I've just been through the worst of heroin withdrawal, now just having problems getting to sleep. I've come across some zolpidem and was wondering what people's thoughts were on using this short term to help the problem? what dose would you reccomend? crushing them up or not? ta

It should help you get to sleep, but staying asleep is another matter unfortunately.
Crushing them up would ensure that they effect you quicker, but it'd be best to take a larger dose of the tablets whole so there's more chance of you being able to stay asleep ;)

Unlike Ambien CR, Ambien was really meant to help those who could not fall asleep, but not to help keep you asleep. It also depends on whether or not ambien actually has any effect on you. Even in doses of 40mg+, it had no effects on me. But lunesta on the other hand worked awesome for me. The z-class hypnotics effect everyone differently. With that said I would start out with 10mg and see if you notice any effect, and if not try another 10mg. If that doesn't help, than most likely ambien just isn't for you. If that is the case, go get some benadryl. It works great for getting you to sleep.

Make sure you take Ambien on an empty stomach. It works best that way. It should start to work within 15-30 minutes on an empty stomach.
