Quit Remeron (mirtazapine) 3 days before tripping on LSD. So worth it.

I started Remeron when I realized I might want to try quitting junk and it has actually been really helpful. Although I'm still struggling with the junk think. I'm on Suboxone this weekend too. So yay me! Haha. But tripping has always been really super important to me. I had read on this site years ago that Remeron might fuck up your ability to trip. I stayed on Remeron when I was off dope at the Gorge for a Phish show because I was a little nervous how I would hold up clean up there (haha I say clean but of course I was on LSD, GHB, pot and mahl, but yeah just not on junk haha) I could tell from my partner that I was not getting the same experience as him from the acid. So I decided to stop my Remeron when I came to Dick's for Phish. Best decision of the weekend. I was real nervous when I got here. I was feeling real emotional and crying because I was happy or sad. But as soon as the acid hit, so so so worth it. I now contribute the heightened emotions to the lack of junk. It's actually a good thing in retrospect. I'm going back on Remeron as soon as I get home. But I will always stop at least two days before acid. Remeron is really fast acting. So it's easy to go on and off like that. And I don't need Ability or anything.

It's so sad I don't remember what I even did at the Tahoe shows or the Bowl. I know I took acid but I don't remember the trips or just didn't care. So sad because I love acid so much and it's so super important to me. Probably because I was back on junk. :(

This is useful to me, because I am on Remeron (well generic mirtazapine) although only a low dose and I've felt a resistance to try psychedelics on it. I might try a few days off...

Actually Remeron is not so fast acting, it has a half-life of 20-40 hours apparently, it would take a while for the drug to drop out of your blood significantly but it seems it was still enough for you. Which I find interesting.

I also use Remeron occasionally for sleep at around 10mg sublingual. My first trip ever (15mg 2C-E) was severely dumbed down by Remeron so it definitely can effect psychedelics. I find that 3-5 days off is usually enough for me to trip.

Ah so it does effect the 2c family too. I thought so but I don't know why I thought that. I love 2c-e as well. But the last year I've had some extremely uncomfortable experiences on it. I honestly hadn't made the connection. I was on Remeron the first time during those weird trips, but I was also on meth pretty hard at the time. So I always thought that might have had some weird interaction. When I say uncomfortable experiences I mean physically. It was like I lost my circulation in my arms. The mental part of the trip was never bad, but it wasn't remarkable either. I thought it was the 2c-e not being great, but I had beautiful trips on that same stuff before I started Remeron so that couldn't be it. I think the meth was clouding my judgment at the time. Haha.

Lord I sound like a real winner here. Who is this junky tweaker birch on an anti-depressant who wants to trip so bad?? haha

Actually when I said fast acting, I was speaking specifically to the come up part of it. Unlike some of the other anti-depressants out there, I can feel positive effects from Remeron within a week sometimes. Especially if I've been on it and then forget to take it for a couple days or something. But in light of your half-life comment I wouldn't cut it shorter than 3 days.

Also I'm on 30mgs this time around. I would definitely step down if you have the time even for the 3 or 5 days. The side effects of stopping in the drug description include (among a long list of other things) nausea, vomiting, tremors, anxiety, sweating, headache. I had all of those things (and none of the other ones thankfully). But at the time I thought I had some lingering dope sickness, even though I was on Suboxone, but the first day or two off junk, the Subxone is never strong enough to cut through all of the withdraw pain. But after reading these side effects I would definitely contribute much of the tremors and vomiting to the Remeron. Because by the 2nd day of the show the Suboxone was in full effect, yet I still had nausea and vomiting as late as today. I just picked up my Remeron today. So it's been a total of 5 days off now.

But yeah the pharmaceutical companies have to tell you all the bad things that can happen, but even though some of that stuff is true and did happen to me, if you care about your trips at all, it's still 1000x worth it. Even if you can't step down. The only time it did suck was when I vomited up GBL. haha.

I guess one of the drawbacks of taking so many drugs at one time. You have to weed through which interactions are caused by starting and stopping each drug, lol.
