I just got a script for Zofran due to some nausea issues over the past 2 weeks. I read that blocks serotonin and wonder if that would have any effect on my Percoset, as far as the "feel-good" feeling. Sorry this is my first post and I have idea what I'm doing!

Thanks,
ShamrockGirl

No it will not effect the so-called feel good feelings you get from Percocet. Zofran only works on specific serotonin receptor, the 5ht3, which primarily is involved with with controlling nausea and vomitting.

Thanks, Kitty. My doctor had me so worried and was ADAMANT about not taking the 2 together.

I have only used Zofran a few times. It is amazingly effective treating nausea and vomitting. One of those times I also ingested oxycodone and had no problem.

I do see frequently prescribed together with opioids in cancer and chronic pain patients. Some opioids are risky with it (fentanyl, meperidine, tramadol, and dextromethorphan) but other than some increased sedation, drugs like oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine are no issue.

I've taken both hydrocodone and oxycodone with Zofran (only way I can keep the stuff down) and other than some slight potentiation, have noticed no difference in level of pain relief.

Now, I do not get euphoria from either of the above drugs due to a weird enzyme thing, so can' t say if zofran would affect recreational use of oxy or hydro, but for pain relief it just seems to make them take effect a little stronger and faster.

When I was in the hospital for meth OD they gave me Zofran along with morphine and Ativan and it didn't interfere so I think you will be fine.
