Misc Zolpidem nasal spray?

Hi Guys,

I've been looking online and found mention of zolpidem in a spray bottle with saline. The few things I found online were that it could be administered nasally or orally, but I couldn't find much out about the subject. The drug manufacturer's make mention of a spray form on quite a few sites, but I wanted to know if it's something being prescribed in Australia, and/or if there would be a relatively easy way of producing my own spray by crushing up my zolpidem, but not sure if it needs a propellant or not.

I currently plug the drug and get awesome results doing it, but it'd be nice to experiment and find another method that might be even better.

If anyone has actually used the prescription zolpidem nasal spray, i'd like to hear how it went and for anyone who knows the best way to make my own, i'd love to know.

I did a bit of searching here in previous threads and couldn't find anything that was this specific, but if anything i've said or asked has been said or done before, i'm sorry!

Wow, I had no idea they would actually encourage you to put this stuff up your nose!! I love to snort ambien, it's fun as hell. To think I could actually have it prescribed this way.........

I am not sure about prescribing this stuff in Australia, but I do know that you shouldn't have a problem creating your own zolpidem (ambien ) nasal spray.

It would be quite simple. Get a nasal spray bottle, and empty it. Then, take known amount of water ( say 10ml ) Then crush say, 100mg of zolpidem in 10ml of water. Stir, mix well. Then filter out the insolubles and garbage, and you will be left with a solution of 100mg of zolpidem in 10ml of water.

This equates to 10mg/mL.

So before doing that you need to figure out how many sprays form your bottle would equal out to 1 mL. Then you can do the math to figure out how many mg of zolpidem would be administered per spray.

I used my numbers as examples, and don't know the volume of liquid released per spray. So you will need to do your own math.

For the record zolpidem is apparently soluble to the point of 23mg per mL. So in 10mL of water you could potentially dissolve 230 mg of zolpidem.

If you are plugging zolpidem with good results, then nasal administration will not offer any improvement, other than the thrill of the burn (with crushed pills). But I think we can all agree it is much simpler.

Well, I do have to say that the main reason I went down the track to plugging it was because snorting it was fucking terrible. It burnt badly, but I thought maybe having it within a liquid would counteract it a little.

I did figure I could put it together myself using a spray bottle and filtering, but the maths of it is what confused the god damn hell out of me. Having someone spelling it out for me is awesome, I tend to trick myself into thinking my own calculations are wrong. Thanks for the examples, BrokedownPalace, I really appreciate it! I'll experiment next time i'm scripted some.

I just wasnt sure if it was available here and had been using the drug for 8 years or so and had never even thought of a liquid nasal spray form of it and i'm just curious to see if it's as effective, which i'm sure people here would understand; trying something just to see if it might improve the experience or do the job the drug is being used to do.

Is there anyone who'd be interested in me updating this thread when I get my hands on some and experiment? Or is anyone else out there who has some who can try it for the purposes of testing? Even if we finetuned it a little bit to work out the best measurements and methods, even though each person's tolerance would play into the calculations.

I manufactured my own zolpidem nasal spray from a reqular nasal spray bottle. Crushed the tablets, removed the tablet covers and then putting 60mg zolpidem tartrate (and the binders) in a solution of hot water (with sea salt, concentration used to match the salt content with mucous membranes) and couple drops of ethanol. Ended up with zolpidem concentration in solution 3mg/ml. I failed the conceration because of calculation error . It should be much more than that. One spray from this particular bottle equals 0.15 ml. Still works like a clock and was easy and cheap to manufacture.

Next step would be filter out the binders from the solution before putting it in the bottle. I think that would be healthier for the nasal passages and I propably will do it, since this was only first experiment.

The reason why I like to use zolpidem intranasally is because it kicks in fast and still the effects fade away relative quickly. Just good for initiating sleep and hangover seems not that bad next day (vs. oral).

I've always wondered if I could make my own nasal dispenser that expenses just powder, like how my nasal allergy thing comes. You click it once, bump, thats a dose. Click it again, another dose. Doing coke like this would be so fucking awesome, if each click was like 25mg's or something. My god.

ummm, you can dissolve cocaine in water and carry it in a nasal spray bottle. it was awesome, and it's a hell of a lot less detectable than a crack pipe, rolled up bill, or baggie of white powder. just make sure u get new spray bottles all the time - hygiene reasons and people WILL look at you funny if you have an Afrin bottle that looks like it came from an archaelogical dig site LOL.

you also dont get those dead giveaway white crusties in your nose that powder gives.

eta: never thought of doing this with Ambien, tho I wish I had. that stuff, on an empty stomach, hits me in like 5 minutes - out cold. full stomach, no effect. nasal administration I think would be way more consistent in terms of time of onset.

Yes, orally it takes 5 min in empty stomach really and if not empty then no effect on me either. But that nasal spray of mine (and the powder also) takes imo less than a minute to feel it. Actually I was thinking of mixing some menthol in the spray also, because it still burns like hell even I hoped that salty water would ease that. Burns even worse than just sniffing the powder. Sometimes i actually numbed my nose with menthol nasal spray before sniffing zolpidem and that helps with the burn, but it also felt like the effect was not so intense.

I have a "thing" for Z-drugs (I hate them). However, I've made zolpidem work for me.

I don't usually use the oral ROA with zolpidem.

I take all my normal benzodiazepines sublingually, and when I take zolpidem SL it is by and far the grossest, most disgusting, unbearable taste (due to the ingredients they add to prevent it's use in date-rape) that I would rather use another ROA like rectal. SL makes me gag and it feels like my throat is closing up.

I don't like snorting things that don't have any benefits taken nasally, pretty much the only pharmaceuticals I can think of right now worth snorting would be the *morphone twins.

yeah i once had a talk with my father on this subject, about why flunitrazepam is so well known even though it virtually almost never is used. he said that from his experience (he's been using benzos since before i was born) zolpidem was probably the most suitable thing for date rape. we don't have the ambien brand here, instead we have stilnox, which tastes worse than alprazolam but still better than diazepam.

Have to stay that zolpidem is most incredible drug on prescription i have ever done. I use to trip with it every once and while before bed and get pretty cool hallucinations and conversations with objects. To do that i need to take it orally in empty stomach, the sniffing doesnt seem to induce the deliriant effects that much. Still i cant understand that kind of substance is widely prescribed although it works great for insomnia. But the side-effects are just crazy..

Lol zolpidem..Back in highschool i took like idk bout 20 or 30mg before school looking to be fucked up....i never felt anything UNtill 2nd period, i was trying to sleep while taking notes and when i looked up, it honeslty looked as if all the writing on the board was in fuckin Russian or somethin haha..walking to my next class i saw about 3 of everybody which was fucking great. I tell ya what i can maintain undr the influence..

Is it just me or did this shit only last like 30mins?! If it was longer acting id probably love the stuff

It is sparingly soluble in water, alcohol, and propylene glycol. I have heard of some nasal sprays coming out, but not Zolpidem, it would need to be changed to HCI hydrochloride, as it is a Tartrate in pill form. Sparingly means it will take time to absorb threw nasal passages, and it mostly will cake up well before the moister in your nostrils will absorb it, you will constantly need to keep your nostril moist and head back. It has a burn, and since small amounts are adsorb, and the rest will cake, the best, is very small amounts, with constant moisture in your nostrils. If not, you are just wasting it, and eat it.
