Zoloft dulling the effects of drugs/alcohol?

Does zoloft dull the effects of other drugs and alcohol? I hadn't drank in over a year and on a day when I hadn't eaten anything I finally drank a half a bottle of alcohol and felt barely anything. And I should have.... I never had that high of a tolerance ever in my life. I'm not a very large girl by any means...

On the flip side, it also seems to dull the effects of opiates and other such pills... is this a common side effect, or am I maybe just overthinking things?

EVERYTHING felt dull when I was on Zoloft and other AD's.

If you are having to take anti-depressants, you should really consider not abusing alcohol or other drugs and really trying to improve your situation. Your depression could be related to substance abuse as much as you want to deny it (I did for a long time)

Also, just because you don't FEEL the drugs/ alcohol as much, they affect your body the same, so you may OD if you go after the same feelings these substances use to give you.

I'm on zoloft for anxiety that I've had since I was very young. Not depression. But thanks for the input. I don't do anything daily or anything. Very rarely... a couple times a year, maybe a few drinks or a couple of percs... nothing major. I enjoy using, but I'm not stupid enough to over do it. I know a lot of people say that, but I do actually watch myself. :]

Thank you for the concern though.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure. I was on Zoloft for PTSD and anxiety, also tried all the other SSRI/SNRI's and finally decided that they were not for me.
They dulled the anxiety, but they also dulled everything else. All in all, I would say it made by substance abuse problems worse since, especially tolerance because I kept raising my benzos and opiate tolerance because I couldn't really get "high" so be careful with the recreational drugs mixed with antipressants.

This is interesting, because when I was on zoloft for anxiety, every time I drank much I ended up getting wayyyy more drunk than I would have otherwise. Not a good thing.

After some research I found on another board that this can happen frequently. Its interesting to hear that you are the opposite.
