Zolpidem/Ambien after LSD

LSD + ambien to come down?

assuming i was tripping on acid soon, and was ready to come down, or at least relax and mellow out, would ambien be a decent drug to take? and at what dose?

i didnt see anything on the search engine...

also, i dont think i will have access to anything else, so what i really need to know is: will ambien work to mellow out an acid trip, and how much do i eat?

ambien can by itself cause people to trip. Its object is to make u go to sleep, but if u are awake (which you will be because of the acid) taking an ambien may cause u to trip harder, maybe mellower but harder. Im tripping on ambien rite now for tht matter.
 
I'd try to use benzos or another sleep aid personally. Ambien really fucks with me, sometimes even with small doses. If you were anything like me or some others I know whose bodies react the same then taking it to come down wouldn't be such a good idea. It would probably just have you more spun or confused. I took a pretty small dose once after a long roll (to attempt to get some sleep). A short time afterwards I couldn't get to sleep, decided to ride one block to get some ciggarettes (REALLY stupid idea), and somehow managed to run over a stop sign and get my 2000 Celica sideways in a ditch.
 
taking ambien to come down from acid is possibly one of the worst ideas i've ever heard(for reasons already mentioned above)if you don't have access to a benzo take some benadryl,like 25-50mg that should put you to sleep

Are you insane? that might work if he wasn't already tripping, but frankly ambien is really poor sleep aid for people who like hallucinogins because we tend to stay awake to enjoy the trip. I CAN"T sleep when i take it. all i do is trip for a coupke hours, even if i take like 30-40mg
 
ive never tried ambien, but its the only real sleep aid i have access to. wont taking that much benadryl make me feel awful in the morning?

do even small doses of ambien make one trip?

Taking enough benadryl to help you get to sleep shouldn't effect how you feel in the morning. It doesn't for me anyways. To answer your question, yes. For some people ambien can induce a "trip" or state of confusion in small doses.

Ambien comes in 10 mg pills. I think it would be a bad idea to take more than 20 mg, while I personally feel that 10 mg will suffice fine as an excelent sleep aid. Though the one time I tried to "trip" on ambien i fell asleep so I havn't experianced this yet, but I think you wouldn't need too much for a recreational dose.
 
^Ambien also comes in 5mg tabs which are salmon colored. Just thought I'd throw that in there.


As for the OP's question, I would personaly advise against this combination very strongly. LSD is much too powerful of a stimulant to be nullified by the rather benign effects of Zolpidem Tartrate (Ambien, Stilnox,etc.).

As previously mentioned, taking the aforementioned sleeping medication can precipitate hallucinatory experiences, with a slight resemblance to a cross between dramamine and other delerium-inducing substances. To add this on top of an LSD come-down would, to me, be a recipe for complete disaster at worst, and a waste of time and drugs at best.

So really, unless you've got some Thorazine or a fairly potent benzodiazepine laying around, I'd tough out the come down. An opiate may help - smoking opium at the tail end of an acid trip really mellowed me out, lessened the intensity of the experience, and made the duration of the comedown rather pleasant.

Sorry for speaking too much! To sum my advice up, taking Ambien to calmdown after an acid trip is a bad idea in my book, and I've been there pleny!

you might be inclined to take lots of ambien to counteract the stimulating LSD but i wouldn't do it if i were you. i definitally snorted about 50mg and....yeah. don't remember two days of my life. be careful. and don't fuckin trip without making time to recover!
 
well, it potentiated the trip.

it induced quite the visuals.=D

i then crashed afterwords. (woke up an hour later.. but thats another story b.c the ambien had worn off at that point i think)
 
This has been discussed a couple of times before but in every case I've found the answers utterly dissatisfying.

The problem: I am sick to death of not being able to sleep while coming down off psychedelics (specifically LSD and LSA). And I effectively have zero access to benzos.

I have used zolpidem tartrate (Ambien, Stilnox) as a sleeping aid a handful of times in my life and have found it to be very effective. I'm wondering if this 'can' be used to put someone to sleep while they're coming down off acid.

When this has been discussed in the past, a typical response has been somewhere along these lines: "no, that's a crazy idea because zolpidem is a very trippy substance. it will mellow you out but will probably make your headspace worse and not put you to sleep."

But what if one was to take a larger dose of zolpidem than usual (2-3 pills instead of 1, for example)? Is there actually something in the pharmacology of LSD that would prevent zolpidem's sleep-inducing properties from taking effect? Again, I am NOT a recreational zolpidem user, so find that it usually knocks me out very well.

Any actual experiences would be appreciated. As would posts that focus on pharmacology. Thankyou.
 
IMO zolipidem wakes me up... and i love its effects, ive used it to come down on various psychs and amps and coke but it doesn't put me to sleep...
 
ambien fuckin puts me in my own world......bugs me out. I can't imagine taking even 10 mg after a big dose of lsd.
 
Usually just trips me the hell out. Kicks up visuals again and seems to make everything peak up again.

Perhaps more would help "put you to sleep" but perhaps not before making you stumble around in a disasociative state and vomiting then falling into the relaxing arms of sleep. By all means try it.
 
I have experience with this. As the others have said, the stimulation from the LSD/A compounds is just too overpowering to be quelled with a sleep aid such as Zolpidem Tartrate and will usually just lead to a combo effect whereby you may still be tripping on LSD, but now you'd also be dissociatedly tripping on the Zolpidem, which, in my ever so humble opinion, is a very shitty feeling (ESPECIALLY on the comedown of an acid trip... yikes.)

Off of the top of my head I have nothing more to offer up as an alternative other than liquid herbal extracts to provide sedation, such as Valerian Root, Kava Kava, Blue Lotus (fairly ineffective), and Wormwood. Kava Kava (liquid only) + Wormwood (liquid) should, at the very least, calm your nerves.
