Zoloft decreasing effectivness of Klonopin?

Would taking taking 50mg zoloft daily reduce the effect of the klonopin? I know setraline (zoloft) is an inhibitor of clonazepam (klonopin). Im not knowledgeable in the liver enzyme stuff but im pretty sure that means i mite have a reduced effect of the klonopin while im taking the zoloft. The more I research the more i find that when taking zoloft alot of other drugs have decreased effectiveness.

What do you mean by inhibitor?

Clonazepam is a CYP450 3a4 partial substrate so CYP450 3a4 inhibitors can potentiate them, inducers can reduce their effects but sertraline doesn't have a clinically significant effect on CYP450 3a4. Sertraline DOES inhibit CYP450 2d6 but clonazepam isn't metabolized by that enzyme.

ok, so in lamens terms....zoloft should NOT reduce the effects of the klonopin? Im bad when it comes to liver enzyme stuff.

Correct. In fact, it sertraline can amplify the sedation but I wouldn't expect this unless you are super sensitive to it and have no benzo tolerance. I really can't imagine that you'll be able to notice a difference at all combining them.
