First time poster please go easy :)

Ok suffer from panic, anexiey all the rest so I'm prescribed xanax 1mg Zoloft 50mg and I take panadine extra (over the counter) 2x tabs =30 codine.

Anyway is this a bad combo? I usually feel nausa, body sweats. I mainly mix the xanax and codine to get "high" so to speak to make everything feel like its ok.

Stomach upsets allot but I think that's the Zoloft? I know the doc won't give me anything stronger than codine as he said to dangerous with Zoloft. I also suffer from mild scholicious (curve of the spine) so quite sore.

Anyway enough rambling. Is it a bad combo? Is there better out there?

Thanks guys!

taking zoloft daily will pretty much kill any codeine high right there so dont bother trying. Sertraline is an inhibitor of the enzyme (CYP2D6) needed to convert codeine to morphine and so codeine isnt much use not zero but basically dont bother. I have had the same case in the past myself.

Abd then the xanax well I wouldn't call that a high maybe with a couple of beers but just use it when u need it really or to chill. basically codeine is off the menu unless you get a diff antidepressant that doesn't inhibit the conversion, but many do. Anyway thats not a medically sound way to select an Antidepressant lol

Wow thanks! I didn't know Zoloft can just kill the codeine effect like that.

I know taking the panadine forte 60mg codeine in total has some effect but yeh. Might have to have a chat to the doc.

Does anyone have any other good experience with antidepressants? In the past I had Zoloft, Effexor (nightmare)!!

Just sorta need something that dosnt interfere with pain relief and also does not upset the stomach allot like the Zoloft!

Thanks for the advice mcwally btw :)

i havent had any positive experiences with anti-depressants

and its a bad idea to take a benzo (xanax) for more than 3 weeks

imo, medicating for anxiety/panic with benzos longterm worsens those symptoms and medicating with chemicals in general, i dont think works

does smoking weed help ur anxiety at all

i have a friend with back pains as well and he says he is able to sleep and isnt in pain, after a hour of doing laps at the pool

Yeh we'll same here I can't seem to find any antidepressant to help Ellevate my anexiey.

As for xanax, wow I've been on that on and off for 2 years. Mind you no more than 1mg plus yes I maybe have a dependency on it but If I have an attack it still works thank god!

Don't smoke weed, it seems to have some serious implications on me so I stopped that prob about 2 months after smoking it. Seemed to heighten my anexiey.

Besides xanax, I've been on just Valium and also serapax, is there any others that work extremely well to make you feel good?
And I don't feel comftiable to say mix the Valium (5mg) with the xanax. Must be some other benzos out there

1st thing you got right is ditch the weed, if it isn't helping anything and worsening anxiety ditch it, I used to love it but now it is just not worth the anxiety.

50mg zoloft is a low dose so I suspect a higher dose would be tried before ruling it off the list for you and it depends how long you have tried it for. I remember it did help say 10% or something for anxiety. Next I would try would be escitalopram or going straight to a SNRI like effexor again but trying duloxetine (Cyambalta).
(this is just based on what has helped me a bit and on the prescribing technique of a top psychiatrist I have seen granted it is just for me not across the board)

Is sleep an issue for you? If not forget this but if so read this. For me my depression/anxiety was/is coupled with sleep problems/routine issues sleeping too long being almost nocturnal etc so the medication that has helped me the most hands down is Valdoxan (agomelatine). It hits the melatonin receptors to help the sleep signal and body clock routine while also affecting noradrenaline and dopamine and being pretty much devoid of seretonin action. This also, can be coupled with a SSRI like zoloft or lexapro. Only prob is it is expensive but for depression coupled serious sleep issues it is a godsend.

re the benzo having valium and xanax available is fine no other benzo will magically work more or better I don't think dude I would be happy you are scripted them at all. Pain stuff - alot of these antidepressants imo will stop most of a codeine high but may not significantly affect if at all the normal dose analgesia of panadeine fortes. So you may be out of luck for a different painkiller but I don't know unless the doc would prescribe a S8 restricted painkiller.
