Can anyone tell me the bioavailability of Zolpidem with regards to different routes of administration (PO, Insufflation, rectal,IV --though I wouldn't IV pills due to binders, I am only curious). If you can find info on protein binding or any other relevant pieces of information on the differences for the above Routes of administration that would also be much appreciated. I've looked around some and I can't seem to find any actual data on this subject, just testimonials from random users. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, guys!

Feel free to be as terse or as in-depth as you'd like. Thank you again!

I believe it is very high orally like greater than 70%, perhaps even higher (maybe even upwards of 85% although wikipedia says 70% as well), and all other forms (besides IV obviously, although shooting up an ambien pill would be the last thing i'd ever want to do) aren't really worth it. I believe rectal is similar to oral since oral is so high?

Nasal is not very high; not even worth it, plus these pills are real rough. I literally blew some ambien one time, not only did i not get the same high (b/c the drug has very low BOA nasally and is not water soluble I believe) BUT, i literally got an instantaneous nosebleed: no sooner did I blow the ambien that blood comes pouring out of the nostril. plus it wore off wicked quick doing it this way.

Enjoy, although I personally wouldn't consume ambien any way besides oral.

Ya mostly everyone will tell you that snortin em is not worth it but for me if I pop the pill nothing happins. I don't even get tired. I've done littarly 70mg with 3 1/2 mg Xanax and drank like half a cup of whisky torwords the end of the day and didn't even really get faded from em. But today I started with a half and snorted it and actually got some euphoria.
Ambian really docent effect me that much tho

Thank you for the information. Sorry about the title guys; I don't think I can change it. I checked the megathread and all it said was, "Zolpidem is absorbed readily from the gastrointestinal tract. First-pass hepatic metabolism results in an oral bioavailability of 67%, and 92% is bound in plasma." It didn't say anything about other routes of administration besides oral. I too do not feel much from it when I take it orally, despite what the figures say. Maybe it's because I eat too much...

Thanks for the reply. Well, as the creator of the thread, I do say that it would be much appreciated if a moderator did fix the typo in the title so as to get more exposure. Perhaps someone out there who has access to scientific journals that I don't might be able to shine some light on this topic. I've searched PubMed and Google Scholar, but as always, the majority of the articles found in those scholarly databases are for purchase only (which is fine, as a scientist you've got to make your money somehow). I don't have a problem with plugging, though I've never done it. I just find it strange that such a common drug (at least in this Bluelight community) has no data in terms of bioavailability across various different routes of administration. The megathread for bioavailability/half-life is great, but unfortunately I couldn't find what I was looking for. Specifically,I was looking for intranasal vs. oral bioavailability. Perhaps it is just the fact the when insufflated, the effects are felt almost immediately, leading to the illusion that it might have a great intranasal bioavailability. Referring back to the megathread, some benzos in that thread are stated to have a higher oral bioavailability than intranasal; in other benzos the opposite is said to be true.

Also, I wasn't aware that insufflating pills was so bad for your lungs. I know injecting them is, so I've never done it. I've never gotten a nosebleed from insufflating pills -- and I've snorted many. Not trying to argue that just because it's not painful for me or that I've never bled from it that I believe it's not harmful. I've just never heard that it's so harmful.

Well, thanks again. Please add any relevant info if anyone comes across it.

Didn't read any responses but here's the megathread

From what I've read and from my experience, orally is the best way to take Ambien, maybe sublingually if it's easy on the palate.
