Zopiclone

Hi, I just took 5 x 7.5mg zopiclone, that is 37.5mg. I have another 5. What can I expect? After all, they ARE a lot like benzos. What would you suggest? I have an okay high benzo tolerance, and I understand there's at least a partial cross tolerance.

My objective is to have a good time. My main goal is as much euphoria as possible. I don't really care for being sleepy, and yes, obviously I know it's a sleeping pill, but hypnotic benzos like (flu)nitrazepam and triazolam doesn't make me all that tired, just sedated. Anywho, the topic here is zopiclone and it's effects from my dose. Please tell me everything (you) / (there is to) know about zopiclone and the dose I took.

But zopiclone certainly isn't a 'euphoric' drug, it's just very sedating. If you stay awake on it, you'll probably get a bit delerious and get some visuals. But at your dose, there's also a decent chance you'll get amnesia.

Please don't close this thread yet, I'm about to write a couple of relevant questions!

I made it in time to ask the questions :D

1) How long before noticeable effects appear? I took the pills a few minutes before I created this thread.
2) If any, what benzo does zopiclone resemble the most? I gather it must be one of the hypnotic ones, perhaps likely one that isn't very euphoric.
3) Is it safe to increase the dose? Remember I only took half the dose, meaning I have 75mg but only took 37.5mg to begin with.

Please increase my knowledge on this topic, and for you mods, please, PLEASE think twice about closing this thread because I might have some more questions. I actually think I had a fourth, but right now I can't remember it. I promise to abide by the BLUA, however

Haha okay, I won't close it, but make sure you're not starting threads just asking how to get high off random pills. We don't like that there is HR value in finding out more about a drug you are taking to get high for sure, usually best to do this before you take the drug though!

Anyway, seeing as it's a bit late for that.. zopiclone comes on fairly fast in therapeutic doses (half an hour ish) but I've never tried to get high off it so I can't speak for any recreational effects you might get.. For me zopiclone isn't really like a benzo in any way other than it can help you to fall asleep and it's not something I've considered taking recreationally I have to admit. Benzos make me feel chilled and calm, z-drugs just make me feel weird and a bit jumpy if I stay awake, or I don't feel them at all (but I've not taken high doses I must admit!)

The risk of overdose from zopiclone alone is similar to benzos (ie low) but absolutely do not combine it with another downer as this could be really dangerous. As for whether you can safely take more - you're currently on 5-10 x the usual prescribed dose of a drug that can cause amnesia, dysphoria and agitation in some people so if I were you I'd not take any more.. chances are you'd just end up passing out and forgetting the whole experience anyway. effie, you are an absolute angel. I know you don't know THAT much from zopiclone from what you've told me (no doubt you know more than me though), but perhaps someone else can chip in.

These are mere estimates on when and how long in between my two doses of zopiclone (each 37.5mg). 11:50 and 12:50, meaning around an hour had passed. I feel very sleepy, but I've heard you could ('til the drug wears off) become delirious and/or experience hallucinations. I think I read somewhere that that happened to a fella after 2 hours. You could say "then why not wait the remaining hour and see?". The aswer is I don't know what dosage he took.

Question: Does anyone, especially someone who's experienced some of the above, not how long it'll take? I took 75mg and weigh maybe 60-65kg.

Haha a bit of flattery gets you anywhere Lou's right, it's all a bit of an unknown - different people respond differently. You may hallucinate off 75mg, you may well not. It's a pretty big dose.

I don't know much about the recreational effects of zopiclone at all I'm afraid as I've never considered it to be recreational before (used it for sleep for short periods but it always stops working and I've never taken more than 15mg) but I do know that the effects can vary. Not especially useful for you right now I know, sorry, but if you're just feeling tired I imagine you're not going to get much more out of it..

Well, sadly you were all correct. I eventually got so sleepy I kept 'dropping' my head onto the keyboard whilst typing a message. No recreational value for me whatsoever. Great sleeping aid though. Way better than seroquel for me I think. Seroquel makes me tired too, but I always feel uncomfortable when I get tired from seroquel; from zopiclone I just got tired. Might ask my doc to switch me to zopiclone.

What about zolpidem then? I've heard it was the most recreational of the Z-drugs as it was the most euphoric. Yes, I heard you, it varies from person to person and if zopiclone wasn't recreational for me then obviously zolpidem might no be either, but perhaps someone who has experience with both Z-drugs can enlighten me a bit here?

We not really supoosed to be discussing the recreational value of prescription drugs, but your wast9ing your time with Z drugs IMO.

Zopiclone is strickly for aleep and IME take it for any more than 2 weeks and the effects are lost, I also have ahad a bit of what I'll call "rebound insomonia" when stopping" although nothing to worrying and that when juts taking as prescribed.

I was on Zolpidem for quite a while, an did try using ir rescreationaly, for a few days it was OK I guess, crushed and snorted, but then tolerance builds at a stupid rate and your script runs out. The "rebound insomnia" was way worse from Zolpidem.

Z drugs are like Benzo light (I may have stolen that phrase from soemone else!) they are OK for treating mild insomia for a couple of weeks max beyond that they serve no purpose IMO and recreationaly I can't see any real value unless your really desperate and bored

I was prescribed zopliclone for a few months, hated the way it made me feel in small doses, and I woke up feeling worse than I did when I went to sleep.

Zoplidem on the other hand, was really good. It did what it was supposed to do for me. I can't figure out why my doc keeps me on Klonopin and doesn't switch me to Zolpidem damn it!

In the UK it seems to be Z drugs all the way, proper Benzos are largely off the menu, I've no chance of getting them having admitted addictive behaviour in the past, have you just asked your doc staight out. I can't see why they would switch you to Zolpidem it dosnt strike me as any worse risk wise than Klonopin.

also - if you are needing to ake 10 pills for 75mg of zopiclone then its not a great sleeping aid; given that you have tolerance i know it takes a lot but you should consider alternatives!
using 75mg of zopiclone for sleep is just a bit silly. I usually don't recommend anti-psychs but maybe seroquel would do you better. Give your Gaba receptors a rest and let the anti-histamines sedate you for a while - that benzo tolerance isn't going down anytime soon and you don't want it to simply get worse.

Interesting fact, I took a lot of Zopiclone for a enough nights that I didn't get the metallic taste in my mouth any longer. After that, it wouldn't sedate me either - just make me insanely high, and incredibly relaxed. I haven't ever found anything else (except maybe shrooms) that's so relaxing.

Ive only found zopiclone to be euphoric when mixed with benzos such as diazepam or temazepam. Other then that it's a decent sleep aid but that's about it.
