Zyprexa and headaches

you get headaches because zyprexa is a dirty, nasty drug. may i ask why you take it? if you must take it for serious psychological conditions then switch to a different anti-psychotic

Headaches are a common side effect of Zyprexa (along with many many other side effects). Some people find they might improve a bit after they've been taking it for a while, but definitely not everyone.

Why is it a dirty nasty drug? I find that it works great for bipolar and 10-20mg's will knock out any mania i have. I find it to be the easiest atypical to take out of the ones i have tried which are risperidone, seroquel and zyprexa.

I never found zyprexa to cause headaches but everyone is different.

To each their own. When I was put on Zyprexa, my sleep was totally killed, waking up every 10 minutes, litterally. And I gained 40 pounds. So I can understand laCster's view, even if it's true it can still help tremendously the people who react well on it.

My opinion is try another antipsychotic with your doctor untill you find the right one.

I'm ADHD Shizoafffective insomina OCD and the doc put me on it and don't get me wrong it has helped alot.

i meant dirty in the sense it's mode of action is spread out throughout many receptors. drugs that activate many receptors tend to feel "unpure" or "dirty," while drugs that mainly act on one receptor which produces the strongest effect tend to have a 'clean' feeling.

tldr : i meant dirty from a pharmocological view point

YA zYPREXA IS PRETTY DIRTY WHEN IT COMES TO SIDE EFFECTS AND i AM ON A HIGH DOSE. i'M THINKING ABOUT BREAKING THE PILLS OR JUST STOPPING IT.

Sonic tell your doctor if you're thinking about stopping it. Don't do it on your own. I found risperdal to have the least side effects (except insomnia and blood pressure went up) I would be scared to try zyprexa because I know people who have gained a shit ton of weight on it and I'm already overweight. How long have you been on it? Maybe it just takes time to get used to it or your doctor can adjust your dosage. Make an appointment tomorrow.

^ Spot-on, T. Calderone. Do not try to lower your dose or stop it altogether on your own, sonicwhite, it's a recipe for disaster. If this medication doesn't suit you well, talk about it with your doctor, they will understand and give you the best advice.
