post; it's my father's birthday on Tuesday and part of my gift to him is a prettied-up framed photo of his natal chart and his transits for the year. (Perfect for a Pisces with a Gemini Moon, no? ;))

found linda goodman's 'sun signs' on the net... here. anyone who is in the least interested in astrology should read it... There's much more to astrology than sun signs, obviously, but it's still a fantastic book. Check it out!!!!

edit- the only negative comment I have on this book is that it's a bit old-fashioned when it comes to the views on men and women- all women want to do is get married, it seems! But it was published in '68, so I guess that excuses it.

I'm sorry I abandoned this thread. Crystalcallas and I discussed giving it a bump because there's an astrology discussion going in SLR that's going a little beyond the scope of "I'm a Gemini, am I compatible with Leos"?

I make 1-2 hours a day for my study now and my major interests are political and mundane (world event) astrology. My most recent work has been on political figures, namely Bush and Putin because I have accurate data for them. But I think we can get a good discussion going.

A few requests:

1. Please use a reliable image host to post your chart. If you use www.astro.com as an image host, your image will expire in a few days and you will get that ugly orange screen. Using the Bluelight gallery or your preferred image host would work quite well.

2. Please do not ask for predictions. Not sure who said it, but "the stars impel, they do not compel".

3. Feel free to give comments on your chart and the chart of others.

4. Have fun!

Here is the image of my own natal chart again. Much of value has already been said, but if anyone wants to take a stab at it, feel free. I'm getting the shit kicked out of me with Saturn's transit of my 11th house and Uranus dancing back and forth in my 6th - not a lot of security and lots of questions that need to be answered. But since we're discussing natal astrology, let's work it with what we got :D

^^^yay Jillian :) That's a very interesting looking chart !
I'll repost mine...the complete Astrodienst natal chart too (the one I posted in SLR was just the picture itself) .... pls feel free to comment/give observations etc. I'm still in the process of really learning how to interpret charts and have been reading a lot of stuff...kudos to the links in this thread! When I'm better I'll be sharing my thoughts soon.

PS. Glitterbizkit thanks for that nice Linda Goodman link! I have 2 of her books, I even have a paperback AND a hardcover of her Love Signs! haha =D

Yep, I do have a hell of a chart. I've met a girl on Livejournal born a day after me at nearly the same time, and the only difference is that she is Taurus Moon and I am Aries Moon conjunct Sun. We've led EERILY parallel lives. I'm making a date to chat with her tonight.

CC - I can honestly say I haven't seen that many major aspects in one chart. Yours is FAR more interesting than mine and I don't know where to start with it except that I need to run my own calculations on it with only conjunctions, sextiles, squares and oppositions in order to even be able to make any headway whatsoever. I'd never have you pegged as a Capricorn Rising.

I'd place a wager on the fact that you feel you have a head for business/finance but haven't had the opportunities to make much of your OWN money, though. But Sun applying to (right before) and conjunct Mercury at your IC (bottom point of your chart, symbolic of family) - I bet you got away with taking the car out a bunch as a teenager. ;)

I see a good work ethic, but confusion between that head for business and your desire to be creative (Saturn, your ruler, aspecting the living shit out of everything). I do see a strong integration between your public and private persona (Sun Trine Moon).

I gotta filter out some of the minor aspects here and put in some fixed stars you may need to watch out for a bit. You've given me quite the challenge here. :D

And I won't post links to other boards which may not wish to be associated with drugs on Bluelight, but if any of you would like to study the charts of public figures as a backwards learning approach (which is how I have learned the bulk of what I have and developed my primary interests) - PM me for either the link or the del.icio.us site I'm setting up today or tomorrow with my relevant astrological links.

To the rest of you - Don't be afraid to participate in this discussion; my guidelines above were merely as directional points.

With astro.com - please use the Placidus house system for the purposes of this discussion. It's the default on there. And when you see the option for "True Node" please check that option.

To the poster who made the comment about the Moon's Nodes being less than useful, I could not disagree with you more and if you want to contact me privately with your argument that they're not useful, I'll hear you out - but aspects to my Nodes have had an incredible degree of relevance in the study of my own chart, and what *little* I have done predictively. They are VERY relevant in Vedic (Indian) traditions.

Any of these concepts are explainable through Google or other sources I will post when I'm not out the door from work!

I have a funny chart... Now can someone tell me what it means? lol :)

For anyone interested, I came across another form of astrological reading based on the mayan calendar. http://www.icandosomething.com/mayancalendar/

"galactic signature", sure sounds cooler than "horoscope" =D

I do want to do some research on that one.

Every astrologer has his or her own style. I've never seen this specific part of the eternal puzzle before. I can post comments once I've educated myself a bit more.

With respect to the Mayan calendar, most of the literature out there is needlessly alarmist. From what little I know it represents the end of a cycle, we don't know what will happen at the end of that cycle.

KITD - Sun at 0 of Aries?! And your Sun is closer to conjuncting your Moon than mine! Damn, I don't see that a lot, especially in a sign of Aries which has a very short declination. We're special. :D Your life represents a beginning in some manner and the cycle of beginnings will be a theme throughout your life. I don't think I've seen more of a loaded 11th house.

The more you travel (Jupiter in 9), the better - and in combo with Gemini rising I bet you have a facility for learning languages. You write very fluently and correctly. Neptune in 7th tends to make one prone to illusions about partners but yours is well-aspected so you'll probably come out ahead in that one.
More later. I got to run to lunch!
